This is the best fleece jacket I have tried. It is warmer than I expected and I wear this most of the winter. It is very windproof and the jacket fits well and looks great. I can definitely recommend this jacket.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of useGreat Jacket

I have to agree with some of the reviewers and say that one con is that opening the pockets lets the wind through. Other than that I do like the fit. 5'11" and 150 lbs and a small fits great. I do wish it were an inch or two longer though. I also love the color. It's a nice green. It's also surprisingly warm as well. I would definitely say it's a nice jacket.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, PerformanceNice jacket but strange fit

I am 6', 195 lbs, 36" sleeve, 45" chest, and a 16.5" neck. Having never tried on a Patagonia jacket before I used the their size chart and picked a large. Overall the fit is okay but different from my other fleece jackets. The chest is pretty loose on me but the shoulders and arms are tighter than I've ever felt on any size large garment. If you are broad shouldered or have big arms but your chest measurement falls into the large range I would pass on this jacket as the XL would probably be huge in the chest. Great mild weather jacket and actually stops fall breezes. The pockets aren't insulated so if you forget to zip them up you will feel the wind. Jacket is made of a stiff material so it may take some time to break in and that may be affecting the fit.
Pros: Build quality, PerformanceNice, sharp look - does well in the wind

While the jacket at first seemed too lightweight to really provide warmth, the day after I received it was the windiest day we've had this winter so I put it on for a nice long walk and then a trip to the movies. Very comfortable to wear and it does a great job of keeping the wind out. (I would recommend cinching the bottom a bit because the mesh insides of the handwarmer pockets will allow you to feel any breeze that gets in from below.) It was the perfect jacket for a cool (upper 30's to low 40's) breezy evening. My wife likes it on me so much, she wants one for herself (and she tends to laugh at my liking of Patagonia stuff).
Pros: Great design, PerformanceExcellent!

this is like my lightweight R4 but warmer. windproof is a plus. all around a great jacket. the R4 has lasted many years and as Patagonia makes their goods i expect this to do the same. nice fit. soft. light weight. would suggest it to anyone for warmth and comfort.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use, Great valueNice jacket but some pointers

My first Patagonia product and while I'm not blown away I am very pleased with it's technical ability. It stops breezes and is warm with great zippers. The fit is bizarre to me as the chest has enough room but the shoulders and arms are much tighter. It's not uncomfortable but odd compared to my other size large fleece jackets. I have a 44" chest so a size Large was recommended. If you have broad shoulders or large arms this will be tight fit. The jacket is also stiff due to the wind block material (I assume) so hopefully it breaks in as it gets worn. The hand pockets are not insulated so you will feel the breeze if you have your hands stuck in there. The collar is high enough and the material makes it stay up so this is great for keeping out even more cold. The Prussian Blue color was true to the pictures posted. I was worried it would be darker but this is not the case.
Pros: Great design, Build qualityExcellent product

If you are looking for one of the best windproof, fleece jackets on the market, this is it! Its warm, breathable, very well made, and looks great, too! I've worn it hiking and walking in cold weather(25 to 30 degrees), and it performed above my expectations. It shed light precipitation, and was a perfect fit for my frame(5'5", and 165 lbs., size medium). The fleece fabric is better than most I've seen, and attracts little, if any hair or lint. You can really feel the difference in the quality of this jacket. I love it, and recommend it highly for hiking, walking, and casual wear! Patagonia products are a bit pricey, but if you don't mind paying a bit more for a quality product, its well worth the extra expense!
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of useI like it

As for the quality, it's no question! I put on this jacket once, warmth came out and embraced me, it made me feel comfortable as what it look like. I love it.

