Great Pants
August 22, 2010

These pants are comfortable yet formal enough for that meeting with your next potential boss. The only complaint I would have is that the sizing doesn't seem consistent with other Patagonia pants. I'm typically a medium in Patagonia pants, so I ordered a medium. I had to return them and order a large. The large was just right in the length, but WAY to big in the waist; good thing they have a drawstring. Other than that, they are great. The huge gusset allows for full range of motion for the adventure of your choice. Good buy.

Great pants, usual wacky Patagonia sizing

Who needs pants that are half way between sweats and khakis? You do! The Retro Grade Pants are super comfortable (baggy)but still look good. The only problem is Patagonia's inexplicable love of the highwater look. Get a size larger if you want the inseam to be long enough.

Very comfortable with the right features
May 21, 2010

Very comfortable for both climbing and walking. Nice to have a pair of climbing pants with a zippered fly so you don't have to remove your harness. Zippered side pocket great for wallet, keys or glasses.

comfy casual
November 12, 2010

I have two pairs of these. I haven't climbed in them but they are great as casual pants. My pant size is normally a 30 waist/32 inseam and the mediums fit me fine. I hang dry them and the inseam is just about right for me. Maybe a tad short. Hopefully, Patagonia keeps these in their line.

Retro Pants are solid!
March 29, 2011

Rec'd these pants last week and love them so far. They are very comfortable to wear around town and have a different look. Saw some reviews regarding them shrinking significantly after washing, but that didn't happen to mine after first wash (regular wash and dry). Hopefully won't happen after further washings. As usual, hard to go wrong with Patagonia!

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance

Good material, Sizing is odd, drawstring is a plus.

The sizes only come in S, M, L, XL. The M fit good (I am 5'11") but I haven't washed them. Worse case scenario is I have to get the hems extended... goes to show you that I do like the pants...

Absolutely Comfortable
November 20, 2010

I was a bit hesitant buying these after reading some of the past reviews. I'm really glad I purchased them. Didn't experience any of the problems some of the other reviewers posted. Really comfortable. I love the elastic waist as well as it provides more of snug fit.

Can't go wrong
March 29, 2011

Though a bit pricey, I have never had a better pair of pants for climbing. Especially ones that I don't feel self-conscious about wearing to grab some grub after some laps. Make sure you get the right waist size...a 32 is actually a 32 and they don't stretch much.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use, Cons: Cost

It is a very wonderful pants.

It is easy to move to the bouldering very much. Making is steady. The pocket may be also deep. I will keep putting this on.

Too small
July 18, 2009

I really liked the style and fabric of these but had to return them due to being too small in the hips and the waist. I'm not sure going up a size would give the right fit. The fabric is really cool though.

Washed once- now too short
December 20, 2010

Though previous reviewers said the same thing, I gave this pant a try because of the fabric. If the length shrinking was not a problem, these would be great pants. I am 5' 9" and they are too short.
