Patagonia Rain Shadow Jacket - Men's
Fortunately for those who live to explore remote corners of the globe, there is the hard-shell protection of our new, lightweight and packable Rain Shadow. Features include pit zips, a roll-down Optipull hood that's helmet-compatible and a raised internal matrix pattern that slides easily over layers and channels moisture away from the skin. Soft, compressible perforated hook-and-loop wrist closures, lightweight, water-resistant zippers and three internal pockets add to the finer points of this jacket. The relaxed fit easily allows underlayers.
- 2.5-layer tear-resistant fabric is packable and lightweight; Raised, polymer matrix pattern on inside slides easily over layers, channels moisture away from skin and protects the waterproof barrier
- Sealed, waterproof seams; Helmet-compatible, roll-down Optipull hood

Brad - 2009-06-10Very light, not clamy, waterproof, runs large.
So far, I love this jacket. It's very light and waterproof, doesn't stick to your skin like the Marmot Precip, size Large is quite large, but that's okay with me, nice long arms, adjustable hood. Very happy with it... so far... these breathable waterproof things (including Goretex) don't seem to stay that way... we'll see. Great price, fast shipping from Altrec.

This jacket has all I need for backpacking trips. Lightweight and takes up very little room in pack yet very durable fabric and has worked well in extreme rain!
Also has all the features needed to keep ventilated during steamy hikes. Get One, or two...3?

This jacket is great for light rain or when it is not that cold. If it is really cold, then you'll either need something warmer or some insulation. The hood is great on this jacket since it is adjustable and you can see better than with other jackets.

Every spring I try and invest in a new 3 – Season clothing system. I did a lot of online reading and research and came to the conclusion that the Patagonia Rain Shadow Jacket was the perfect light weight rain coat for me. (Backpacker magazine gave it a good review) I’ve only used it once since I’ve owned it, but it’s lived up to it’s name, and kept me dry and comfortable on a Big Sur California trek. I would totally recommend this product for anyone looking for an amazing all around light weight rain coat. A+

Perfect for all rainy conditions thanks to ample pit zips and 3-way adj. hood.Velcro adj. cuffs added bonus.Breathes well.Usually wear med.in Patag. but was swimming in this one.Returned for small which,although lost some room for layering,fits very well.Love it.

I took mine on a one month trip to Europe last fall. It got a really good test during a couple of torrential downpours. I find the zipper a bit difficult to use. The fit is excellent, & I really like the drop waist in the back. I would by another.

I have been a loyal Patagonia customer for the past 2 decades, and I was disappointed in this product.
(Not field tested)
I honestly did not use this item, I opened the package and felt the material and was disappointed. It felt cheap and reminded me of the slick jogging suit material. I have an older rain jacket I purchased from Patagonia in 1999 that is still going strong and was hoping this one would be the replacement (needed a new style).
I promptly put it back in the bag for a refund( did not want to test it since I was not happy with the material)and will look for something a bit sturdier from Patagonia.
I am a new customer with Altrec.com and so far I am extremely happy with the service; Superb!

I live in Seattle so I need a good rain jacket. At first the Rain shadow was good, water beaded up on it and it was completely waterproof. However, with time it began to leak, to the point that five months after it was purchased I get soaked any time I am in the rain for more than 15 minutes. I can't recommend this jacket at all.