It's very warm, and thick. It is as warm as patagonia R4, I think. This fleece is also windproof, can be wear as a jacket. I bought a red one, which is suit for a young man.
Warm and Windproof Jacket for Every Day
October 02, 2011
I bought this jacket to replace my 11-year old Mountain Hardwear fleece jacket with Gore Windstopper. The MH is still in great shape but the zipper broke after 10 winter seasons of true hard-wearing. Anyway, I needed an equal match for a replacement and I thought I found it in this Patagonia jacket until I wore it for a day. Here are my personal assessment: Fit. I've always had a problem with Patagonia sizing because they use varying size options: Slim Fit, Regular Fit, and Relaxed Fit. I supposed this gives customers better fit but tend to cause confusion based on all the reviews of Patagonia products. Here's my take on this jacket. I'm 5'6", 150lbs, 31 waist, 38 chest, 15.5 neck, and 33 sleeve length. I ordered small and the jacket fit me like a glove. I wore a thin Smartwool underlayer and probably could have put on another shirt without feeling like a Ralphy's brother in the movie a Christmas Story. If you have a bit of a beer belly, this jacket may feel too tight for you. Construction. As you would expect from Patagonia, the jacket is well put together. As other review suggested, the jacket feels a bit stiff. This is caused by the windproof lamination between the fleece. I have a feeling that the stiffness will probably go away with wear. A nice touch is a fabric tape underneath the zipper to prevent it getting caught. I don't know why they did not do this on their Nanopuff Jacket. Functionality. As far as the warmth and wind blockage is concerned, this is a bomber jacket. It's as good as my beloved MH Windsopper. However, I do have two concerns. First, this jacket lacks pit zips for venting. This won't matter if worn around town but it is a flaw when worn in active setting such as hiking/climbing/skiing. Second, the jacket lacks any means of securing the sleeve around your wrist like Velcro tabs that are so ubiquitous now days.
Pros: Build quality, great looking, warmExactly what I was looking for.

I was looking for something to replace my 12 year old North Face Denali and something a little warmer than my 3 year old North Face Pamir. I bought a Retro vest last year and was pleased with build quality, warmth and wind resitance, so figured I would try the windproof fleece. I have used the jacket for a little over about two weeks and have been very impressed. I am very happy with the wind proof feature of the jacket. Many walks in 30 degree windy weather already and never once felt the wind bite though. The zippers are stout and are of top quality. I like the fact that the jacket taylored a little longer than my Denali which allows for warm bottom. My only complaint would be to have a the hand pockets lined. The linings on the inside of pockets is mesh. This cuts back on the hand warmth while in the pockets. I am now a convert from North Face to Patagonia!
Pros: Great design, Build quality, PerformanceGreat Wind Proof Fleece

I originally bought an XL but that was way too big. I have the R1 and the R2 in XL but since they are "slim fit" they don't fit the same way the "regular fit" does. I ended up getting a Large and that fit me well (6', 200lbs). The jacket is as advertised, wind proof and made of fleece. Not quite as breathable as a regular fleece but thats expected with it being wind proof. The jacket feels solidly made, good zippers, good material. The inside of the sleeves have that course fleece material that make for a slightly difficult time if layering. Overall pleased with the jacket and would recommend.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, PerformanceGreat lightweight, warm jacket

I live in a very windy state, and luckily received my Windproof jacket the day before one of the windiest, and coldest days of the winter so far. I was amazed at how well this jacket quelled the sharp winds. With only a long sleeve t-shirt and the jacket I was very comfortable while being outside. The jacket is very high quality, as its a Patagonia. It does fit small, but most of their gear does, so just keep that in mind if you plan to wear much under it. If youre looking for a jacket to wear out in the elements without much weight, this is a good idea.
Pros: Great design, Build qualityGreat coat, wrong size

I bought this for my husband after reading the reviews. The reviews led me to believe that it ran big so I ordered a large even though he is usually an XL. I will return and get the XL so I would say that it runs true to size. It looks great and also looks very warm. The red is also a very rich red.
Pros: Great design, Build qualitygreat purchase

Jacket really is windproof and perfect for windy chilly days. Will keep you warm in surprisingly low temperatures. Very comfortable feel. Great quality (to be expected from Patagonia).
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of useNovember 17, 2010
i bought this to use when i ride my motorcycle. It works great and is very wind proof and warm. an added feature that is not touted is water resistant in a light rain(experienced while ridding).Just sitting it is ok-it truley shines when working to keep out the wind and keep you warm.
Pros: Build quality, PerformanceOutstanding!
