The durable Wool 3 Crew is your first line of defense against chilled and clammy skin in cool to cold temps. Made with soft 100%-merino-wool jersey and rib knits, this performance baselayer insulates even when wet, naturally resists odor, and stretches to accommodate your every move. A sculpted neck keeps heat in and elements out. Shoulder seams and underarm panels are now offset to eliminate chafing. Flat seams with fine-gauge thread won?t irritate. The slight drop-tail hem and shorter length mean less to tuck in. Eco-washed for softness and to reduce shrinkage without the use of environmentally harmful chlorine. Machine-washable; lay flat to dry.

Natural wool is a warm and pleasant smelling way to go.
My son used his wool 3 crew on his recent expedition to the summit of Denali. He said the shirt proved to be functional, non-itchy (some other brands he found to be bothersome), odor-resistant, and performed better than their synthetic counterparts. He is glad that there are so many sheep in New Zealand to keep the wool coming for Patagonia's wool 3 crew shirts and pants!

Soft, warm and close fitting
This crew is well made and fits very close minimizing bulk. The merino wool is soft and comfortable. However, though this is a great shirt, I would suggest going with patagonia capilene as a first choice over the wool.
