I love this coat. It is super light - I often forget that I have it on. It is super warm. Went for a very easy walk in low 20's windy weather with just a short sleeve shirt on and was plenty warm. The fit is great, good length in arms and torso. It is longer than my Patagonia capilene shirts (so they don't stick out), but not longer than my shell. I am a bit concerned about the fabric ripping since it feels so thin, but so far I have had no problems.Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance
February 22, 2013
Awesome jacket! That about sums it up. It is super warm. I wore it in 39 degree weather, with just a sweater on, standing outside in a steady wind for about 20 minutes and felt very very comfortable. I think it would be good till about 30 degrees. Anything colder and I'd add on a light fleece underneath. I also have the Nano Puff jacket and I like the Micro Puff more. The Nano Puff is lighter and more compact and great for layering but is no where near as warm as the Micro Puff. I also checked out The North Face Redpoint and Mountain Hardwear Compressor and chose this over those two. I felt it was warmer than the Redpoint and looked nicer than the Compressor. My wife liked mine so much that she got one for herself also and loves it as much as I do. Highly recommend it.Pros: Great design, Build quality, Ease of use, Great value
March 18, 2013
For my first experience buying from altrec and buying a patagonia product, for the price I'm very satisfied. A nice go to jacket as what others had said. Using it for work since I work graveyard shift. Thanks!!!Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use
April 25, 2011
Great jacket, It's windproof, real warm by itself with a light baselayer under(like Rab PS ZIP). But It's not very packable? This jacket runs large, especially compared to other brands. I usually wear L (5'8", 187 lbs), But this time,i was swimming in the large and it was hard to cram into a shell.
Patagonia micro puff
March 29, 2013
I was looking for something to wear under my ski jacket for layering, this does the trick and then some. This jacket is very light warm and packable. I liked it so much I wear it in the spring by itself. The only thing I would change is that instead of the included storage bag the storage pocket should be sewn to the inside of this coat like on the Patagonia sweater which I own and love. Carrying an extra bag in you pocket takes up space. One BIG plus for this jacket is the slightly longer sleeves. Finally you can fully extend your arms and keep warm.Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of use, Great value
March 14, 2009
It is warm and feels as though you do not have a jacket on at all. I enjoy the freedom of movement that this jacket allows.
March 07, 2011
I bought this jacket for a February trip to Paris. The weather was as expected, damp and cold, but not below freezing. The micro puff was the perfect weight for this weather. I was warm enough without the bulk of a heavier jacket. I did add a Marmot Precip shell on top when it was raining/drizzling/???, since I needed a hood and a little extra wind resistance. The fit: I'm short and chunky (5'6", 190), and the large was perfect. Roomy enough for a sweater underneath, but also comfortable with just a shirt.
Great warm jacket.
April 02, 2010
I can't believe it is so light for a winter jacket, same with other Patagonia jackets, this jacket is high quality and looks stylish, I am so happy to get it.
Puffy but not bulky or too puffy
September 19, 2010
Nice warm jacket. Easy care and more functional than the typical puffed out down jacket. Very light. Should be good to wear for years.Pros: Great design, Build quality, Ease of use
April 01, 2011
The Nano is incrdibly lightweight, you hardly notice you have it on. It is a great shell that stops the wind in its tracks. It Looks great and even though it is a pullover slides on and off easily. I have been wearing it as another winter jacket.
Light / Warm / Packs Small
January 16, 2009
Very satisfied with this jacket. This jacket is half the weight of my heaviest fleece and warmer. You hear a lot of comments regarding size about this jacket. I am 6'1" and 190 pounds and got a size large which was roomy enough to layer but not too big.
December 16, 2010
I purchased this jacket to wear on the river while fly fishing. This jacket is super warm on those frigid days on the water. When it warms up I can pack it down and it easily fits into the back pocket of my fly vest. I am 6'4 and 200lbs, a medium fit me great. I would highly recommend this jacket to anyone who doesn't want to stay off the water just because it's cold outside.Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of use, Great value
February 07, 2009
Light weight, compacts down to nothing, a great jacket!
Lightweight Yet Extremely Warm
January 03, 2010
This jacket is just what my son wanted - very lightweight, not bulky, but warm. Great fit - very pleased with purchase.
great jacket for layering
June 07, 2009
This is a great jacket for hiking in damp and cold conditions. It doesn't restrict any movements, sleeves don't ride up when you reach upwards and it is roomy enough to layer it with my down jacket underneath at campside. It works perfectly into my layering system.
