Women's Down Sweater 4.9 5 108 108
The Perfect Winter Coat This is the perfect jacket for me. I have been on the market for a down jacket for the past 3 years and, in that time, have bought 4 of them on line and returned each one, with none of them meeting my expectations or, therefore, being quite worth the investment to me. All along, I suspected that The Patagonia Down Jacket was the one for me but was unwilling to pay the full price for it but finally, I just made the investment-- and that’s what it is— and a very wise investment indeed. This is a jacket that will last me my whole life, and I have no qualms or reservations about the fact that it is PERFECT. I received the jacket over a month ago and have hardly been able to bring myself to take it off when I go to bed at night. It leaks the occasional feather, but I've yet to meet a down jacket that does not. I am 5’2” and wear an XS. It’s fit is slim and quite flattering, and yet it offers a truly surprising amount of layering space (I am continually amazed at the layers that I can fit under such a slim looking jacket and somehow keep it looking slim). Of course, the most incredible aspect of this jacket is its warmth to weight ratio, which means that I rarely need any layers at all. I am not sure what law of physics they broke in designing this jacket, but I do know that I, who have always been cold when others are not, am loving winter for the first time in my life. I no longer even hesitate before going outside on a February night to get firewood—I no longer have the fear of being cold—and all thanks to this jacket which can fit easily inside my bag. February 5, 2011
not flattering I purchased this sweater, as well as the Patagonia hi loft down sweater, and I sent this one back. The fit is quite boxy and loose. It's not flattering at all. On the other hand, the hi loft sweater is awesome! It fits close to the body and is super cute on. Buy the hi loft version! January 30, 2012
Light, soft, & warm So comfortable. Fantastic for travel-folds down very small. Very light and regulates temperature well. Sleeves are long (similar to other Patagonia jackets), they fold under easily. January 22, 2012
Love This Jacket/Sweater and Patagonia Generally FIT: I am very petite (5'4 and wears p2) and the XS fits very good on the body (enough room for a tight fitting hoodie underneath but also looks good, not too big, with just a tee underneath). I have been wearing Patagonia for over 15 years and have only encountered once, or twice, when its XS was overall way too big. It is not the case with this sweater/jacket. However, even when the fit on the body is good, the length of the sleeves is always a bit long. Nevertheless, for a jacket, this is fine because I can use the extra fabric to cover my entire hand during times when I don't have a pair of gloves handy and need the extra coverage. Despite this, the look, with the cuffs at the wrist, is not compromised. WARMTH: With down insulation, I don't usually get too hot, but am warm enough to be comfortable. As a note, heat retention for any down jackets/vests are lost when the down gets wet (see below). WATER PROTECTION: I have not worn this jacket in the rain yet, but can comment on my experience with other Patagonia down products. With my other Patagonia down jackets, water protection is good as long as I don't wear it in heavy down pours for more than 15 minutes (light rain is ok). Once water gets through the fabric into the down, the down looses its ability to retain heat. CONSTRUCTION: I have not had this jacket long enough to comment but, again, can comment on my other experiences. I have a Patagonia down vest that is exactly the same as, or very similar to, this sweater/jacket, and throughout numerous and various wearings and washes, the threats are still very securely intact and it still looks the same as it did the first time I saw it (the fact that it is black may also be a reason why it still looks good and new). OTHER COMMENTS: Altrec ships fast! I got this product within 3 days! Thanks, Altrec! I will definitely do business with you again! January 12, 2012
Very Satisfied This is a perfect light weight down jacket that provides excellent warmth without being bulky. It layers well underneath a shell or can be worn as a solo outer layer. I'm 5'6" and weigh 135lb, and the small was a perfect fit. I never want to take it off! January 11, 2012
