Great Windproof Jacket
I bought this jacket after losing my basic black North Face jacket that I wore everywhere. Unfortunately, everyone and their brother is wearing North Face gear now and I was looking for a versatile jacket to replace it that would be worth the money. I was so pleased when this arrived. It is fitted, which is what I was looking for so I don't feel so bulked out. I also like that the sleeves are a little longer. I have pets and it doesn't seem to trap the hair and fuzz quite as much as other black fleeces I've owned. Still need to keep up with the lint roller, though, but I expected that. Seems really warm, even on a bluster winter day in Colorado. I love Patagonia products, and I feel like this will last forever. The price isn't great, but not too bad for the quality of this jacket.

Patagonia Rocks-Great Fleece
Best Fleece ever...why buy ANY other brand- we only wear Patagonia and this jacket delivered.
Great for layering or alone.
VERY warm and Windproof. Only complaint is that sleeves run short, but like the slim fit therwise

Best fleece ever!
I was looking to replace my North Face fleece, mainly because it was getting a little worn out but also because I wanted something a little different (I got my North Face years ago before the whole craze and would rather not wear something that everyone else wears!). So glad I found this jacket! Super comfortable and warm and looks great, too! Fits me perfectly, although like a lot of Patagonia's apparel, it does run on the small side. Buy it, you won't regret it!

totally worth it!
I have had many fleeces but purchased this one because my daughter has it. I love it, just spent time in upstate New York and Vermont, where it was supposedly spring but completely windy. I didn't feel a thing, so sorry it took me this long to purchase it!

Let the wind blow!
Unbelievable a jacket that lives up to its description! Warm, light -weight and really windproof! I live in New England and we have had a very snowy winter thus far.Yup,I shoveled my drive way wearing my classic retro-x and was warm as toast. Even when the gusts of wind came by I was nice and warm. Thinking of buying the new version with the hood.My only con is their is no chest pocket. A good thing to know is that I'am 5ft tall and 115lbs and needed to purchase a medium as it has a slim fit. The arms are long for me,so I just push them up a bit,a small price to pay for a functional jacket.Thanks Patagonia!

This is the first jacket I bought on Altrec.com and I still own it and use it! This jacket keeps me warm shields the wind out and is easy to wear!

It's a really nice jacket. Was pleasantly surprised at how warm it actually is, doesn't look like it would be, but it is. Fits well, and there's plenty of room to layer clothes if you need them. Only negative so far is that the black color seems to attract a lot of white stuff, but it's easy to get off and I wouldn't send it back for that.

LOVE THIS JACKET!
This is the second time I have purchased this jacket, the color was slightly different but this go around the jacket seemed even more dreamy- I purchased the Rice Paper and just adore it- the fit, the color, the style. The only thing I wish is that the inside was as soft as the outside. I love this jacket though.

Must buy another one!!
I bought the small natural color. I love my retro-x! Once the north sea color comes out again, I will be purchasing a second jacket for me and one for my friend. This jacket is completely windproof! I am 5'2" and 120lbs and I have the small. I bought it when I was 112 lbs and the size small is perfect. Except that it creates a little wrinkle right above the bust line bc it could be slightly roomier in the chest/shoulder area. I live in Washington DC, it's been a blustery December (25-40 degrees and very windy!) and I layer it with an xs Patagonia Retool full zip (in black) and it keeps the warmth in and the wind out!

soft and oh so comfy
I love, love this jacket. It is so soft and comfortable, and the color selection is great. It is great for cooler fall days and for inside in winter when it's really cold. My go to jacket.

Great coat- exactly what I expected
This coat is very warm, much warmer that I expected. I was hpoing for something to get me through the fall, but this will last into the winter months for warmth. I get MANY compliments on it, as it fits well. Not too snug, but it is form fitting. Two thumbs up!!

a great classic jacket
Only con is that this jacket runs small in the body fit. I am essentially always a medium and this was a little too fitted to wear over sweaters, etc. I ordered a large and I love it!
Many pros including long arms, excellent warmth and wind protection and overall style and quality are superb. Love this jacket and would recommend to anyone who wants to spend time outside in the winter.

