Ski the path less-traveled wrapped in the natural comfort of this zip-neck top. Our 100% chlorine-free merino wool provides superior next-to-skin softness, in a lightweight, fine-gauge weave that breathes to keep you cool and dry. A cozy neck cuts the chill, while the lightweight chest zipper enables easy climate control. Raglan sleeves and wide underarm panels merge with flat-locked seams for freedom from chafe; the tuckable drop tail adds warmth and protection from the elements. Fit is contoured and sleek. Machine-washable. Made in USA.
excellent product!
This is the perfect layering garment. Versatile, comfortable, and breathable...I couldn't ask for anything more!
Performed very well.
Having backpacked over 17,000 miles and stuff inbetween, I've worn a lot of long underwear. Zip tops are crucial for venting and how can one beat wool? I lived in this shirt for the first 4 days of a March trip in the Smokies (rain, snow, etc.). Ascending 3800' in temps just below freezing w/ intermittent snow wearing only this shirt and staying cozy means this top was worth the price. Dries quickly. Can squeeze it anywhere into the pack. Lightweight. I plan on buying the #3 weight before next winter.
Excellent
The Patagonia wool 2 is light and warm and soft and extremely comfortable. It's an everyday piece, and the 1/4 zip makes is quite stylish worn by itself or layered. Another terrific product by Patagonia.

It is the greatest.
I own both a wool 4 and 2 zip neck and absolutely love them. I am an avid rower and row anytime I can put my rowing skiff in the water. I use the zips as my base layer. They not only keep me warm but wick the sweat and dry quickly.
Bottom-line: Yes they are pricey but definitely worth the money. The only complaint is my wife would wish I washed them more often.
Who knew wool could be so cool?
The lightest silkiest merino wool top I have tried so far and I own tops from Arcteryx, Gramicci, Icebreaker, and even a silk/wool combo from Italy. This is by far the most comfortable. Packs light and small. Just enough insulation for a cool/warm weather baselayer. I wish I'd bought a bunch more.
Comfy in warm, Comfy in cold, Comfy when dry, Comfy when wet
Need I say more.
I really love this base layer. In warm weather, I simply pull up the sleeves, and unzip for ventilation. In cool weather, I throw a windshirt over it. In cold weather, I add an insulated vest. In rain, I toss on my poncho.
No itch, lightweight, dries quickly, wicks amazingly, no clammy feeling, no odor - even after pushing hard day after day. Is there really anything else you'd expect from a base layer?
Get one! You'll probably end up living in it 24/7.