Light, stylish and warm I noticed this jacket was selling out in stores and on websites, and I now see why. This jacket is so light to carry around, it is warm, and it is SO cute! It is so cute that as I was crossing the street the other day, a guy stopped his car in the middle of the crosswalk to yell after me, "Nice jacket!" As I passed through a cashier in a cafe she said to me, "That is a gorgeous jacket. Gorgeous!" Patagonia designed this really well because it is very warm (800 fill) and not so puffy that it makes you look funny. In fact, I'm lucky I am able to get away with a size small. At 5' 1'' I have a small frame, yet I am large in the bust (C to D cup). This jacket fits well and allows me to layer. And it is SO light. Originally I purchased the Merrill Isadore parka in black size small. This also fits me well, and it too is very warm at only 650 fill. However, it is so heavy! I found this out when traveling. I was too hot to wear it on the airplane, and it was too bulky to stuff in my bag. I missed my chance to put it in the overhead and so I had this big thing on my lap the whole 6 hour flight! This would have never happened with the Patagonia down sweater, because it is so light and compress, and comes with its own built in stuff sack that is perfect for travel. I can also easily tie this jacket around my waist when hiking and warmed up. I love this jacket! It's also cute and stylish enough to wear in the office or casually on the weekends. I haven't washed it yet, but am trusting it will wash and dry easily. I also notice the fabric does not catch on things. Whereas some jackets (such as the Merrill Isadore) could get an easy snag, this one seems to repel objects that might catch such as rough fingernails and such. Thank goodness, because no one wants a ding in an expensive down jacket. January 4, 2012
Wife loved it! I bought this as a Christmas present for my wife and she loves it. It is a good jacket for wearing around town and layering at the ski hill. I'd be a little careful around nipping pups as I don't think the material would hold up to little teeth. January 3, 2012
Cozy comfort This down jacket is surprisingly lightweight for the warmth and comfort it provides. I love how stylish it looks and that I don't look or feel all puffed up like the Michelin Man when wearing it. It is perfect for night-time winter walks in the desert, or winter hiking in the surrounding mountains where I live. I'll take it next autumn to Yellowstone, too. December 30, 2011
Great jacket Purchased this jacket for my daughter, she loves it -warm without the bulk. It's comfortable and fits true to the size but there is enough room to fit a sweater under it also. December 26, 2011
Great jacket/sweater Don't know why it's called a sweater - mine is purple and red zippers. Everyone is commenting how great it looks on me and where I bought it -- I told them. Thanks. December 8, 2011
looks/feels awesome love the look and feel of this jacket. ordered a size L and it's just a bit big in the chest but know that a size M would have been too small/tight. The length of the coat is great too as I like to have the small of my back covered - I'm 5'6". While it is an expensive item, it will last a lifetime I'm sure. Am excited for the colder weather so I can sport my new look. December 5, 2011
Warm and lightweight I can't believe how warm this is for its weight! The sleeves are long (yay!) and collar is high, providing great coverage. I am 5' 6," 125 lbs. and bought a Small. December 5, 2011
Fabulous I absolutely love this jacket, it is warm, comfortable and attractive. I have bought each of my daughters one and they also love it. It is light weight and keeps you warm and looks great. I would love to have one in every color! December 2, 2011
extremely warm and comfy I love how lightweight this jacket is, yet it is extremely warm. I live in the mountains of Colorado and wear this jacket in all temperatures. It is comfortably worn and then packed away in a small backpack on a day hike when necessary. Also, it is so cute that I just love to wear it around town. December 1, 2011
The Perfect Gift! I bought this as a gift and she loves it! It’s soft and incredibly warm for the minimal weight. The fit is true to size and it looks great. This one is purple and she gets compliments almost every time she wears it. It’s great to wear inside at home or around the office on chilly days. And it’s a stand-alone jacket outside into the 30’s. When it’s really cold or wet then it makes a nice layering piece under a more weatherproof jacket. Down isn’t warm when it’s wet, and this jacket isn’t designed to be worn in extended wet conditions. It’s high quality, well designed, and makes the perfect gift! What girl wouldn’t like to have one of these? December 1, 2011
Love it ! Lightweight, takes up very little space when packed, yet very warm and comfortable. Love the color selection. Roomy enough to fit a light jacket or sweater underneath. Even looks nice. Buy one for hiking, snowshoeing, travel, or around town. November 12, 2011
Great jacket I love the jacket. I got the wrong size. I am going to exchange it because it is the perfect jacket to wear around the house when it is cold and it keeps me from turning up the heat. November 3, 2011
Great jacket! I got a great price on this jacket at Altrec and I love the jacket. It is warm and also does well in rainy conditions. I wore it in Denver's first snow storm of the year (October 25th, 2011) and paired it up with a goretex shell and was dry and warm through a whole day of walks and commutes in the snow. I like the prickly pear color a lot. October 27, 2011
