Designed with durable and amazingly efficient 100-g PrimaLoft® One synthetic insulation, the Puff Vest traps heat even when wet, while its DWR (durable water repellent) 100% all-recycled polyester shell (1.5-oz 32-denier; lining is 1.4-oz 22-denier) blocks wind and sheds snow. Two hand-warmer and one interior zippered chest pocket that doubles as a stuff sack (with a carabiner clip-in loop) offer convenient storage for essentials. Men's Micro Puff Vest 4.8 5 64 64
If you are familiar with Patagonia sizing, this is what I would call a slim fit. Some of the reviews were miss leading to me. This fits more like a slim fit R2 fleece. As for warmth, I believe it's on par with if not warmer then my 800 fill down sweater. Typical with Patagonia light weight gear, the zipper is light duty, meaning that unless the zipper is fully seated before pulling up, the zipper will split open from the bottom. Not necessarily a problem but somewhat annoying. My R2 zipper has done this dozens of times but still works fine if I zip it up correctly. The Micro Puff seems to be the same. February 7, 2012
Love it I bought this for my husband and he loves it. It's light weight and very comfortable. He is 6', 160lbs and the medium was a perfect fit for him. I would definitely recommend this product. January 23, 2012
Ideal Gift I purchased this vest as a Christmas gift to my son-in-law, who is 27 and physically fit. He typically wears a large in shirts, coats, etc. so I purchased a large in the vest and it fit him perfectly. He told me he especially likes the inside pocket for his I-phone and money safety as well as the non-bulky layering that he is doing in the winter here in Northwest Indiana. He loves the color brown I chose, and the warmth it provided when he wore it without an over layer. We are going skiing soon and his luggage will be lighter having this vest than any of his other brand vests, so he will definitely take this one for its compact packing too. He is very happy with his gift! January 22, 2012
good purchase Nice vest, not quite as warm as I expected. Vegan, so love insulation that is not down! Very lightweight and comfortable, have only worn it half a dozen times, have not washed it, seems like it will be durable; well-made. Overall, happy with purchase, just need an extra layer underneath. I wanted an over-size vest, I am female, 5' 8" 150 lbs., ordered a men's large. It isn't too big, just slightly around armholes. January 22, 2012
Lightweight yet Warm In comparison to the North Face ACONCAGUA vest, this vest is much more comfortable and lighter in thickness. This vest also is a little shorter in the length and fits better. I'm 5'11" tall and about 180 lbs the large size fit perfectly. I wear the vest by itself or overall a sweater. Overall, I'm pleased wit the fit and quality. January 16, 2012
Great vest I bought this vest for my husband who commutes to work in the cold northeast weather. He loves it and says its also suitable to wear in the office. It fits true to size and it does not look too bulky on him. It keeps him warm while looking good at the same time! January 13, 2012
Awesome Vest Despite packing down to about the size of a softball, this vest brings some serious warmth and comfort. Works great as an outer layer in cool temps and under a shell in cold to frigid temps. So nice to pull this thing out of my pack when temperatures drop. January 6, 2012
Fits well, very warm. Fits underneath my synchilla. I can wear on a very cold day wearing just a long sleeved shirt. The ability to stuff it in itself is very useful. January 5, 2012
Small I purchased this for my husband for Christmas. It seemed to run small, especially through the chest, and the armholes seemed very small. The waist fit a bit boxy. All in all, the cut of the garment was odd. My husband is 5'10", 170 pounds with a 40" chest and a 33" waist. He wears a medium in just about everything. I returned it. January 1, 2012
Patagonia Micro Puff Vest Excellent vest. Lightweight and warm. I had a chance to use it at Bretton Woods this week. I wore it under an Arcteryx Stingray Shell and it was plenty warm. I used it just walking around town with a sweater underneath and it was fine. It is surprisingly warm for such light weight. December 31, 2011
Awesome Vest After borrowing my buddy's Micro Puff Vest last winter, I decided I needed one of my own. Very warm vest--ideal as a midlayer or stand-alone layer. Great fit and good looking. I'm 5'9" 160, and the Medium fits perfectly. I use it both for running along Lake Michigan and for casual wear. Also can easily be stuffed into a pack or suitcase to go with you wherever your journey might take you. December 29, 2011