Great Quality Jacket! Warm and sleek look
December 27, 2010
First of all the jacket was shipped very quickly by Altrec and received with no flaws. The jacket is a typical patagonia product, very well crafted jacket and superior quality. The jacket is warm, not bulky, and fits true to size in my opinion. I went with a size smaller(medium) than I normally wear(large) due to the all of the reviews I read. The medium was just two snug for my liking so I returned it for a large.Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Great value
Warm for its weight
March 29, 2013
Jacket fits well and is long enough in the sleeves and the back, which is great because I'm 6-2, 180lbs, and ordered a Large. Very warm for its weight. If you're not moving around, seems like it would be warm to 30 degrees F. Because it is so light weight, it doesn't seem like the exterior material would be very durable, but hopefully it will be fine ... it's probably stronger material than it looks. And if not, Pantagonia has a great lifetime warranty, so I'm not worried. I'm glad I got this jacket instead of the thinner, not-as-warm Nano Puff jacket. My only complaint is it's tough to get the collar of this jacket to lay down. When I'm driving in a car, have the jacket unzipped and I don't want the collar poking me in the cheek or neck, I have to constantly fiddle with it and fold it down. Maybe over time this will wear-in a little and lay down better. I like that the pockets are zippered and all zippers on the jacket seem to be very good quality. Also, I think this will make a very good mid layer on really cold days.Pros: Build quality, Great value, warm for its weight
February 20, 2011
This Patagonia jacket works well by itself or as a layer on especially cold days. It fits my larger frame quite nicely, and I prefer the lower profile that the micro puff's insulation provides. The only potential issue is that I am already seeing some wear on the sleeve's shell after minimal wear.Pros: Great design, Performance, Cons: Wears quickly
Nice versatile jacket for the New England weather
December 30, 2009
Bought this for my brother-in-law who needed something other than his go-to hard shell for the cold weather. He loves it. Lightweight but he says it is warm. It looks good too. He about 5'8 190lbs. A large fit him pretty well.
April 02, 2013
It is lightweight and very easy to be put it in a backpack. It's run big. In general, excellent jacket for a wide range for temperature.Pros: Build quality, Performance, Ease of use, Great value
Light and warm
April 06, 2009
Great jacket. More of a relaxed fit. I would recommend it to anyone who wants light packable and warm.
Nice jacket but bad customer service
January 02, 2010
Terrific jacket. But Altrec did not ship 2 day air as advertised. As a result my dad got his Xmas gift on new years eve. Altrec did not bother to respond to my phone and email inquiries. Lousy customer service.
February 26, 2009
This is the perfect all around weather jacket for a guy. It's lightweight and not bulky, but still protects you from the cold.
Patagonia Micro Puff Jacket
December 09, 2010
As I've trended towards Veganism, I purchased the Patagonia Micro Puff Jacket as a replacement for my down 700 fill Mountain Hardware jacket. I have to say that I was expecting a jacket with similar dimensions. The Micro Puff jacket is not a down jacket replacement. I wore it for the first time today in CT weather that was around 35 degrees. As it is much thinner than a comparable down jacket, I wore it underneath my canvas Carhart jacket. Together, I was very comfortable. This jacket is an excellent layer for a shell or rain coat but I'm not sure it would be adequate as a stand alone winter jacket. So keep this in mind when you purchase. Definitely not going to be your go-to Winter jacket but could work perfectly well for cooler-to-cold Fall weather. Otherwise, the jacket is extremely light and fits like an afterthought. I would recommend the jacket as a layer though. Not as your sole Winter coat. Hope this helps!Pros: Build quality, ultra light
December 08, 2010
I got this jacket for back country skiing, to put on while switching over from skinning up. Because its not a tight fit and water resistant, i can put it over my shell in a hurry to stay warm, then cram it back in my pack easily. Also good after kayaking when i am wet and need to get warm quick. The synthetic insulation seems durable in both those cases. looks good enough to wear around townPros: Great design, Build quality, Performance
GOOD OVERALL JACKET
April 04, 2011
Great jacket w/o all the bulk of a down coat. Unbelievably warm for as light and thin as it is. The fit of the jacket is relaxed with plenty of mobility throughout the arms and torso and is very comfortable to wear in the car. The cut of the coat seems to be designed for layering which seems to offer the best performance for mid-winter days. No problems w durability as of yet and I believe w proper care, I can get quite a few seasons out of this jacket. Overall, I am very pleased.