best beach jacket i keep these jackets (in its own pouch) in my car all the time. Best beach jacket.. blocks winds, water.. warm.. I am getting one more~~for my husband and I in different colors October 24, 2011
Great versatile piece I purchased this jacket at the recommendation of a friend after moving to Southwestern Colorado; this is a great piece that can be used for many activities and functions and I highly recommend it. I am 5'6, 135lbs with a narrow chest and waist. I initially ordered a medium with the intent to have room for layering, but returned the item for a small which proved to be a much better fit. The waist is contoured for a feminine fit, but I find the shoulders & arms to be a bit roomier than I'd prefer. Please also be aware that the jacket hits right at the top of most pants, so don't expect this to always catch those exposed slivers of midriff! The fit affords plenty of flexibility, so it's a great piece for hiking and other activity where range of motion is key. This jacket is lightweight, compactable, and quite warm. Even slipping it on over just a bathing suit after stepping out of a hot tub, it immediately warms up and gets the job done. You need this jacket! October 16, 2011
Quality Product I am about 5'6 125 pounds, and the medium fits perfectly. The fit is very flattering. The jacket is very light in weight, however is extremely warm once you put it on. I ordered the prickly pear and absolutely love the color! I could not be more satisfied with this jacket, and I am excited to wear it throughout the winter. There is nothing so far that I have found to dislike about this jacket. It is well worth the money and you get more than what you pay for. October 12, 2011
Great jacket for cool weather This jacket is great, it keeps you warm into the mid 30s, it is very comfortable, fairly wind proof and it provides some protection against rain. The fit is true to its size. I highly recommend this jacket for cool fall and spring days. This jacket would also work for mild winter weather. Overall a great jacket, I have purchased another for a friend since my original purchase. October 1, 2011
Great bargin for such a nice jacket~ I have got this jacket with promp delivery, thanks to Altrec.com and luckly I can get the size to fit me well. i am 5.6" tall, 120 lbs and a small size fits me well that even you can put somthing inside the zip pocket and feel free. it is super light weight that I feel like I was buying some cottons when the package was received!!!The Amaranth color is so nice that it is out of my expect apart from just viewing it from the website. It is more likely a purple-pink color, a good match with the light blue zips. i just love it so much and highly commend for frequent traveller who wants a light and decent warm down jacket. September 29, 2011
Love it! I am 5'9'' and weigh 138lbs. The color is fantastic (prickly pear) I am used to dark colors and was very happy with my choice. The back of this jacket is longer, it is great for sitting and being active. The sides are a little on the short side, but nothing that I can't get past. I ordered a large, it fits a little bigger with just a t-shirt....it should be perfect with a fitted sweatshirt for those cold Pittsburgh days. September 26, 2011
Patagonia down sweater Love this down "jacket". I just stuff it in my daypack or backpack and go. I have been backpacking lots in the San Juan Mountains of colorado and don't need to carry as many layers as I used to because this jacket is great, light, and warm. Love the bright colors too. I wear a rain jacket over this "sweater" when the wind comes in or if it rains. Don't want to get it wet as I think that would be a mistake with down. September 22, 2011
I've been pining after this jacket or 'sweater' for months now. It's almost perfect. The color is great, the sleeves are very long, and it is WARM. I am tall and it would be better if it were a bit longer. Still, I'm glad I went with a small. It shipped really quickly via FedEx just in time for the first frost! September 20, 2011
runs a bit short LOVE this jacket & cant wait until it gets cold. Nothing wears like Patagonia & their colors are terrific this season, (especially the pink :) I bought this in a small because I usually wear a small in Patagonia...however, I found it quite short! (I am 5'7", 125lbs, if that helps). No matter how warm the jacket is, no one wants a cold belly, right? So I returned for a med which seems a bit roomy in shoulders/chest, but the length is much better. (BTW, when I called Patagonia to ask for size comparison to another jacket I own, I was told that this jacket is specifically cut a bit short because it is designed to wear under a shell which would attach to their ski pants. If longer, the "sweater would get in the way. Seems to make sense). September 19, 2011
