I bought these shorts after all reading all the loving appraisal. Now, I am a fan: Light, dries quickly and, most importantly, enables you to move fast and deep - I've used it for surfinf and hiking, but these will be definitely be my go-to's whenever I get the chance, because apart from the functional aspect, they look really good: They reach just above the knee and have a slender look, which make the shorts fit for post-surfing get-togethers. What I also love about this product, is that the quality promises durability, which is something that the environmentally aware Patagonia company really focuses on. Considering the price tag, the shorts are a bargain. I am normally not very 'attached' to my shorts (no pun intended), but I am so in love with these that my girlfriend says I am just looking for (outdoor) excuses to wear them! Which brings me to the only criticism: I hope Patagonia will offer more colors in the future, so I am able to vary a bit (and make my wardrobe choices less conspicious to my girlfriend!)

These shorts are great for true bodysurfing or ocean swims. I have a few pairs of wavefarer shorts but material too thick and bulky for bodysurfing. The material of the light and variables is sheer but very strong. I had to size down one size because of the slippery material. They dry quickly and have held up to some serious hours at the beach. Wish Patagonia would put these out in a few more colors. No fancy designs just solid colors!!

Great pair of swim trunks. Very light and packable, you could practically fit them in your pocket. They dry incredibly fast. Simple, yet fashionable. You barely even notice you are wearing them!

These trunks are as light as light can be (almost naked feeling), ultra quick drying and extremely compressible (even includes matching stuff sack). They are the minimalist approach with no pockets but look and fit GREAT! The grey turns to a shiny black when wet but right back to grey with a quick towel dry. I really hope they release additional colors.

these trunks are great with a small drawback,no lining, but I can get used to that, besides that they look great.The fit is fine.They are a quality pair of trunks

They dry extremely quickly and pack very light. Trunks pack down into a tiny bag that fits into a little pocket in the back. They fit true to size. Would purchase again.

This surf trunk is extremely lightweight. Good for all kinds of water sports. Dry very quickly. The fabric is quite thin. Need time to test its durability.

Just got these and used them at the beach today. Excellent fit, very cool fabric, and bomber construction make these my new favorite beach and surfing shorts. You'll love these.

I ordered these trucks for a trip to Destin FL. I like to body surf, jet ski and just lay out. These trucks are super comfortable. They are extra thin and light--perfect. Best part isÂ…no liner. I hate liners in board shorts and have to cut them all out. These have nothing extra, just what you need to have fun in the water. Highly recommend for anyone active that likes to wear as little as possible. I normally wear a 34 but they were too big so I sent them back and got 32--perfect. Highly recommend. Enjoy.

These trunks are probably the best I have ever had. They are great for running in, swimming or even biking. I'm training for a triathlon and these are my go to shorts, they dry really fast and the handy compression bag is great! They are really thin, but they feel well built, so if your on the fence, buy them! The only real downside is cost...but they are still worth it!

If you like the feeling of wearing almost nothing, these shorts are for you. If you want something a little more substantial, try the Minimalist or the Wavefarer. I was looking to use one of these models as a dual purpose swim trunk and backpacking short. I prefer a good hiking short for backpacking.
