Great piece with a caveat
March 25, 2013
Patagonia's Knifeblade Pullover is the answer to a very specific need: mixed climbing endeavors. I find that, for the most part, it succeeds. It eschews unnecessary pockets, zippers, etc., and offers a deep front zip for venting, a streamlined athletic fit, and a well-proportioned hood. The Polartec Powershield fabric is light but very stretchy, and seems quite durable. My issue was that the XL was tight in the shoulders (I'm 6'3"/225#) even with just a base layer, thereby compromising layering in cold conditions. In the end, this limited its versatility for me, and so had to return. If it fits your frame (thin, lanky), you won't be disappointed. Even though it didn't work out for me, I think these are the kinds of garments that put Patagonia at the leading edge of outdoor clothing. Altrec's great customer service, fast shipping, and killer deals are icing on the cake.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Cons: tight fitDid you recently buy the Patagonia Knifeblade Pull Over? Write a review.
