Warm and Very Light!
July 06, 2012
I was looking for a jacket I could wear in the backcountry as well as around town, and this lightweight down sweater is perfect. It is well made, zips easily, and ultra-comfortable. The fit is flattering, so much better than the "puffer" jackets I have had in the past. Since I am moving more and more towards using ultra-lite gear for backpacking, I am really pleased that this jacket weighs in at a mere 11.3 ounces, and will compact down to the size of a water bottle. I did get this jacket in the mango orange, and I love the color. However, I have to agree with several other reviews that it appears dirty with the darker down feathers showing through. I am trying to decide how much this bothers me and whether or not I should try exchanging it for a darker color, or try the high loft version to see if there is a difference.

looks/feels awesome

love the look and feel of this jacket. ordered a size L and it's just a bit big in the chest but know that a size M would have been too small/tight. The length of the coat is great too as I like to have the small of my back covered - I'm 5'6". While it is an expensive item, it will last a lifetime I'm sure. Am excited for the colder weather so I can sport my new look.
Pros: Great designLight, stylish and warm

I noticed this jacket was selling out in stores and on websites, and I now see why. This jacket is so light to carry around, it is warm, and it is SO cute! It is so cute that as I was crossing the street the other day, a guy stopped his car in the middle of the crosswalk to yell after me, "Nice jacket!" As I passed through a cashier in a cafe she said to me, "That is a gorgeous jacket. Gorgeous!" Patagonia designed this really well because it is very warm (800 fill) and not so puffy that it makes you look funny. In fact, I'm lucky I am able to get away with a size small. At 5' 1'' I have a small frame, yet I am large in the bust (C to D cup). This jacket fits well and allows me to layer. And it is SO light. Originally I purchased the Merrill Isadore parka in black size small. This also fits me well, and it too is very warm at only 650 fill. However, it is so heavy! I found this out when traveling. I was too hot to wear it on the airplane, and it was too bulky to stuff in my bag. I missed my chance to put it in the overhead and so I had this big thing on my lap the whole 6 hour flight! This would have never happened with the Patagonia down sweater, because it is so light and compress, and comes with its own built in stuff sack that is perfect for travel. I can also easily tie this jacket around my waist when hiking and warmed up. I love this jacket! It's also cute and stylish enough to wear in the office or casually on the weekends. I haven't washed it yet, but am trusting it will wash and dry easily. I also notice the fabric does not catch on things. Whereas some jackets (such as the Merrill Isadore) could get an easy snag, this one seems to repel objects that might catch such as rough fingernails and such. Thank goodness, because no one wants a ding in an expensive down jacket.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts foreverStorm blue is a beauty!
March 23, 2011
This is a very warm, very light and comfortable jacket. But the color was the attraction. A beautiful low-key blue that is nice in town as well as for sports. (Not wild and aggressive like the turquoise hooded version of winter (which is also very nice in the ice and snow!) I would be happy to wear these light weight, down sweaters (in many colors) forever. I am petite and wear the XS, which is loose and flattering but not overwhelming like down used to be on someone small. (I also like the nano puff pullover for warmer times.)
Pros: Great design, Performance, Ease of use, Great valueThe best jacket

I like my new jacket. I bought jacket in curacao color.I have been worn two times only whether it is amaizing. Light, cozy and warm. Moreover, this jacket fit me perfect. I am 1.7' and 159lb. However, sleeves just little bit too long, but not too much as usually to me. I hope,I will enjoy my new jacket.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Ease of use, Great value, Cons: CostLove it !

I bought this for myself in a size M (I'm 5'4", 140 lbs) and it fits great! Not too tight so there's room for an additional layer if it's going to be colder outside. Typically I wear it in 40/50's weather with a long sleeve (and maybe a short sleeve underneath) and it's perfect. Not too hot and not too bulky. When my mom came to visit - she loved it so much she ended up ordering one for herself. They travel frequently and she loved the way it folded up into a small bag. The only downside is that since it's down - I wouldn't use this in rainy weather unless you wore a waterproof shell over it. I did wash and dry the coat (like it says on the care instructions) along with 2 tennis balls and the coat looks great! (So you probably could get it wet without issues but it may take a while to dry).

