Patagonia Men's R2® Jacket
Redesigned with a slimmer fit and a new fabric, Patagonia's multipurpose R2® Jacket offers better breathability and mobility for climbing, hiking, running and fastpacking. Patagonia gave their R2® Jacket a new variegated polyester fiber design with thicker fibers where you need the insulation and shorter, wind-resistant fleece in all the places you need protection and mobility. The stretchy R1® panels along the sleeves and sides are still there to eliminate the bunches and binds, but the entire construction is tapered with a slimmer fit for better layering beneath a waterproof and breathable skiing or backpacking shell. High hand pockets and lowered shoulder seams give you better access and comfort beneath a loaded backpack than traditional fleece midweight jackets. If you're ready to lighten up and breathe a little easier on the trail, Patagonia's redesigned R2® is an excellent midweight essential.
- Redesigned 7.9-oz. R2® Polartec® Thermal Pro® polyester fabric with R1® Stretch Panel fabric consisting of Polartec Power Dry® (98% polyester/2% Spandex) along the sleeves and torso
- Articulated elbows and raglan sleeves with strategically-placed seams turned away from pack hot spots
- Reverse-coil zippers on left chest pocket and handwarmer pockets allow access beneath a pack or harness
- Enhanced fit with tapered torso for easier layering combined with less fabric cling
- Chin flap over main zipper
- Alpine-style collar features soft and stretchy R1® fabric lining

This jacket is very warm for its weight and thickness. The sleeves and sides have the R1 fleece that lets the jacket breathe very well. Perfect for layering beneath a waterproof shell. Thanks Altrec

R2 is a great layering piece for any winter activity. Best of all, it is super lightweight and not bulky at all. It is also warm enough to wear alone on warmer winter days. I've always loved patagonia for their practical gear. It is pricey, but I think totally worth it.