Micro Puff: The Real Deal The micro puff vest is an excellent addition to your clothing system for any outdoor pursuits. Wear it as an outer layer to insure core warmth or it can be worn as mid layer insulation. It's non bulky but has great warmth value. And it still has style for around town. December 22, 2011
Lightweight & Warm This vest provides outstanding insulation and is very lightweight. I like to bring it along when I go backpacking just in case it gets chilly. It's highly compressible and fits nicely under a rain shell. It's also treated with water repellent so when water drops fall on it they tend to bead up helping to keep you dry. This is a great insulating vest - highly recommended. November 2, 2011
the best synthetic vest This vest does a great job. Although I purchased larger size and purchased smaller one later as well(size M which I usually wear), I feel normal size fits perfect. Some told this best fits smaller, I took it for granted. I think people should buy the normal size for this item. It looks good over T's, long sleeve shirts as well as sweaters or sweat shirts. It is packable and looks still rigid and firm when you wear it. I love black color as it goes with any color. Patagonia black is very sophisticated and can match well with any color. October 20, 2011
It is warm though is thin The first impression to this vest of me was very light and was thin. So, I was worried whether I was able to keep warmth by this. However, it ended in imaginary fears. Because this vest is not bulky even if it puts on the jacket and the coat under, it is very useful. I am convinced that this vest can be worn long. August 16, 2011
solid purchase I've used this product mostly as a midlayer or over a long sleeve t-shirt. It is warm and breathable but not too hot. The fit is true to size - I had tried the Patagonia down vest but the fit was too tight. Seems to be very durable but I have only worn it for a couple of months. I have other items from Patagonia and they have all held up very well. Very happy with purchase - would highly recommend. May 4, 2011
Great versatile jacket This vest is warm, but breathes. Since it is not too thick it is great for layering and keeps your core warm. The fit may slightly big, it was a little bigger than older medium jackets I have from Patagonia. April 25, 2011
Great Vest I love this vest, got it to replace a standard fleece vest. Nice performance fit even though it's says regular fit. I think it is somewhere between regular and a climbing fit. I'm 6'2 185 and large was right on, and long enough. Zips into it's own pocket for easy packing. Very warm for it's light weight. Appears to be good quality. Only concern with any outerwear of this material is durability, I can see it easily getting picked or torn on something sharp. Overall, awesome! and the bonus was I caught it on sale! February 9, 2011
Equipment not clothing This vest should be sold as gear, not clothing. Since I got it, I've worn it constantly. We have had a cold winter so under a windbreaker it is perfect for cross country skiing. Since it is windproof, it is that much better. Under a shell it is just right for some added warmth on the slopes. Feather light, you hardly know it is on. As a bonus, the fabric doesn't stain; it washed out well. Take my word for it, don't forget it is on and work on your car. I can't say how long it will last but the few other Patagonia items I own last for ever. February 6, 2011
Good for layering Excellent vest for layering. Warm without too much bulk. Very good quality. Useful both for outdoor sports or just staying warm in the cold. Wore it during a recent winter trip to Eastern Europe and it helped ward off the chill. January 30, 2011
micro puff good fit, nice base layer under shell jacket for ice climbing and skiing, good around the house on a chilly morning January 17, 2011
Bought this for my husband. He has several North Face jackets and parkas, but he likes this vest the best. Uses it with the R2 fleece, which is great for early Spring through late fall. He also wears the vest under other coats for added warmth in the winter. It's very lightweight but also warm and waterproof (good for hiking). It also seems like a product that lasts. He is an XL and it ran true to size. January 13, 2011
my dad love it Bought this vest for my dad's birthday. He loves it. It's soft and light for him to wear in home. And warm enough to go out. Very happy to make this purchase. January 12, 2011