Very Satisfied
January 11, 2012
This is a perfect light weight down jacket that provides excellent warmth without being bulky. It layers well underneath a shell or can be worn as a solo outer layer. I'm 5'6" and weigh 135lb, and the small was a perfect fit. I never want to take it off!
Pros: Great designw's downsweater
March 03, 2011
I love this jacket! The fit and weight are perfect. Just what I want for X country skiing. But sadly I had to return it and order another color. I ordered the Natural and this is the color I really wanted. But I noticed that the darker down feathers actually show through. I was very surprised given the high quality of Patagonia products. But I have ordered another color because I do love the jacket and the Altrec staff were great as always. I do think that Patagonia needs to look into this problem and I'm sure they will.

Perfect for my uses
March 22, 2011
The Patagonia down sweater is perfect for very cold days in coastal California--meaning mid 30s to mid 40's--with a base layer and sweater underneath. I can see wearing it on cool nights later in the year with just a thin sweater underneath. It fits well under a rain jacket, and has roomy arms so a fleece underneath would work. Arms slightly Michelin-man, but the body is sleek and stylish. Nice deep pockets--wish they had fleecy lining, but they're warm enough because of the down. Wish it had a dedicated MP3 player pocket, but it does have an interior zipper pocket (that also serves as a stuff sack). It is light as a feather, will be perfect for summer backpacking in the Sierras. Fully zipped the collar is warm and it's comfortable around my neck. And Patagonia stands behind everything they make. I'm 5'4" and weigh about 135, and the medium fits well.
Pros: Build quality, Lasts forever, Ease of useGreat jacket
November 03, 2011
I love the jacket. I got the wrong size. I am going to exchange it because it is the perfect jacket to wear around the house when it is cold and it keeps me from turning up the heat.
Pros: Great design, Build qualityWife loved it!
January 03, 2012
I bought this as a Christmas present for my wife and she loves it. It is a good jacket for wearing around town and layering at the ski hill. I'd be a little careful around nipping pups as I don't think the material would hold up to little teeth.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, PerformanceGood Purchase
March 02, 2011
The patagonia jacket for women is a great purchase - the jacket is light weight and yet so very warm. I think I however got one of the bad jackets in the batch because mine had a few spots where feathers were coming out and when I would try to release one of the feathers there was a neverending amount of thick feathers sticking out of the jacket. I've exchanged mine for a new one and hope that the quality is a little better. Customer service was fantastic on the phone.
Pros: Great design, Ease of use, Cons: Wears quickly, Cost, Poor qualityHighly Recommended for Comfort, Weight
February 02, 2011
In moderate winter climates (>25F), this sweater will keep you WARM. Fit is very comfortable, not bulky in the least, and lightweight. If need be, it can be easily worn as a layer under a shell. I am very sensitive to the cold, and this sweater has been my go-to since it arrived. I am petite-sized (5' 2"), and the XS fits perfectly, although a bit long in the arms. Overall, a very reliable down sweater/jacket, and the light weight is the big bonus.
Pros: Great design, Ease of usefantastic
February 12, 2011
I love this jacket....I live in northern california, and so far have worn it almost every day since I got it in January. It's the perfect weight, not bulky, and almost as warm as my bulkier patagoia down jacket that I don't wear anymore. This jacket is much better for moving around, and feeling feminine. I can easily get a mid-weight sweater underneath it, and I ordered a small. ( I weigh 130)
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of usePurple Pillow Sweater
April 29, 2011
I'm 5'4", 150 lbs and the ladies Large is a good fit. I had tried on and loved my brother's Men's Medium and I'm thrilled at the fashionable cut and style of my Women's Large. When asked about fit, I found the arm length to be as long as the Men's Medium, which I can accomodate. I refer to the sweater as a purple pillow, a purple down pillow, because when I wear it that's what I feel like I'm surrounded with. Soft, cushy, warm without being overly so, ducky down sweater. I feel chic when wearing it, as it accompanies well many styles of clothing, from skirts, to work pants and jeans.
Pros: Great designAlready own the Patagonia Down Sweater? Tell us your thoughts.
May 22, 2011
It's so light down jacket, even lighter than my softshell jacket. At the same time, it could provide much warmth for me in winter. But I think it's more suitable for a middle layer inside a hardshell, as it 's not very durable. It 's very soft and I feel very comfy with it.
September 20, 2011
I've been pining after this jacket or 'sweater' for months now. It's almost perfect. The color is great, the sleeves are very long, and it is WARM. I am tall and it would be better if it were a bit longer. Still, I'm glad I went with a small. It shipped really quickly via FedEx just in time for the first frost!