Runs Small
I ordered this jacket in a Medium. I am 5'9 and about 140 lbs, the medium fit okay but was a bit too snug/not roomy enough for my liking for a jacket. I returned it and will be ordering a Large in either this jacket or another patagonia jacket.
-one great feature is that the SLEEVES are long! :) fit perfect
-these jackets run a lot smaller than a north face, I wear a small in a north face but as I said...Medium in this wasn't roomy enough.
-Great jacket though, wind proof unlike a north face. would recommend - just keep the runs small aspect in mind :)

Warm and stylist!
This jacket is warm and cozy for my drive into work in the morning (temp 30 degF - 40 degF). Very stylist and flattering. I am 5'5" 120lbs and the small fits me well with enough room for a thick sweater underneath. I have it in black and it looks nice with jeans and trousers. This coat is a windproof jacket and NOT a fleece sweatshirt. If you are looking for a fleece with sweatshirt material look for the Patagonia Retool jacket from Altrec.

it might be retro, but it's very "in"
i literally wear this jacket almost everyday. i am a lover of jackets, especially patagonia, but this one beats them all and i choose it everyday over all the others. i bought this jacket almost 2 years ago and while i've wanted more (different colors and who doesn't want a new patagonia jacket), i just cannot bring myself to purchase another when this one has been so faithful and has held up so well. i lived in alaska for the past three years and just moved back to northern minnesota and it's a true friend in both places. i find it to be extremely comfortable. i am a huge pocket used and i appreciate the way that the pockets zip in order to protect my keys and wallet (i'm not a purse user). my sister didn't have a winter jacket last year when i was staying with her in minnesota, so she borrowed it the entire time and i may have convinced her to get her own for this winter. it's a perfect jacket for those rather chilly summer nights, the perfect early fall morning/evening jacket, everyday all day fall jacket and i would even go as far to say that this could be a winter jacket indeed (unless playing in the snow, you may want something waterproof. i typically wear xs in patagonia. i tried this on with another bulky patagonia snap t fleece underneath it and decided that since i am always cold and an avid "layer-er" i would go with the small. i go back and forth still wanting the xs at times, but for the most part it's perfecto. i have the north sea color from a couple years ago and i really wish they would make that color again cause then i really might buy it again. ok, you should buy it.

I own 2 & my husband owns 3
Patagonia introduced this jacket years ago. It was great then, but even better now. The cut is more streamline and it now has a windproof (mostly) barrier. The jacket is extremely warm for very little weight. I own 2 and my husband owns 3. They are durable, wash well & last for years. I highly recommend them for a all-around jacket.

I was very excited about this jacket but when I tried it on after I received it in the mail I was very disappointed. I ordered the Natural color in a medium and I looked like a sheep. The arms were very bulky but the body of the jacket was almost too snug. Maybe it would be better in a different color but unless you have tried one on already in a store I would be wary of ordering this jacket online.

Amazing Style Plus Warmth
This is a terrific jacket. I purchased it for my 25 yr. old daughter and she loves it. Looks great with jeans and boots. She pairs it with different color scarves and cute gloves and it's perfect. The comfy fleece and windproof barrier material create its style. Povides excellent warmth, yet surprisingly light weight and not bulky. Washes well and then hang dry. Wear this jacket all the time. You'll love it!

Great Jacket
This jacket looked absolutely terrific with the plush fleece and the side panels very stylish but should have remembered that Patagonia jackets run very small so must return for a larger size. I wear a small but must have the medium in this jacket.

A great lightweight but warm jacket. Better than Nface in my opinion and just as fashionable. We wear this spring, fall and winter. Works great thru rain and snow too.