Micro Puff Vest Delivers the Goods I'm 6' 1"; 180 pounds; athletic build. I was looking for a lightweight, slim fit vest to layer for cold runs or seasonal hikes and Patagonia's micro puff vest delivers. Initially I purchased a medium which fit too tight around the waist when zipped so I exchanged it for a large it fit perfectly. Keep in mind it's ultra lightweight, PrimaLoft insulation will not keep you warm in extreme cold, but for typical NJ winters, it's just fine. I also appreciate the synthetic insulation because I'm allergic to down. One con is that the zippers are a bit small & flimsy. I feel like I'm going to rip them off the jacket when I try to zip it up or down. Patagonia should have used a sturdier zipper or sewn them in better. Overall though I'm extremely pleased. January 12, 2011
The perfect insulated vest I have two of these vests. Purchased the the second one (in a different color) about a month after the first one. That's how much I like this vest. It is so light, and fits so well, that you barely know you have it on. Yet its toasty warmth is easily adjustable from unzipped (open) to fully zipped up around your neck. The gently elastic arm openings keep the body heat in around your torso where it belongs. Also, the two zippered side pockets are great for keeping your hands warm as well. I wear this vest all the time now -- and completely control how warm I am. I sit on the sofa and watch TV with it unzipped or slightly zipped. I've walked my dog when the temperature dropped into the 30's with just this vest zipped up around my neck as warmth and was comfortable. It is the best designed vest I can imagine and I plan to always have it on when the temperature drops much below the 70's. Again, love the colors (I have green and black), love the lightweight materials (seems almost weightless), love the easily adjustable warmth, love the styling and fit, love the stitch pattern, love the thinness of the vest as it easily fits under coats, etc., and love the collar which allows the vest to perform a duty as a scarf as well. I HIGHLY recommend you purchase this vest. January 11, 2011
Awesome Vest This is a fantastic vest, and covers all the basics. I have a NF Denali vest and this thing is much warmer, fits better (NF Denali is much larger), and is sturdier. Very stylish, warm, and extremely well made. January 10, 2011
Great Vest I have 3 of these vests. They are perfect for all occasions. I wear them to the office and to the ranch. A Bone Daddy’s girl complimented my vest the other day while wearing one there! They are warm enough to take the edge off and light enough to not get hot. They pack up supper small and travel great! December 23, 2010
Warm as down but less bulky I'll be wearing my micropuff vest in place of my down vest this winter. It is every bit as warm as a 700 - 800 fill vest with half the bulk. Even better it maintains it's warmth in the damp and wet. The decreased bulk lends itself much better for layering than does a down vest. Fit is spot on for a medium (5'8" 160 lbs) and the quality is excellent and typical of Patagonia clothing. I thought the nanopuff pullover was my favorite for staying warm now I have to decide! December 22, 2010
The Only Vest I Own! This vest is very versatile. You can wear it as outer-wear on cool days or as a extra warm layer beneath a shell or parka on cold days. It slim profile adds warmth not bulk. I prefer the synthetic insulation over down for its better insulating ability in the wet Pacific Northwest. This is one of my favorite pieces by Patagonia. I wear it in town and in the back-country. November 27, 2010
Great vest I have an older model....you can't go wrong with this vest. Extremely lightweight for the amount of warmth it provides. Perfect for lounging or layering. September 15, 2010
Great vest w/ large arm holes Mango is a hi-via color. I usually wear large shirts & med pants, but for this vest I opted for med which still has relatively large arm holes. Nicely made, thermal qualities are not yet tested. I'd buy it again, given a choice. Hagr August 7, 2010
Great Lightweight Year - Round Vest I bought two of these vests as gifts and they are terrific! They can be warn over a sweater, shirt or t-shirt and fold up to nothing in a suitcase. April 30, 2010
Very handy and high quality Beautifully made vest which, though light, is surprisingly warm. Perfect over a sweater in the 50-60F temperature range. April 5, 2010