Patagonia always has the best quality jackets and coats you can get, especially with the down sweater. Super warm and is big enough to wear a sweater underneath. I'm 5'5, 125 lbs and it is a tad bulky but I won't be wearing a tank top underneath it! Great jacket for those cold, windy winter days. September 1, 2011
Very pleased! I was thrilled to find last season's version on the outlet site. Having tried on the current version, it was too tight for me as it was tapered to make it more appealing for women. However, as a mature woman, these changes made it too tight in my bust and hip areas. This version is just perfect for those of us who need a little more room in these areas. The color is nicer too, as this is a warmer blue vs. the bright blue of the newer version. August 1, 2011
Patagonia Down Sweater This is absolutely my favorite jacket. It fits me well and is stylish. It is very comfortable and can be worn throughout the year. I have purchased two of these jackets. I also purchased one for my husband and he enjoys his Patagonia Down Sweater. These jackets are of high quality. July 15, 2011
Perfect Ski Layer Love, love, love the down sweater. In my fantasy winter universe, I would own several in different colors, one with a hood. They keep me toasty warm when it's very cold and yet vent well when unzipped if the sun comes out. Looking forward to the new colors for the 11/12 ski season! July 3, 2011
Like wearing a cloud This is the best "puffy coat" I have ever owned. It is amazingly warm without making me look like a Michelin man (or woman). It is so light, packs down so small, and it fits easily underneath a shell. It works great as a city jacket to wear out to dinner as well since it is fitted and flattering. I thought the sizing somewhat on the large side. I am 5'7" and 125 lbs and normally wear a small, but bought an xs in this jacket as I wanted it to be more fitted and the size small kind of hung on me. I also have long arms and even the xs arms are long enough, which is great. June 5, 2011
It's so light down jacket, even lighter than my softshell jacket. At the same time, it could provide much warmth for me in winter. But I think it's more suitable for a middle layer inside a hardshell, as it 's not very durable. It 's very soft and I feel very comfy with it. May 22, 2011
wouldn't be without it This down sweater is exactly what I was looking for. It meets all my criteria for where I live and what I do. I hike in the early mornings so I need warmth but I also need light weight . This sweater packs well into small compartments and pops out still looking great! The fit is perfect. I have two Patagonia in this style Brown and Amaranth . I've received numerous compliments both on the street and on the trails. They are a bit expensive for me, however the quality is unsurpassed and I haven't regretted it .It's worth the investment to feel good and look good! May 16, 2011
Purple Pillow Sweater I'm 5'4", 150 lbs and the ladies Large is a good fit. I had tried on and loved my brother's Men's Medium and I'm thrilled at the fashionable cut and style of my Women's Large. When asked about fit, I found the arm length to be as long as the Men's Medium, which I can accomodate. I refer to the sweater as a purple pillow, a purple down pillow, because when I wear it that's what I feel like I'm surrounded with. Soft, cushy, warm without being overly so, ducky down sweater. I feel chic when wearing it, as it accompanies well many styles of clothing, from skirts, to work pants and jeans. April 29, 2011
Storm blue is a beauty! This is a very warm, very light and comfortable jacket. But the color was the attraction. A beautiful low-key blue that is nice in town as well as for sports. (Not wild and aggressive like the turquoise hooded version of winter (which is also very nice in the ice and snow!) I would be happy to wear these light weight, down sweaters (in many colors) forever. I am petite and wear the XS, which is loose and flattering but not overwhelming like down used to be on someone small. (I also like the nano puff pullover for warmer times.) March 23, 2011
Perfect for my uses The Patagonia down sweater is perfect for very cold days in coastal California--meaning mid 30s to mid 40's--with a base layer and sweater underneath. I can see wearing it on cool nights later in the year with just a thin sweater underneath. It fits well under a rain jacket, and has roomy arms so a fleece underneath would work. Arms slightly Michelin-man, but the body is sleek and stylish. Nice deep pockets--wish they had fleecy lining, but they're warm enough because of the down. Wish it had a dedicated MP3 player pocket, but it does have an interior zipper pocket (that also serves as a stuff sack). It is light as a feather, will be perfect for summer backpacking in the Sierras. Fully zipped the collar is warm and it's comfortable around my neck. And Patagonia stands behind everything they make. I'm 5'4" and weigh about 135, and the medium fits well. March 22, 2011