I liked it so much I ordered a second one. Think of this more as a wind breaker with some sherpa on the outside. It's very light and very warm and perfect for windy but not too cold days (35F is still fine). It does a great job of sealing out the air.

Feels and looks great!
I ordered this for my daughter's birthday and she loves it! Color is great...just as pictured. It has a more feminine feel and is less boxy than other fleeces. We did order a large, and she would normally take a medium. Very happy and we will shop here again for Christmas!!!

I love it!!!
I ordered the Natural/Mushroom brown in a small and it fits perfectly!! I am 5 ft. 5 1/2inches, have long arms, small bust (34A) and weigh 115 pounds. The small also allowed me to layer my Retro-X vest under it comfortably. I tried a medium on in a store and it was too big, extra small too small. The Small has arms that are long enough. I am assuming from my Retro X vest that this jacket is super super warm, which I need for Northern Michigan winters. I haven't had an opportunity to test drive it yet, but this is my dream jacket and I was thrilled to see it on sale!!! The Retro-X vest fabric (also the same fabric as the jacket) is the warmest ever and blocks the wind on those bitter cold days. The jacket is not as stiff as I expected and actually quite flexible. I love the brightness of the lighter color and the softness of the fabric, combined with a sturdy, fitted feeling. As mentioned in another review, the back seemed a little puckery, and I will have to see if I need to keep pulling it down, the only drawback in question for me.

Great Jacket!
I love my new Patagonia Retro X Jacket in the natural color. I am 5'2 and 105 lbs. I got it in a size S. The arms are a little bit too roomy but other than that the fit is good. The reason I rated it 4 stars instead of 5 is that when I opened up my package I found a lot of fuzzy stuff on the jacket, what looked like black or brown hairs to me. It took a while to pick it all out. This might be due to the recycled and synthetic material Patagonia outerwear is made of. I am not sure though. Also, near the seams the material is way thinner than other parts. Overall, the jacket does its job shielding me from wind, and I love the style and sale price! The quick and free shipping is also a plus. I will definitely be considering more Patagonia products from Altrec.com in the future!

Awesome Jacket
I bought this as a gift for my fiancee, because she wanted a warm wind proof fleece that doesn't collect dog hair. It delivers on all fronts. It is extremely warm and windproof, and you cannot see any of our Australian Shepherd's hair on the fleece (Natural/Mushroom Brown color). A note on size, my fiance is 5'4" 125 with an athletic build. I bought her the small, and it fits perfect. As most of the reviews state it is snug, but there is plenty of room for a base layer (e.g., mid-weight capiliene). If you plan on anything bulkier you might want to size up.

Love it in off white!
I had been coveting this jacket in off-white color for 2 years. And when I saw it on Altrec.com on sale, I was ecstatic. I bought the jacket in Small and Medium,; kept the Medium even though they both fit nicely (but differently). The medium allows me to wear more layers underneath. The only problem I have is that the botton of the jacket does ride up a bit. But not too big a concern.

Good construction, odd color
I am 5'6", 130lbs. and I bought the medium. It fit well, even roomy enough for a sweater underneath. I have fairly long arms, and the sleeves were plenty long on the jacket. I am small chested, and narrow in the trunk. I returned the jacket because the mushroom/brown color was so unflattering. It looks a lot like sheep skin.

Very pleased
I bought the vest first, and was extremely happy with it. I'm 5'2", and 120 lbs, so I bought the small. Perfect fit, very snug (good thing I'm flat chested). I bought the jacket next, in a medium. The combo is just right, and I'm very pleased with the fit. Light weight, yet very warm, this was a good purchase.

Retro X Jacket
Awesome jacket. I wear mine almost everyday. Yes, it has a stiffer material on the inside, but I wear mine as both a jacket and a sweatshirt and it is super cozy! Love the slim fit and color selection. Will be buying a second one shortly. Great quality that will last for years to come.