Very nice vest!!! This vest is extremely light, and yet very warm. I am very much satisfied with it and would highly recommend. March 14, 2010
Great functioning piece What a great Jacket. Keeps you nice and toasty, but lightweight. Fits a little big, so if you are between sizes, choose the smaller of the two. February 18, 2010
Functionally, great. Form lacking This a very lightweight vest but offers great warmth. Exterior is water resistant which is also a great advantage. All that said, I don't love the styling. Like another reviewer pointed out, it runs large. I tried a medium which was way too small, but the large feels to big. The shoulders come out too much, like you're wearing shoulder pads. Perhaps that's fine for wearing over a bulky sweater, but it looks like overkill when wearing inside. February 17, 2010
Quality Vest Well made and warm. Runs larger than some--I have about a 41 inch chest and tried a medium in a couple of other brands, but they were too small. Zippers and construction are top-notch. I have a couple of natural down jackets but was glad to get this vest with synthetic loft for better wet weather performance. All in all, I'm very happy with this purchase. February 6, 2010
Wonderful product! Bought this vest as a gift and now want one of my own. Fits great. Warm. Comfy. January 25, 2010
Love it! Love it and it looks great! January 4, 2010
great vest but issues with size It is such a shame to me because in so many ways, this is the perfect vest. unfortunately i am right in between two sizes, m & l. I bought a large and i was floating in it. I returned it and bought a medium and it's a bit snug. the main problem with the medium is that it's way too short. I am bout 6'1" and relatively thin. i wish the large catered to a smaller size group. anyway about the vest. It's awesome. Warm when you need warmth and light when you're comfortable. I wear it outside with layers and i wear it around the house all the time. Great overall product. i wish i could have one custom made for me! December 21, 2009
Thoroughly Satisfied Great jacket. Fits true size. Everything Fantastic. December 19, 2009
Good looking vest I bought this vest for my boyfriend for Christmas and the color is great (I bought the grey) and it fits perfectly. He loves it. It's also very warm and comfortable, he says. December 7, 2009
Fits great over layers, needs stuff sack The long sleeve version has another stuff sack - which makes it much more convenient to pack in my view than the pocket. The vest is warm though, but it could be warmer - not nearly as "puffy" as down - it dries quickly at least in a strong alaska summer sun July 5, 2009
Excellent build and comfort The patagonia micro puff vest is light and can be easily packed without taking much space. Yet it is warm enough to wear in Texas winter and not too warm for a chilly spring or fall night. June 28, 2009
Great Vest This vest is really versatile and works over all 4 seasons. You can layer it and it compresses really well for either travel or backpacking. One of my favorite pieces of outdoor clothing. April 4, 2009
Great everyday vest I haven't had a chance to get this onto the trail yet, but I've really enjoyed wearing it for everyday purposes. It is super light, and very warm. I love the inside "stuff sack" pocket. All three of the pockets are huge. March 30, 2009
Quality product Material is warm and light, still insulative when wet. Great choice for packing as it compresses really well. Fit was true to size and zippers/seams/sewing were all top notch. Get it! February 8, 2009
Runs a little wide I really like this vest. Bought it for my husband - he usually wears a XL but I think this vest runs kind of wide. It seems true to size in the length. I exchanged it for the L and both the large and x-large seem about the same in the length. Hope that is helpful! December 29, 2008
Light weight, well made and warm It is a great layer for cool windy days for hiking and other outdoor activities. September 29, 2008
Overall very nice Light, warm, packable - a lot of flexibility. My only issue is not too major, but the vest does not fit very close - a bit baggy. Overall still happy with the purchase April 12, 2008
Patagonia Micro Puff Vest An awesome vest! Super light and pack into the inside pocket to about the size of a grapefruit. Really warm, you can layer it with anything......over a flannel shirt around town or a baselayer for active sports. Highly recommended and it's "green" with pretty much all recycled materials. March 24, 2008