Very pleased!
August 01, 2011
I was thrilled to find last season's version on the outlet site. Having tried on the current version, it was too tight for me as it was tapered to make it more appealing for women. However, as a mature woman, these changes made it too tight in my bust and hip areas. This version is just perfect for those of us who need a little more room in these areas. The color is nicer too, as this is a warmer blue vs. the bright blue of the newer version.
LOVE THE LOOK BUT NOT THE FIT
February 23, 2011
I love the look and feel of this coat ...it is so light weight and comfortable . I am sorry to say though I will be returning as I am not happy with the fit . I am 5'5 130 lbs and the medium is just to big in the sleeves as well as the body . I went to a local store and tried the small but was not happy with that fit either ... boxy looking. I really wish Patagonia would aim for a nicer, more feminine fit ! TO BAD as the coat is really beautiful in the feather grey !
Pros: Build quality, comfort, Cons: poor fitwouldn't be without it
May 16, 2011
This down sweater is exactly what I was looking for. It meets all my criteria for where I live and what I do. I hike in the early mornings so I need warmth but I also need light weight . This sweater packs well into small compartments and pops out still looking great! The fit is perfect. I have two Patagonia in this style Brown and Amaranth . I've received numerous compliments both on the street and on the trails. They are a bit expensive for me, however the quality is unsurpassed and I haven't regretted it .It's worth the investment to feel good and look good!
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of useGreat jacket for cool weather
October 01, 2011
This jacket is great, it keeps you warm into the mid 30s, it is very comfortable, fairly wind proof and it provides some protection against rain. The fit is true to its size. I highly recommend this jacket for cool fall and spring days. This jacket would also work for mild winter weather. Overall a great jacket, I have purchased another for a friend since my original purchase.
Great jacket!
October 27, 2011
I got a great price on this jacket at Altrec and I love the jacket. It is warm and also does well in rainy conditions. I wore it in Denver's first snow storm of the year (October 25th, 2011) and paired it up with a goretex shell and was dry and warm through a whole day of walks and commutes in the snow. I like the prickly pear color a lot.
Pros: Great design, Performance, Great valueLove This Jacket/Sweater and Patagonia Generally
January 12, 2012
FIT: I am very petite (5'4 and wears p2) and the XS fits very good on the body (enough room for a tight fitting hoodie underneath but also looks good, not too big, with just a tee underneath). I have been wearing Patagonia for over 15 years and have only encountered once, or twice, when its XS was overall way too big. It is not the case with this sweater/jacket. However, even when the fit on the body is good, the length of the sleeves is always a bit long. Nevertheless, for a jacket, this is fine because I can use the extra fabric to cover my entire hand during times when I don't have a pair of gloves handy and need the extra coverage. Despite this, the look, with the cuffs at the wrist, is not compromised. WARMTH: With down insulation, I don't usually get too hot, but am warm enough to be comfortable. As a note, heat retention for any down jackets/vests are lost when the down gets wet (see below). WATER PROTECTION: I have not worn this jacket in the rain yet, but can comment on my experience with other Patagonia down products. With my other Patagonia down jackets, water protection is good as long as I don't wear it in heavy down pours for more than 15 minutes (light rain is ok). Once water gets through the fabric into the down, the down looses its ability to retain heat. CONSTRUCTION: I have not had this jacket long enough to comment but, again, can comment on my other experiences. I have a Patagonia down vest that is exactly the same as, or very similar to, this sweater/jacket, and throughout numerous and various wearings and washes, the threats are still very securely intact and it still looks the same as it did the first time I saw it (the fact that it is black may also be a reason why it still looks good and new). OTHER COMMENTS: Altrec ships fast! I got this product within 3 days! Thanks, Altrec! I will definitely do business with you again!

