Regular Fit: Neither slim nor oversized. Regular-fitting technical garments may be worn over heavier midlayers.

Sizing not good for me.

Although the quality of the jacket workmanship and materials are flawless, I found the fit subpar, and returned the jacket. Let me point out that there is no elastic in the bottom hem, and I found the sleeves to run a little short for me in size large(43 long suit size), whereas Marmot always fits, and TNF is just long enough. The lower part of the jacket just flopped around on me; I have a 35" waist, and you will definitely lose heat there. This type of jacket always has to compete with a Land's End squall, which for me would be a better fit in a tall size. If you don't already know, Altec's return policy is the best in the business and you never have to worry if something isn't what you expected. You download and print the return label, take it to the local US post office and they pay to ship it back. It definitely made me want to buy more stuff from these nice folks!
Very good jacket

This was a present for my difficult to please son. When it arrived, I thought it might be bulky but it is very warm without being bulky. It is much lighter in weight than it looks, it is well made, the fit is perfect and it looks very nice on wearing -almost dressy. My son tried it on and it did not come off even though indoors and he wore it again for the next couple of days. He will have it for a long time and will actually wear it.
I recommend this gear to keep comfortable.

The Patagonia Men's Shelled Synchilla Jacket proved to be a valuable piece of gear for this writer out on a recent fishing trip in foul Alaska winter weather. I liked the fleece interior, the wind stopping wrist elastic to keep out the cold, and the water proof shell. If it is your goal to be comfortable in extreme weather conditions; then you simply can not go wrong with the best - Patagonia (Equally a success was the fishing, achieving our limits on halibut and winter kings!).
Excellent quality, sizing off.

I ordered a large jacket and it seemed oversized, otherwise the jacket was excellent.
warm and confy jacket

Patagonia jacket never disappointed me ,their quality and function are still top in outdoor field, it is warmer than I thought. Most of all, it looks better and more stylish than its photos.
Great Coat- Fit & Style

a great coat... great service ... excellent value
May 21, 2009
The jacket is really great, fits well, warm. The fleece on the inside is top quality. As usual, Patagonia is always off a bit with their sizing, medium would be too small for me, and large is just a touch big. But not to any extent that it prevents the jacket from being useful and comfortable. Thanks Altrec

Patagonia: Men's Shelled Synchilla Jacket
February 09, 2008
The Patagonia Shelled Jacket seems to fit true to size, detail & finish is very nice. I really like this style of jacket because it keeps the heat in around the wrists, waist and protects your neck.

This is a great jacket. I had the older version of the jacket and the new one is more comfortable. first, the cuffs are more comfortable, the zippers are smoother, and the jacket looks better.

The fleece lining in the sleeves is really nice with just t-shirt. Generously sized as well.

I bought this jacket for my husband's birthday which is in just a few days. I love its look and hopefully he will love it too. It seems to be well made, came highly recommended by my daughter who loves all Patagonia products. Neena

Warm and very handy for cold weather.

I wear a 40 suit jacket, and sometimes a jacket such as this calls for a large. The medium fits perfectly and the lining is very cozy.
a versatile multipurpose garment

Like this item very much, Appropriate for a wide range of weather conditions from moderate chill - and with sweater - to quite cold...Great as go-to gear on hikes or canoe trips as well as for in town use.
Nice comfortable mostly recycled jacket

The jacket is a little puffy. Not the warmest. But very eco friendly! Comfortable! Good three season jacket.
Warm and Functional
March 24, 2009
I like the bomber style jacket. I also like Patagonia. The combination works well for me. It's warm enough that you don't have to layer when the temp drops below 40, but with a good base layer it's good into the teens. I've had some difficulty with the zippers lately, but this is a minor inconvenience. Color selection is limited. Sizes run big. Still an excellent value and jacket.
Comfortable, practical and stylish

Great, Lightweight Jacket

Especially for Georgia mild winters, perfect weight. I am a corporate pilot and its great for work, can dress up or dress down!
I love this jacket.

I bought this jacket in gravel color because it was priced at almosy $100 off the regular price, but when I received it I liked the color very much. The photo does not do it justice. It has everything Patagonia clothing is known for-warmth without bulk, understated style that never goes out of style, and quality of craftsmanship which means that I have a Patagonia fleece sweatshirt that looks great after 13 years.
Very light, very warm

For such a light jacket, it is very warm. Very satisfied with it.
