The right short
May 03, 2011
Great quality. Gret fit for a 60 tearold. Only issue is the rear pockets are too deep. These shorts are good for bike rides, hiking, etc. Go out and get a pair and see how good they are.
Pros: Build quality, Performance, Cons: CostWear Like Iron

Really good looking shorts!

Finally, shorts that are SHORT, so they look good on a man who's on the short side himself. These are well-constructed and fit well, too. My husband's very happy with them.
Awesome shorts!

A great summer take on the only shorts I wear....perfect length, the wallet pocket is a great addition in the past couple of years, you can't go wrong with these.

GREAT Patagonia shorts!!

I have been wearing these 5" inseam Patagonia 'stand up' shorts for ...well...30+ years. I have worn through countless pair sailing, working and now just 'living in FL." They are exceptional in both durability and their ability to wash out WHATEVER I get in them. I re build old airplanes as a business and a hobby. I get these greasy, rust covered and get things like hydraulic fluid on them. I pre treat and hot wash them and they are clean enough to wear out to dinner the next night. I've tried other 'less expensive' brands and they just don't cut it. The pricing here was the best I've seen anywhere and I'll be back for more... in a year or two :-)).
Pros: Build quality, Lasts forever, come clean!, Cons: sometimes hard to findThese shorts have right lengh.

I am an active young man 20 years old and a shorts and tee shirts guy. So many of men's shorts have inseam lengths so long and go to the knees and even below and these are more properly called short longs or long shorts. I like shorter shorts to bare my legs and the 5 inch inseam exposes more of my bare legs to the air for more ventilation and to the sun for a better tan on my bare legs. I purchased the mens 5 inch inseam standup shorts in all available colors and enjoy them because they are comfortable and I look good in them and are suitable for lots of activities and I practically live in these shorts. I like the heavy duty zipper button.. I am a college student and it seems it has almost become a tradition for young men to wear shorts to class with t shirt, shorts and flip flops with no socks or with t shirt, shorts and athletic sneakers with white tube socks and even in cold weather. I am following that tradition and wear shorts to class every day and alternate between wearing t shirts, shorts and flip flops with no socks to class and wearing t shirts, shorts, and athletic sneakers with white tube socks to class even in cold weather. I drive a light motorcycle to campus and drive wearing my t shirt and shorts even when it is foggy and cold with dense fog. My bare legs get a bit chilled as well as my bare arms and my feet too when I wear flip flops. My girlfriend likes to see me with more exposed bare legs wearing these shorts and young men in college seem to like to bare more of their legs with the begining of a trend to shorter shorts.
Pros: Great design, Ease of use, Great value, short length, attractive, comfortableVery Great Shorts

Patagonia Stand Up Shorts are great to go hiking in and look sharp enough to wear out to dinner after the hike.

I have had these shorts 4 days and I have worn them twice already. I am getting ready to order more in different colors. I thought the 5 in. inseam was a little short to begin with, but i love them! Great shorts. Well worth the price!
Pros: Build quality, Lasts foreverPerfect shorts Age well

Short Shorts get harder and harder to find. Thanks for these. I love the way they wash and last.

My husband likes shorter shorts and these are very well constructed.

Is the 5" inseam the shortest you carry? I could not see any that were shown that had the shorter inseam, even though it is stated there are several inseam sizes available. I am 5' 3" tall, weigh 157 and have a 36" waist, therefore, would need the shortest inseam possible
AMAZING shorts!!!

I've had two other pair of these same shorts, and I can't tell you how great they are. The are built solid as a rock and can take anything you dish out. I've had other work shorts before, but these beat them hands down. More comfortable, better fitting... just better. They fit me close to my size and are the perfect length. Just short enough to not hang over your knees but long enough to not show off everything. I'm 5'10" and had been looking for shorts just like these for the longest time. I'll never go back to others. I think the cost is a bit high, but the quality more than makes up for it.
Pros: Build quality, Lasts forever, Cons: CostFinally some shorts that fit!

For someone who's 5'4" with a 29" waist, it's been nearly impossible for years to find shorts that aren't uncomfortably long and/or baggy. I wore them all weekend and they are working out well. I expect they will hold up to my abuse for a long time. The 5" inseam is perfect and they seem true to size in that the 30" size is just a bit big for my 29" waist (they weren't available in a 29 at the time). The leg openings are a bit larger than I'd like and the wallet pocket a bit smaller than I'd like for my bulky wallet, but all-in-all these are the best shorts I've found in years. Most of my other shorts have now been relegated to the "emergency use only" pile.
good sturdy shorts
June 27, 2010
I've bought this short many times. It's the only ones my husband will wear. They are sturdy and tend to stand-up well to his wear and tear. The back pockets of this short are a little bizarre. They go all the way down the short making it impossible to carry his wallet in his back pocket. This particular version is much improved in that there is actually a normal-sized back pocket for his wallet. No more carrying it in my purse! Yippee!
5" do everything!

Great shorts for... well everything! I work at a summer camp and these shorts can do it all! We're in and out of the Bogue Sound shallows as well as on the ropes course and athletic field. These shorts are great-- they fit true and the leg holes are nice and wide to allow for climbing ladders, etc. I got the alpaca brown and they show virtually no dirt= multiple day wear. They are a bit expensive but the quality is exceptional. The material is sturdy. Lastly, the gigantic back pockets are great-- you can fit everything in them (think two VHS tapes). For those hesitant about the 5 in inseam, its a bit short at first but it feels great in the warm humid weather.

A great pair of men's shorts!
April 22, 2010
Lightweight, carefree men's shorts are perfect for hiking and all-purpose casual wear. Because they are 100% cotton, the feel soft and natural against the skin and breathe well in warm weather. The 5-inch inseam is perfect for shorter men wanting a hemline above the knee. I would recommend this product without hesitation. Great-looking and long-wearing.

These shorts are amazing! I own every color and wear them every day. They are extremely durable and can survive anything you throw at them. Easily the best shorts available i highly recOmmend them.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, PerformanceI really like the fit and feel of these shorts.
August 22, 2008
My new shorts came today and they fit nicely. The material is sturdy and I expect they will last a long time. It is hard to find shorts with a 5 inch inseam so I'm thankful I found your websight. My only "gripe" is the expense. Thanks Fred

Bombproof shorts
July 28, 2010
Well, I had a pair of these just give up the ghost after 11 years and I had to order a replacement. These shorts never fail to impress me with their comfort and durability. I've been a huge fan since I bought my first pair in 1998 and that devotion continues to this day. With good reason. The only thing I think I'd change (and it's a small thing) is to do away with the smaller right side wallet pocket. I prefer the cleaner appearance and function of just two hip pockets, but I'll admit I'm splitting hairs.
The only shorts I own
May 29, 2010
These shorts continue to amaze me; my oldest pair is over 8 years old and still holding up. I've got both the 7" and 5" inseam versions, although lately I seem to prefer the shorter variant. Extremely comfortable, supremely functional and mind-blowingly durable, I can ask for no more. Plus, chicks dig 'em.