The Perfect Vest? I am fully satisfied with my purchase here. The vest is great. Its warm, packs down small, semi-windproof, and looks great. I have been wearing a fleece, the vest, and a shell for skiing. I plan on using it in the summer for backpacking, because it packs down to the size of a can of fuel. March 4, 2008
super warm, light and compressible I skiied in sub-zero blizzard conditions with nothing but a base layer and this vest and I actually had to open the pit zips on my shell at times because the vest kept me so warm. I would recommend it to anyone. February 26, 2008
perfect layer Lightweight and compressible for stashing in a pack. Provided excellent core warmth. February 22, 2008
patagonia micro vest Excellent warmth! This is my second one and I wear them anywhere with just a light fleece under and stay warm.. highly recommend, great for outdoor sports in the midwest February 13, 2008
Light and warm Warm for its weight but fragile fabric. January 20, 2008
weight to warmth ratio can't be beat I purchased the Micro Puff Vest for a hike across England along Hadrian's wall. I never needed it. It was my extra (and essential) layer of core warmth in case I got stuck and had to spend the night on the trail. It was security, really, and the lightweight made it well worth it -- the large weighed in at 7.4 ounces. I layed over in Iceland for a few days on my return to the U.S. The temperatures were much colder and I wore the vest each evening while exploring. I had a base layer and 100 weight polartec fleece under the vest, and a waterproof/windproof shell over it. It did the trick and I stayed nice and warm. I am a bit of an extremist when it comes to weight. I try to leave at home anything that is not absolutely necessary on my backpacking trips. I do believe, however, that an extra (emergency) layer of core warmth IS necessary (you may never need it... but if you do, you'll be damn glad to have it). The Micro Puff Vest serves this function well, weighs in at only a couple of ounces more than my capaline base layer, and packs down nice and small. It is now an integral part of my gear list for even the simplest hiking expeditions. September 19, 2006
crazy small and lightweight what can I say? small, compressible, lightweight, warm... it's all been said before... great vest! August 21, 2006
great little layering piece lightweight, compresses very small; great to carry as an extra layer for mountaineering, lift skiing, or whatever May 17, 2006
Good light weight body core insulation. Very light weight. Compresess into small pocket. Good weight to warmth and bulk ratio. Has a regular, non-athletic fit so that can wear over other layers easily. Not as warm as the Patagonia Micro Puff Pullover. If looking for more warmth in cold environment, try the Pullover. April 7, 2006
Yeah Patagonia I have several patagonia puffball vests -- this one I bought x large to fit over jackets and such -- it is wonderful -- stuffs into its on pocket --- would love to get it in another color. October 19, 2005
light and warm I love all patagonia products -- this is just another excellent vest -- very light weight and warm -- dries quick and keeps you warm even when wet. Stuffs into its own pocket -- a must have Sandi October 18, 2005
Featherweight Warmth I thought the box from Altrec was empty. Inside was a puffy powerhouse of core minimalist warmth. This vest is the design I was seeking - no frills torso cold protection for wearing under my shell jacket. A pullover with no pockets or zippers-just a few snaps-it stuffs beautifully into it's own built in stuffsack...just the insurance I needed for cooler nights. May 29, 2005
Light weight, breathable, good warmth, & great fit The material selection is great, it is a very lightweight ripstop nylon, which makes it very breathable. I've used it at base camp in high 30 deg F weather, with on ly a long sleeve shirt on and was toasty warm. The front has a deep V-neck with 5 snap buttons, and there is an inside napolean pocket that turns into a reversible storage pocket for the vest. The fit is just right. It is form fitting but generous enough to allow for a base layer and a low pile insulation layer. The vest itself is not very bulky and should layer well with your outer shell. The vest material is super slick so it makes taking the vest on & off a breeze. It has a long hem so it provides good back coverage, with a snug elastic hem that will not ride up your back. I use it everywhere: in the house, around town, at work - It is a great investment - designed and built with Patagonia's top notch quality, and warranty. I highly recommend it. May 27, 2005
