Talk about multi-purpose utility, the Patagonia Ultra Light Down Shirt for men is ready for adventure. This superlight down top holds its own as a mid-winter layer, a cold weather aerobic top and as a standalone sweater. Regardless of how you use it, you know it looks sharp thanks to Patagonia’s classic styling and trim fit. Patagonia uses the lightest-weight fabric they have ever developed for down clothing, sewn-through construction and a tight channel pattern with 800-fill down. The shirt’s slim fit maximizes efficiency, while creating a layering friendly fit. The superlight rip-stop nylon shell includes a durable water repellant finish to keep away light precipitation, while the ¼-zip front makes putting offers venting. Patagonia even includes a small stuff sack so that you can pack the shirt everywhere you go. You’ll be hard pressed to find any other product that packs in as much thermal power with as little weight and bulk as the Patagonia Ultralight Down Shirt for men.

lighter than air
February 25, 2012

Was recently in Iceland to spend time viewing the northern lights and evenings were long and cold. The patagonia shirt provided the needed warmth and for most of the time this shirt was the overlayer. The fit is somewhat tapered, but I chose the large size to accomodate ease of movement when needed. My stats are 6 feet, 185 lbs with a medium frame. The medium fits perfectly, but it looked as though I was modeling the product. Not my reason for purchasing. I particularly love the weightlessness and the compactability of this shirt, all fitting into a softball size sac. Pretty cool. The fact that there are no pockets did not deter me from aquiring this shirt as I would not want to weigh this down product down. The design was more than likely for this reason... warmth and comfort. And, we saw the lights, ghostly they were, on the morning of my Mom's passing one year ago. She was dancing!

I have been using this as part of my super ultralight backpacking kit. It is thin enough for easy layering and repels water quite well.If I take a puffier down item it usually stays in pack until bed time. The down shirt is more versatile for high aerobic activity.

better than the nano puff
February 15, 2011

great packable down shirt, warmer than the nano puff. Great base layer or stand alone garment, recommend more of a color selection. However, the price tag does sting a bit.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Cons: Cost