Great Packable Down Jacket This is a great packable down jacket for light or ultra light weight backpacking. I bought it mostly because I am trying to move to light weight backpacking and tend to get cold. My old down jacket weighted a ton, but this one is so light and packs down to a small ball. Took it snow camping and it did a great job with a rain jacket over the top. If you are trying to go more light weight I strongly recommend this jacket. Also if you buy online you can get a more neutral color than the crazy colors they are selling in the stores. March 22, 2011
Super warm and lightweight! I bought the down sweater jacket to wear under my ski shell on really cold days. I couldn't believe how warm it kept me--and I am always freezing! I also slip on the jacket just to head outside, and it's cozy like a blanket, but incredible light. I returned the small for an extra-small, forgetting Patagonia runs big (at least in my experience). I'm 5'3"/115 lbs. It's still not a terrible snug fit, but that's great if you want to wear a couple of layers underneath. I want to buy the hooded version next, because I can imagine how warm that would keep me on windy days. The jacket was surprisingly water-repellent, too, although I wasn't hanging out in the wet snow for that long. Fast-drying, I spot-cleaned a stain, stuck it in the dryer with clean tennis balls for 10 minutes, and was good to go! The cinch-cord on the bottom only tightens on one side; therefore, I have to remember to un-cinch it when I'm done skiing so I'm not walking around with a lopsided hem. No big deal--especially if you don't care about having the jacket wind-tight. March 14, 2011
Great coat I did a lot of research prior to purchasing this coat, and I'm really pleased with my decision. The coat has a nice, tailored fit - it's not too bulky so it looks nice while still being very warm. It's lighter weight and comfortable, so it's not the warmest coat out there, but it's very easy to add layers underneath. It's also extremely packable, so if necessary, you can stuff it in your purse. It's also quite comfortable in a range of temperatures, so it's easy to wear and keep on even when I head inside. March 6, 2011
w's downsweater I love this jacket! The fit and weight are perfect. Just what I want for X country skiing. But sadly I had to return it and order another color. I ordered the Natural and this is the color I really wanted. But I noticed that the darker down feathers actually show through. I was very surprised given the high quality of Patagonia products. But I have ordered another color because I do love the jacket and the Altrec staff were great as always. I do think that Patagonia needs to look into this problem and I'm sure they will. March 3, 2011
Good Purchase The patagonia jacket for women is a great purchase - the jacket is light weight and yet so very warm. I think I however got one of the bad jackets in the batch because mine had a few spots where feathers were coming out and when I would try to release one of the feathers there was a neverending amount of thick feathers sticking out of the jacket. I've exchanged mine for a new one and hope that the quality is a little better. Customer service was fantastic on the phone. March 2, 2011
LOVE THE LOOK BUT NOT THE FIT I love the look and feel of this coat ...it is so light weight and comfortable . I am sorry to say though I will be returning as I am not happy with the fit . I am 5'5 130 lbs and the medium is just to big in the sleeves as well as the body . I went to a local store and tried the small but was not happy with that fit either ... boxy looking. I really wish Patagonia would aim for a nicer, more feminine fit ! TO BAD as the coat is really beautiful in the feather grey ! February 23, 2011
Light as a feather I have three of these - in offwhite, black and red. I have them in size S, M and L. The S and M from different years fit about the same and I am 5'4" and 136lbs. The L, I got big so I could wear a fleece jacket underneath to stay warm. Now, everyone I know who has this jacket, including my husband say it's "toasty" over a shirt. For me, it does not keep me warm. I can wear it in the spring in AK or Winter in Calif (I even wore it in Hawaii in Feb this year) but for the true winter in AK, I needed to layer. Great for travelling since it stuffs into itself (or ziploc bag) and put away while on the plane. Full price is a bit pricey but definitely try it esp when you can get it cheaper here! i gave a 4 for most because it didn't fit all my needs, such as comfort, and also because the stiching on the one I wear most got snagged and now I have a piece of string hanging about 4 inches that I don't want to cut! The down is shifting there, but then I hear Patagonia will mend it for you. February 22, 2011
LOVE this down sweater I'm embarassed to say that I'm now up to 4 of these down sweaters. Over the past couple years, I've become a diehard fan of these for warmth, comfort, and style. They seem to fit the bill on cool days as an outer layer and on super cold days as a perfect layer under a shell. I get compliments on the look of them every time I wear them and they're so lightweight that I feel like I'm wearing a warm piece of air. February 21, 2011
