Men's Rubicon Rider Jacket 4.9 5 10 10
Meticulous stitching. Good quality First, the good products cheaply purchased came in the Glorious. Each meticulously created with a good reputation for quality products. If you bought a little early, dressed to the left lane is a good product, was unhappy. Some other people want to recommend is a product. April 15, 2011
This Ruby's no Con...but a Gem I am 6'2" 175lbs....got the large in black....yes, it is big and boxy..best for cold alpine skiing with big gloves and windy chairlifts when you are trying to unzip or grab the hood..loves bashing the tree runs all day and doesn't snag or tear like my Cloudveil Enclosure Jacket did...amazingly warm despite the ample inside spaces that you would expect to be hard to warm up without adding another layer. so many features....the pockets are right where you want them and swallow gear such as goggles, wallet, ipod, bobo bar, map,and due to the oversizing you can hardly notice that your jacket has become a body pack!....zip off hood and skirt lighten the load (not a featherweight jacket) for around town Monty Wards styling..very unique texture and quilted patterns..pair with OR Odd Job hat and a Cuban and you could down an ole swill in seconds ala Jackie Gleason....Hood fits over ski helmet, bike helmet, climbing helmet....any freakin head covering you have and it cinches down tight. Hood zipped off leaves a nice high collar that almost covers your ears! Pit zips are key to vent off heat...Cons...$ and weight and hem draw cords thru pockets a bit slow to tug and unlock. Great jacket--must have! Got this jacket for my partner for christmas. He didn't have a good winter jacket and had been layering with lots of fleeces, sweatshirts and under armour for years. He has worn this on the coldest, windiest, snowing, nastiest days here in Central IL and absolutely loves it. One thing the description didn't note is that the hood is removeable, which is a really nice feature if you want to go out on the town. Very stylish jacket. This must be a snowboarding jacket, because it is very boxy and runs big. He is very slim and athletic, but he likes it. January 11, 2011
Have only worn around town so far. Typical well mad Patagonia item. I'm usually a true medium (5'7", 150#) and it fits well. has enough room for a couple layers underneath. Would have liked a two way zipper. Will be trying on the slopes soon. December 7, 2010
Very warm jacket I bought this jacket for my 30 yr old son Christmas of 2008. He lives in Manhatten. Absolutely loves this jacket. He says it is the warmest jacket ever and very comfortable and light. Very happy with this purchase. November 29, 2010
Excellent Warm Coat Hampered by Wimpy Zippers Just received the Rubicon in Black for 2010's winter weather in Minnesota. Patagonia's done a great job designing a warm, lightweight, soft-shelled outdoor ski/snowboard jacket. Pockets are well placed: one internal zipper pocket, internal pouch, removable snow skirt, a media hole for headphones, 4 external pockets with zipper enclosures, removable hood with handy visor to keep out blowing snow, enforced shoulder, arm, and backside panels, and zippered armpits for venting. However, with so many enclosures, why did Patagonia choose the smallest, wimpiest zippers? This is my only beef. Otherwise it's an outstanding soft-shelled jacket. I recommend it to anyone who can handle getting in and out with only a couple of snags. Not the biggest issue but a glaring deficit in otherwise an almost perfect jacket. Did I mention that it's warm? November 22, 2010
warm, great looking jacket made for snowboarding but a great around town winter jacket December 26, 2009
solid jacket Looks cool, is warm, and has good pockets, hood removes which is nice and I think I will be able to handle the winter in Chicago with this. October 29, 2009
Love this jacket I was looking a relatively lightweight winter jacket ...more than a shell, but nothing too bulky. The Rubicon Rider is perfect (and looks even better in person). It seems to be plenty warm for the Chicago winter and should work well for skiing and other outdoor activities. Patagonia makes a great product and Altrec customer service was excellent. Great Jacket I'm using this Jacket to brave the blustery streets of Boston and so far its doing a terrific job. Lightweight, warm and it looks good too. I think the sizes run a little big, I guess to accomodate more layers but so far it's warm enough. Overall the jacket is very well engineered. February 5, 2008
