In the Olympic rain forest, "emergency" wet-weather gear serves as daily fare. The Spraymaster's new, supple jersey-knit nylon stretches the level of comfort and expands the freedom of movement of waterproof foulies . Lightweight ripstop nylon fabric under the arms quiets a ride or run, and a raised internal matrix pattern channels moisture out and slides over layers with ease. Chin guard, torso pockets and a drawcord waist and hood keep things light and simple.
Worth every penny
I spent months looking for the perfect rain jacket for high aerobic activity and I found it with this jacket.
Just ran 12 miles in the rain with temperatures in the mid-forties, and this extremely lightweight jacket kept me dry AND it breathed very well. At first, I was a bit skeptical of it’s breathability. It has no back vent or armpit vents. Just pocket vents, which I wonder how they can really work. But during my run, I never once overheated. This jacket also has an attached hood with adjustments. With a running hat and the right adjustments to the hood, no water ever came in through the top.
The fabric on this jacket isn't the hard plastic kind that you would find with heaver waterproof jackets. It is the light nylon material that you would expect to have. When water hits the material, it just beads up and drips off of the jacket. The inside material is sealed to the outside material and is supposed to be made of a wicking material. The wicking material didn't look or feel like the other technical fabric I own, but it work for I was dry for after being outside for over two hours in the rain.
I purchased a large. With this being a fitted jacket, there isn't much extra room. It offers enough for a thin base layer and another thin mid-layer, and that is probably about it. I did get a lot of compliments on its appearance.
If you hate running in the cold rain, want to be dry and do not mind dropping the $250 bones, then this jacket is for you.