Pleased customer This coat "sweater" is exactly what I was looking for and the description was very accurate. So feather weight that my husband thought the package was a skein of yarn I had ordered!! The coat is very warm and was put to the test the first night I wore it....stood up to high winds off the lake in Michigan. As in the reviews I read before, the sleeves are plenty long for me, but not bothersome. I have also received several positive comments from friends and family on the appearance. I would definitely recommend this product. Also, this is my first Patagonia purchase.....always bought for my children and they wore like iron, but never made the investment for myself. Soooooooooo glad I did! February 18, 2011
She loves it! So I got this as a birthsday gift to a friend that moved from Los Angeles to Tornado Alley in Nebraska, and this winter was harsh, so I ditched the chocolates and flowers and got her something more useful... this Patagonia sweater/jacket! When she got out the box these were her words: "How is this super LIGHT jacket going to keep me warm in this 10 degree weather?!" and then she tried it on and walked home for lunch and her jaw dropped at how warm it was. She loved the "sweater" fit because could use another coat over it if needed. Rain drops beaded off. I got her the fire red and she looks hot in it! I'm getting jelous that she's turning heads out there. February 16, 2011
fantastic I love this jacket....I live in northern california, and so far have worn it almost every day since I got it in January. It's the perfect weight, not bulky, and almost as warm as my bulkier patagoia down jacket that I don't wear anymore. This jacket is much better for moving around, and feeling feminine. I can easily get a mid-weight sweater underneath it, and I ordered a small. ( I weigh 130) February 12, 2011
Highly Recommended for Comfort, Weight In moderate winter climates (>25F), this sweater will keep you WARM. Fit is very comfortable, not bulky in the least, and lightweight. If need be, it can be easily worn as a layer under a shell. I am very sensitive to the cold, and this sweater has been my go-to since it arrived. I am petite-sized (5' 2"), and the XS fits perfectly, although a bit long in the arms. Overall, a very reliable down sweater/jacket, and the light weight is the big bonus. February 2, 2011
Great Buy! I love this jacket. I live in San Diego where it gets chilly enough to need a warm jacket. This one fits perfectly - I bought a medium and it has enough room (but not a lot) to wear over a heavy sweater. I thought I might need a small because some of the reviews said it runs large but I find that it's true to size. (I'm 5'7', 133 lbs and size 8) It's lightweight and the purple color (with lavender lining) is gorgeous. I rolled the sleeves a little to show the lavender. I plan to pack it in my suitcase for at trip to Lake Tahoe at the end of the month. It packs easily (you could roll it up) and will be great on long airplane flights when it gets chilly. It's really perfect for almost any trip if you need a lightweight warm sweater. January 31, 2011
Patagonia womens down sweater I love this jacket. I have 3 of them so far! I am never too hot or too cold. It is a great top layer but also fits very well under a shell jacket. This is my go-to jacket. I use it to ski, shop, go out to dinner. It packs great so it goes with me everywhere. January 30, 2011
Down Perfection! This jacket weighs next to nothing and it feels so incredibly comfortable. I bought it for when I go on my power walks. Warm if it is cold out, but if the day gets a little warmer out, the jacket still remains comfortable! And when it is zippered all the way up, the smallest bit of fabric keeps the zipper from flipping up into your face. (Hey, it's the little things right?) It is perfect for travel because it folds into a pocket. What down jacket could you pack in your purse or carry on? I just cannot say enough good things about it!!! January 28, 2011
Really nice! This down sweater is a beautiful color (I ordered purple) but was really big. I ordered a medium and need a small for sure. I am 5'8" 130 lbs and the arms still were too long, body was too big too. I am sending back and will reorder the small and can't wait to receive it! January 20, 2011
Purchased for my wife as a gift. She lights the lightweight and simplicity. Makes a great pillow when stored in the internal zipper pocket. January 14, 2011
