Though each Patagonia® product is designed and shaped specifically for its intended use, we can generalize our fit descriptions in four ways:
Formfitting: Conforms to the body's contours.
Slim Fit: Closer-fitting. Slim-fitting technical garments may be worn over baselayers and light midlayers.
Regular Fit: Neither slim nor oversized. Regular-fitting technical garments may be worn over heavier midlayers.
Relaxed Fit: Drapes loosely on the body.
Classic Boy Fit: Boxy, athletic, with a traditional crew neck.
Anika Fit: Formfitting and longer in the torso, with a wider, deeper neck (not quite scoop).close

Awesome for hiking
September 14, 2008
I loved this shirt while hiking the Inca Trail. Lightweight and really comfortable - protected me from the sun, brush, and cool weather mornings. I'm normally an XS, but if you want this shirt to hang a little loose and to layer over tanks and tees, then I would go one size up.

I purchased this item a year ago for my daughter-in-law. She loved it so much that she put it on her Christmas Wish List this year. The light weight #1 is perfect for those who are cold-natured.
warm, fits well

It's light, it fits well, it's warm. What more can I want.

This is one of the most comfortable shirts I wear. The reason I say shirt is I wear it as a t-shirt. Its doesn't fade like other t-shirts I have worn. It said baselayer but looks good enough to wear alone. Dries quickly when wet, color doesn't fade and when traveling doesn't take up much space. I am addicted to these shirts and they look alot better then a regular t-shirt.Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use, Cons: Cost
Great physical sun block
September 23, 2008
I needed a long-sleeved shirt that I could wear for sailing in the summer, and that will provide a sunblock. The capilene felt good on my skin - no stink. Now that the temperature is cooler, all I need to do is use it as a layering base.
I love the Patagonia Capilene 1 top!
February 25, 2010
This Patagonia top is wonderful. I always take it with me when I travel. It weighs nothing and I can wear it alone or layered. I would not leave home without it! I wear it at home, too.
Very soft and comfortable
July 20, 2008
I love capilene! This shirt keeps you dry in hot weather and it does run a little big, but I highly recommend it. Also, it is one of Patagonia's common threads recycling program. A great value and eco friendly, I can't ask for more!

This top is great as an insulating baselayer. Sometimes when worn alone, it does have a clammy feeling. I would have to say though if used alone as a sun shirt (80 degree sunny weather), the Under Amour Heat Gear does a better job as is allows better ventilation when hot. Both do stay dry. Fit is comfortable, though I think the Under Amour may have more room through the sleeves. I am between a small and medium in Patagonia, and I ordered this in a small for a closer fit to be worn more as a base layer.Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use, Great value
Great wicking material
January 15, 2010
Light wight fabric that wicks sweat away nicely with a work out. Easy to layer under a middle warmth layer for hiking.
January 25, 2007
I like the shirt but it runs a little big
March 05, 2007
This shirt kept me very dry while skiing all day. It is very soft and comfortable, but runs a bit big.
soft and light
December 31, 2009
I prefer the Cap 1 shirts to the Cap 2. This shirt is really light feels great in warmer weather or layered under a fleece in cooler temps. I am 5'6" and 140 lbs and ordered a medium. It is a little roomy and next time I'd go with a small for a closer fit and easier layering.
we will see?

I love it. It is lighweight and very comfortable. Good for hiking as well as traveling.
November 21, 2010
Good fit, quality and value. Very stylish as well, so you can go from working out to apres ski. Suitable for three season wear. Good assortment of colors, too.Pros: Performance, Great value
Worth the purchase
August 14, 2009
Everything Patagonia makes is wonderful. Good quality and stylish. I got the "lipstick" which is not my normal look. It looks great. I was pleasantly surprised.
Great shirt for everything!
March 22, 2012
I love this top! It is very lightweight, and has a wonderful silky feel. Drapes beautifully. It is perfect for every kind of outdoor activity, wicks well, dries very quickly, even has sun protection.Works well either as a base layer, or just as a shirt. And it looks really nice too, much nicer than your average performance shirt. Wears well. I have several and love them.Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance
comfortabe blouses with lovely colors
August 13, 2012
These are extremely comfortable and soft to the touch. I've have always been very fussy about the feeling of fabric against my skin and these don't disappoint. The style is feminine and the colors are beautiful. I bought 1 in lemon, green, and flash pink, lovely colors. These are great for layer as well as by themselves, got to show off those vibrant colors, right? I got mine on sale and that made them more attractive as a buy. I'm 5'3'', 110 lbs and the Small fits perfectly.Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of use
Very nice baselayer!
February 25, 2007
This shirt is so soft, and a great baselayer. Very warm and perfect for layering!

very warm and lightweight
My first impression after placing my order.

Loved your website. Everything was very easy. Very impressed with your free return policy. Seems as if you will be a great company to do business with!!
Nice shirt for running too
September 23, 2007
Really comfortable and great for running. The shirt does run a little on the big side, but the sleeve length is great.
April 05, 2010
Great shirt! The capilene 1 is a lightweight wicking shirt that works very well as a base layer under fleece, as well as on its own in warmer weather. It wicks away sweat and water thoroughly and quickly(my camelback decided to explode at the trailhead this morning and the capilene shirt kept me from being a soggy/unhappy camper). The shirt is comfortable without being too baggy. I would suggest purchasing a darker color, as the white one seems to have stains in the lower back/armpit areas after only 2 wears. Otherwise, this is a great purchase and I will be buying more capilene products!
Wonderful for biking in Africa.
July 21, 2009
I bought this as a gift. Good color. Very light weight. Will work well in the warm and cool weather of Africa.
The Best Capilene
January 11, 2011
I have owned the silk weight cap from Patagonia for over 5 years and its still in perfect condition. I ordered a white and black for extra layers in our cold snowy New England. The fit is true to size and it layers perfectly under any piece of clothing.Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance
great product for outdoor sports
February 24, 2007
I purchased this for my 12 year old daughter who needed a warm, breathable, long sleeve shirt to wear under her soccer jersey on cold game days. She is very pleased with this shirt.
worth the money
November 14, 2006
light weight and very comfortable
Great for trail running
February 13, 2012
The fit is great, but runs slightly small for Patagonia, especially the sleeves. It is a comfortable piece to run in alone or layer, depending on the temperature. The scoop neck is flattering.
perfect all-around layer
May 18, 2010
love the soft, lightweight feel of this baselayer. keeps you cool or warm - whatever you need. looks great in town, too! i'm 5'6 145 lb and ordered a M (what I usually wear) and it works alone, but if I order again, I'll order a S for a closer fitting baselayer.
miracle fabric, nice cut
November 16, 2008
The capilene 1 material is wonderful: absorbent and cool or warm, depending on the temperature. It dries quickly and always keeps me comfortable. When washing, I use clorox and it works great!
great base layer top
