Description
Patagonia's most technical core warmer comes in an improved, even more versatile fabric. The new Men's R2 Vest is designed in variable-knit polyester (7.4-oz Polartec® Thermal Pro® that's 40% recycled) to enhance compressibility, breathability, and moisture-management. With R1® stretch panels along the torso, backs of armholes and collar, this low-bulk warming insulation really shins when worn under a shell. The R2 Vest is recyclable through the Common Threads Recycling Program.

Best liked gift
I bought this for my boyfriend for Christmas. He hasn't taken it off since - he says that it's warm under his coat and great for wearing indoors. Finally a gift that he likes!

R2 vest-great texture
The texture of this vest is very different, light and soft. You will like it if you want a soft touch to your casual half vest. Not for outdoor activity.

The fleece on the r2 is soft, plush and very lightweight. It's not the same after a wash, even a dry clean, but still holds up quite well. It's a technical fit, cut pretty slim. Great layering piece under a shell as it maintains mobility.

Warm and light weight
The high quality is typical of Patagonia clothing. The vest is sharp looking and very functional. I have several vests and this is definitely one of the favorites. Like most of Patagonia's technical wear, it is well fitted and proportioned. Be warned though, the close fit does not leave much room for many layers of clothing underneath.

Though each Patagonia® product is designed and shaped specifically for its intended use, we can generalize our fit descriptions in four ways:
Formfitting: Conforms to the body's contours.
Slim Fit: Closer-fitting. Slim-fitting technical garments may be worn over baselayers and light midlayers.
Regular Fit: Neither slim nor oversized. Regular-fitting technical garments may be worn over heavier midlayers.
Relaxed Fit: Drapes loosely on the body.
Classic Boy Fit: Boxy, athletic, with a traditional crew neck.
Anika Fit: Formfitting and longer in the torso, with a wider, deeper neck (not quite scoop).