A must have jacket for outdoors women
I purchased this jacket for my wife who spends a good deal of time in the outdoors. Besides fitting perfectly this jacket is perfect for those cool breezy spring or fall days and is perfect for layering in colder temps. stiff and crunchy
I got this jacket b/c it was on sale and I plan on using it next winter. The big thing I notice about this jacket is the inside feels stiff. It's not a soft and cozy fleece, so if that's what you like, dont buy this. The lining is made with some harder type polyester to probably block out the wind. It will probably take a little getting used to before I can really enjoy wearing it.

Poor fit
Very pretty and soft, but irregular. The left arm fits great, but the right arm is so high under the armpit that I can't stand it. Took it off and inspected it - appears that the right sleeve is actually about 1" smaller and higher sewn than the left! Will be exchanging - hopefully can get a small that is cut right. The medium is very comfortable, but hubby says it looks too big.

I always like Patagonia stuff for performance, so didn't hesitate with this. For me personally, this was a little too stiff, but if you want to have a dual purpose single garment, it truly is perfect for wind in early spring and late fall. Also for cross country.

Classic, Warm, Flattering Fit
Another positive review for the Patagonia Retro Jacket! The fit is flattering - not boxy at all. The jacket can feel a little stiff, but I got this to help block wind, so I knew this would not be a super soft fleece from the start. I get cold easily, but this jacket keeps me warm enough with just a lightweight shirt on underneath when temperatures hover around the 50's. I'm 5'5 and 105 pounds and went for the Extra Small. It is a trimmer fit, but I could put two thin layers on underneath the jacket. Sizing all depends on how you like your fit and how you will wear it. Size up if your planning on wearing anything bulky under it. I liked it so much, I have it in three different colors.

Warm and cozy
This is the perfect fleece...so perfect, I've ordered a couple for some color variety :) It's cozy and warm, perfect even during the start and end of winter and awesome under a shell for colder temps. I would recommend this to anyone reading this.

great jacket
Great jacket. Windproof, light, warm and nicely fitted. I had one 20 yrs ago, and this version is an improvement. Glad I bought two! I agree that it's a slim cut, so do size up. I'm 5' 8", 120 lbs and the medium fit perfectly. This is a keeper.

Weird fit
Wonderful,soft plush material but very unflattering fit; North Face fits closer to the body and for the money, is a much nicer jacket. The Expresso color was just awful. This was one of the very, very few items I've ever had to return to Altrec; love the website.

great jacket
Gets the job done - windproof and warm, without being bulky. The texture of the fleece is woolly, and it is NOT attracting dog fur - amazing!! I do wish it had a "napoleon" pocket, though. I'm 5'2'' 112 lbs, and in between XS and Small. I bought the small to accommodate several layers when it is wicked cold, and it is quite roomy, but not overly bulky.

Simply the best fleece.
I loved this jacket so much I recently purchased another! Just for color options :) It blocks the wind, is super warm, and the nylon panels make it feel much less bulky than other fleece jackets I have. Typical high-quality piece from Patagonia. (Note for dog owners: All colors look great covered in dog hair!)

Love it!
I love my new jacket. It keeps me warm both in the woods and in the city. It is a nice light weight fleece with a slim fit and a high collar. I previously owned a North Face Denali jacket that was too boxy and got stretched out after a year or so. I only wish that this Patagonia jacket had arm-pit vents, but over all it is a great little fleece.

Great quality and warm.
This is my second Retro X jacket. I have the purple one, also. The construction is good. After several washings the original fit holds. The jacket is warm. It is good for layering with my shell. I also wear it along out and about a lot. The sleeves are a little long; I am 5 ft 4 in.

Keeps the chill -- OUT!!!
I was pleasantly surprised at how warm I was when walking my dog on the windy beach every day. Usually I need 3-4 layers...but not any more. In addition, it is totally awesome looking!

