The Better Sweater Vest is a parred down yet equally well constructed version of its older sibling the Better Sweater from Patagonia. It has the look and feel of quality, and I typically hear a lot of "that's a nice vest" comments whenever I wear it. I have several of these as well as several of the full sweaters, and the vest seems to run a bit trimmer. I normally wear XS (5'6, 105 pounds) in just about all things in Patagonia, and I do get this in the XS, and it does fit, but it is a little more form fitting and shorter than the full sweaters. This would not push me into buying the next size, but if you are layering something heavier underneath, this may be a consideration. There also seems to be some inconsistency or at least some perpetual variation from season to season with the trimness of both the vest and full sweater, but I attribute that more to the design process rather than variation in the manufacturing in any given season. The sweater falls about one inch below my hip. I have yet to see a color in one of these that looks bad. The two hand pockets are very functional, and I appreciate the zippers to help secure the contents. There also are two inside pockets that serve for additional storage. The vest provides good warmth. I am perpetually cold indoors during the summer, and typically have to wear long sleeves. If I wear one of these vests, I can layer it over a short sleeve top, and I am good to go.

Love this vest! It seems true to size! The color is MUCH brighter than the picture but I was pleasantly surprised!! The material is quite thick so the vest is warm.

In the world of way too many puffy vests, I love this for it's warmth and it's looks. The sweater weave really gives it polish while it's completely rugged and functional. The heathered colors are a refreshing change from the flat texture of down vests. Heavy weight enough to keep a nice shape instead of typical light fleece stretch. You can go down a size if wearing over thin layers. Depends on fit you're looking for. Slightly generous in your regular size.