Great jacket! I recently purchased the down sweater, and I love it! I was always wearing a zip up fleece under a shell, and while it kept me warm, I was tired of always dealing with layers. This jacket is as warm as I had hoped, and I'm so happy to be done with the layers! The area where I live has pretty cold winters, with high daytime temps only reaching the high 20's to low 30's recently. I have been wearing this jacket over a couple of layered t-shirts, and it has kept me completely warm. The collar keeps both my neck warm and the wind out, and the sleeves are long enough to pull over my hands. The quality seems to be exactly what you'd expect of Patagonia. I also love that it's nice and warm, but not bulky. I looked at other down jackets, and it was hard to find one that didn't make me look like a marshmallow. This is great, and I'd recommend it to anyone. January 13, 2011
Luxurious feel I wanted a down jacket and found altrec to have a good selection & return policy. I'm picky about my gear because I'm a wolf watching guide in Yellowstone. Winter is one of our biggest seasons and we are occasionally out in below zero weather. This jacket has really been growing on me, and is my favorite right now (I have several). It works best in a layering system--if its really cold out, you need a shell or second jacket over it b/c its not enough insulation by itself. Sometimes I use a shell over it, and if its less than about 20 degrees, I wear a second insulative jacket over it. I really like Patagonia's sizing--the jacket fits well with a sweater under it (I bought it a little large too). It is such high quality that it feels dreamy on. When I bought this jacket the bottom line was the fit, but knowing Patagonia uses recycled materials was a huge bonus (reduces industrial toxins). January 11, 2011
See through??? Great company, great performance, but sending this one back...It needs to fit a bit tighter in torso area(but great length in arms!) it's a bit roomy. The real downfall in this item is related specifically to the color I ordered, natural. Specifically, the shell material (natural color) is transparent, so the down and various feather colors are visible through the shell. As a result, it almost appears as though it was washed accidentally with a blue colored item (e.g. blue pen) and damaged! Overall, I was disappointed in fit and lack of attention in design of this particular color(transparency), not performance or quality of use. This is the first time I have EVER had an issue with a Patagonia product- I will continue to patron this brand. January 10, 2011
Great jacket This jacket is extremely light and comfortable. It also is somewhat water repellent. Much larger cut than last year's model. Love the new colors. Would highly recommend. January 8, 2011
Great down jacket I bought this for my wife for Christmas and she loved it so much she bough another for our daughter. It is very warm and will pack very easy and small for camping trips and hikes. January 8, 2011
Excellent Product This jacket weighs absolutely nothing. In addition it can pack down into any of it's pockets making it incredibly easy to "carry along" for an "as needed" situation. For any people that spend full days outside ( instructors ) it is a great 2nd layer for defeating the morning chill or if your work takes you into the evening hours. December 28, 2010
Overall great jacket! Jacket fits true to size, I am usually a medium in tops and the medium fit perfectly with just slightly long sleeves that you can pull over your hands when cold. Very warm for such a lightweight jacket and have gotten tons of compliments on the purple! Will wear under a shell during the snowy/windy days. Love it! December 27, 2010
I LOVE this down sweater When we were traveling recently, my friend had one of these Patagonia down sweaters, and she wore it, or had it with her every single day. She says she travels with it all the time, and has used it not only as a jacket/sweater, but as a pillow, sleepwear, and comforter. When we got home, I ordered one, and I LOVE it. I've hardly been parted with it except for sleeping. It has a great temperature range which lets you wear it indoors, and outdoors too. Comfortable to a little below 40 for me.The pockets are perfect. Love the inside one, which will fit a small wallet, so I don't have to carry a purse. I definitely recommend this. December 27, 2010
Awesome Jacket...light & warm This jacket is awesome! It is very light and extremely warm. Layer a nice water/wind proof over this jacket and create your own portable oven. Throw it on over a t-shirt and your ready to roll around town. December 27, 2010
most favorite cold weather jacket! I live in snow country!! I have had many, many jackets and this one is by far the BEST!! I love how it fits, feels, and keeps me super warm. It is not bulky, but the warmth is amazing! A must for the winter!! December 20, 2010
I need to take it off sometime! I am now living in this item and I think my family and friends are hoping that I will start wearing something else at some point. But it is so very cozy! We have had very cold temps for North Carolina this season, and this jacket keeps me comfortable all day long. It seems to adjust magically to my body temperature and the surrounding temps, whether indoors or out. I am going to get the vest for my Christmas gift to myself. December 13, 2010