Excellent lightweight jacket
April 01, 2009
Very warm considering the weight. If you are looking for a jacket that has the warmth without the bulk, this is a great choice.
lightweight and warm
July 23, 2009
I purchased this jacket mainly for layering. It works great under my camo clothing for hunting.I usually put it on when I get to my stand.Great warmth for the weight.
Great 'grab-to-go-anywhere' jacket
March 16, 2010
As expected from Patagonia - a solid, well engineered jacket. I got it to use for everything from cold weather outer layer to variable spring conditions in Utah. It has not disappointed. Light weight and easy to keep handy. Highly recommended.
March 18, 2013
For my first experience buying from altrec and buying a patagonia product, for the price I'm very satisfied. A nice go to jacket as what others had said. Using it for work since I work graveyard shift. Thanks!!!Pros: Great value
Super Warm for the weight!
February 20, 2010
This is a great Jacket. Warm and packs down very small.
Like a boiler...
March 07, 2009
This jacket is super warm. First weekend I had it we went hiking in 0-degree weather in the Shenandoah. I actually put on too many layers. Once I shed down to one layer (Capilene 2), this jacket was perfect. The material seems very solid. I was a little worried it might tear, but have not had any problems. I am 6'2" and 200 lbs, so I ordered the extra large for room to layer, but if I had to do it again and because the jacket is so warm (only really need one layer), I would probably by a large.
Great for Cold Weather
November 14, 2013
I was pleasantly surprised with this jacket. It is definitely thin enough to pack, but is amazingly warm. Very good quality; great material.Pros: Build quality, Ease of use, Great value
Warm, warm warm!
March 30, 2009
This jacket keeps the wind off your back and your body heat inside. It's not too bulky, easily compressing (in it's handy stuff sack) to a manageable size. Great for the trail or in town.
December 14, 2010
Love this jacket. Warm without being too bulky and packs up nice and small into the stuff sack for traveling. Same great quality as you would expect from Patagonia. Fits true to size. I would definitely recommend this jacket.Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever
Light, warm, comfortable
February 05, 2011
This jacket is great value. I wanted a lightweight jacket without compromising warmth. This jacket is both light and warm. It is very mobile as well, as it folds down to be very small. I am also very happy with the comfort. Great value and versatility for the price.Pros: Ease of use, Great value
Warm and Light
January 21, 2011
Another fine quality product from Patagonia. The jacket is very comfortable and warm. It does a decent job of repelling water in light misty condition. But best of all, it is lightweight for the amount of warmth it provides. I will keep purchasing Patagonia products. Good product, great company.Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance
January 13, 2011
very nice and super warm. Just got it so dont know how long it lasts/durability. But since getting it I've enjoyed wearing it and being toasty.
January 09, 2011
This is the first Patagonia puffy coat purchased, and my son whose 22 loves it. It fits him perfectly. He says it doesn't even feel like he is wearing a coat because it is so lightweight. It is very comfortable to wear in the car, indoor shopping, as well as outdoors. It folds into a ball for packing and will not weigh down your luggage. I want to buy my husband one, I like it so much.Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of use
Exactly what I expected.
December 03, 2009
Runs a little large but that is good for layering!
January 24, 2009
5'8", 145 lbs, and the medium is too big. Would fit over a few other layers, but it's unsuitable for an outer layer because the shell material would rip too easily. The quality of material and zippers, as well as the overall cut, is what you'd expect from Patagonia - first rate. But their sizing chart is a little odd on this one.
Cool looking but not the best fit...
May 19, 2011
When I pulled this jacket out of its packing I was excited...it looks much better than the nano puff with none of the garbage bag crinkly look, but then I was somewhat disappointed. I am about 6'1" 175-180 lbs and haven't hit the bench press in a good while, however, the chest on my size medium was somewhat tight while the waist was loose (and my waist isn't as small as it once was). Some reviews say this is good for layering, but for casual wear it makes for an odd fit. On the bright side, the sleeves are a great generous length. This might be great for some people but I'll be returning it. For a more athletic fit and similar jacket I would recommend the Mountain Hardwear Compressor or the GoLite Cady.Pros: Great design, Build quality, Cons: shape/fit
April 13, 2013
Light but definitely heavier than nano puff or down jacket. I prefer the nano puff or down jacket for Northern California climate.Pros: Great design, Build quality, Ease of use, Great value