LOVE THIS FLEECE!!!
This jacket is warm and extremely comfortable. I am a size 10 and bought the XL because I am a "layer person" and do not like a snug fit. First I bought the jacket in black and loved it so much I bought the Natural/Mushroom Brown. Depending on any "too good to pass up sales" that Altrec offers, I have not given up on the idea of purchasing another in one of the other colors for spring wear. I read another review indicating this jacket was preferred over the NorthFace Denali - I wholeheartedly agree. Thank you Altrec for offering this great item at a competitive price!

Keeps me warm and fits great too!
This is the best fleece jacket I've ever owned. Living in Norway, I always need an extra layer to keep the wind out and the warmth in- this jacket delivers. Fits well- I am a US 2/4 and own both a M and Sm in this jacket- Med is better for layering, but the Small gets plenty of use too, and I like the way it contours the waistline. Very flattering. Meget fint! (that's norwegian for VERY NICE!)

Cute and Funtional
I am a size 4, and usually wear a small in Patagonia tops. I originally ordered the small, which provided a nice snug fit. However, I found that the sleeves and the torso on the small were a little short. (I'm not a tall person - 5'4"). I exchanged for a medium and I'm much happier with it. While it's not as form-fitting, it is a little longer and doesn't ride up if I'm riding a bike, climbing, etc. The lupine color is gorgeous, and the cut is flattering. This jacket has a really nice windproof layer on the inside, and soft cookie monster fuzz on the outside. I love it. It's definitely worth the price, as every Patagonia piece I own is VERY high-quality and made to last a lifetime. I would highly recommend this jacket for when you need something warmer than your traditional fleece.

toasty toasty!
Bought the woman's in Lupine and am very pleased. I also own two Arc'Teryx Coverts and this is much warmer, and provides better wind protection. It is less form fitting (more bulky I guess than the Coverts) but really quite attractive. I put it on when I am really cold. True to size. I wore it every day the first two weeks, I was so happy with it! Thanks!

Patagonia Retro-X jacket
First of all, I was first interested in a North Face jacket BUT I really don't like to wear clothes I see everyone else wearing, especially when the wearers are teens! So, I saw a review on Patagonia Retro-X, then looked for more. Almost all were positive. Based on these reviews (and the great price I found on Altrec) I ordered a XS jacket. I'm sooo pleased. I'm 4'11" and a size 2-4. The XS small fits fine - I was worried because I do have hips! To give you a heads up - the material of a retro-x is sheep like (I find I like this look now because I needn't worry about clinging pet hair like my daughters do with their North Face Denali jackets.) The retro-X is more form fitting than a North Face Denali jacket. Also, it's wind resistant! I was in a northeastern this past weekend and wore my jacket under a peacoat that I left opened - no chill wind! One thing I'd like to see - a bigger variety of colors.

Great structure
I have a North Face Denali jacket and this jacket is much better. This jacket has a mesh liner inside and its structured better, feels more like a jacket than a fleece. The fleece is sheep-like. I ordered a medium and I'm around a women's 4/6 and it fits perfectly. I am going to have this jacket for a long time.

All that I hoped for
I've wanted a patogonia synchilla jacket since my college days in Boston. Back then I couldn't justify over $150 for a fleece jacket. But I'm glad my husband can! Just got it for Xmas and I LOVE IT! Immediately you can tell the difference in the quality, durability, and style. Size-wise, I say it fits true to size for clothing (typically jackets run larger, so in that case it does run smaller) I typically wear size S and M, but wanted a fitted look with this jacket so a size S is perfect. I don't intend to layer alot. It's an awesome jacket that's worth the money!

My daughter had wanted a Patagonia jacket for a while and so for Christmas I purchased the retro X jacket in a wine color. It was great! Everyone loves it and it is not the boxy fit that most of the other brand jackets are. Truly a great investment!

Very flattering fit
I bought a medium and it fits me properly - I normally wear size 4 tops, so definitely order a size up. Fleece is too snug to really wear a bulky sweater underneath - fits better with thinner top layers. But it's such a flattering, slim fit - a welcome change in the land of fleece jackets!