Great style with warmth! The Black Down Sweater has a great classic look. It's a comfortable fit , so lightweight, but with lots of warmth. I wear a size 12 and the Size L was great for layering underneath. My first purchase had the quilt stitching come undone. "Altrec" promptly replaced, paying return shipping costs. Great service! December 11, 2010
Great down "sweater" I thought the title of this product was a little odd but it's exactly right: a down sweater, not a jacket and certainly not a shell. It's extremely comfortable, fits very well and is stylish. It has a great inside pocket, and it's made in classic Patagonia style, i.e., with attention to detail. I'm 5'8" and 138 pounds, and have rather broad shoulders, and this Medium fit me great. If I put a lot of items in the pockets it poofs out a bit, but it still fits fine, if a tiny bit tight. I wear it over t-shirts as well as over light wool sweaters, and the jacket accommodates all. December 5, 2010
Worth the Wait Have been wanting a Patagonia Down Sweater for years and finally decided to buy myself one! Missed out on the Seaport color last year, but the Volcanic Blue is just as beautiful. All the colors are always fantastic! It was definitely worth the wait--weightless, warm, functional on its own or under a parka, and looks great. I am 5'4, 120 and the small is just right. Get it to fit like a sweater and you will be most happy! December 5, 2010
Perfection No complaints on this jacket whatsoever. Over the years my girlfriend has tried several different down sweaters, and none have been quite right until now. The quality is typical Patagonia, which is to say top notch. The warmth is surprising for something this lightweight, and seems decidedly warmer than similar products tried from Marmot and North Face. Great balance overall in sizing, with the torso/body length and the arms being proportional. Overall the jacket is tending toward semi-form fitting, but I would not say overly so or anything qualifying as "fitted" or "athletic", but it's definitely not loose or tended to layer anything very heavy underneath. Best lightweight down! Great jacket! Expected Patagonia quality. Used to wear large but due to changes in Patagonia sizing, the medium fit in this jacket. I'm getting lots of compliments on this one! November 29, 2010
Great Baselayer with Style. The Patagonia down sweater is very comfortable, stylish, and flattering and you won't look like a geek wearing it. It performs well as a baselayer or kicking around the basecamp because the down insulation is not as thick as a Patagonia down jacket. The down sweater is not waterproof, but it is not intended to perform like a shell. The nylon is thin like many down jackets and a shell would help prevent tears or runs. The sweater is very light and packable and the construction lives up to Patagonia standards. November 28, 2010
Love it! Wow! I heard that Patagonia is one of the best but I never experienced it. That jacket/sweater is not only light it is extremly light. It feels like having a shirt on me. It is so warm that in 30F of cold I had only T-shirt under and it was comfortably warm. The shape is really nice too. I look very feminine. So I can give it a 10 of 10! November 10, 2010
Addicted to this Jacket! This jacket is a must for your cold weather gear. Let's just say that I have more than one (maybe two or three?!) as I am addicted to this article of clothing. The "sweaters" come in an array of fantastic colors and are oh so soft and WARM! I tend to wear them alone for cold weather excursions around town and when I am on the slopes, I usually layer them with a windstopper under or over it. If it is snowing I wear the jacket under a water proof shell. They are versatile and have so many uses. You can wear them in any and all winter conditions. I know if you purchase this gem of a coat you surely will not be disappointed! October 26, 2010
Excellent jacket Bought this for my girlfriend, who is always on the cold side. She loves it! Though she does not adventure much into the backcountry, it keeps her stylishly warm around town. It's fitted around the waist, so there's a slimming effect. And since it's just feathers, it's so light she barely notices she wearing it. Also great for traveling since it compresses. In all, warm, stylish, light, and compact! September 18, 2010
great little jacket I wore this jacket every morning and evening for a week in the Tetons and Yellowstone and it was perfect for the chilly temps (below freezing in the early a.m.) What a perfect choice for travel! Light weight, packs super easily, looks great and feels lovely. Warm, but not heavy. Even made a good pillow in my sleeping bag. Probably won't be enough in the middle of winter on super-cold days, but great for fall and winter chill. Fits nicely - what I would expect from a medium these days. Love the purple - Love this jacket in general! Can't really comment on durability, because I've only had it for a couple of weeks, but it seems reasonable sturdy for a lightweight down jacket.