This is the best "puffy coat" I have ever owned. It is amazingly warm without making me look like a Michelin man (or woman). It is so light, packs down so small, and it fits easily underneath a shell. It works great as a city jacket to wear out to dinner as well since it is fitted and flattering. I thought the sizing somewhat on the large side. I am 5'7" and 125 lbs and normally wear a small, but bought an xs in this jacket as I wanted it to be more fitted and the size small kind of hung on me. I also have long arms and even the xs arms are long enough, which is great.
Don't buy it in the orange color
March 10, 2012
I returned this item. The orange fabric showed through, the dark down feather filling, so it looked like the entire sweater had been washed with something black. Very undesirable look. I have the nano puff pullover in pink, and that one is wonderful, with no showing of the fill. Not sure if the difference is the filling or the color of the fabric. But would not recommend the down sweater at all, unless you don't care if it looks dirty. Highly recommend the nano puff.

my daughter went off to the east coast for college and i was so worried that she would be cold. sent her this jacket and she loves it. she did not want a puffy coat originally because she thought it would be unflattering. it is light, warm and not too puffy. love the gray color because she did not want black. the fact that she did not return it is a big thumbs up. essential for east coast wardrobe--best thing it is so light

I have a friend that has raved about this jacket for years! I finally bought one. I normally wear fleece jackets all day in the winter! Now I will wear this. It is warm and so comfortable. ALso looks stylish on - not boxy! I love having the zippered pockets and well as the inside pocket! All around great jacket! So happy to have it!

Great Packable Down Jacket
March 22, 2011
This is a great packable down jacket for light or ultra light weight backpacking. I bought it mostly because I am trying to move to light weight backpacking and tend to get cold. My old down jacket weighted a ton, but this one is so light and packs down to a small ball. Took it snow camping and it did a great job with a rain jacket over the top. If you are trying to go more light weight I strongly recommend this jacket. Also if you buy online you can get a more neutral color than the crazy colors they are selling in the stores.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of use, Cons: CostGreat jacket
December 26, 2011
Purchased this jacket for my daughter, she loves it -warm without the bulk. It's comfortable and fits true to the size but there is enough room to fit a sweater under it also.
Pros: Build qualityAwesome colors
January 07, 2013
Even though this jacket is not as puffy as some others you will be plenty warm. I have been in temps below 32 for 37 days and counting I am still warm. The colors are fun and bright. Enjoy!! Don' forget this jacket is great to pack as it rolls into a pocket inside the jacket.
Pros: Great design, Performance, Great valueI use it all the time
December 03, 2012
I bought this down sweater for travel due to it's light-weight but I find that I reach for it in the spring, in the fall, and into the winter. I like that I can wear a sweater under this jacket and the sleeves don't get too tight. This is a very versatile piece, worth the money! I am 5'2, 140 and the medium fits nicely. I think I am going to get the hi-loft sweater next, because I hear that it is a bit longer and warmer, and curvier. The only down-side to this jacket is it's loft. I would say it works well from 25-60 degrees, but any temp lower than that and you will want more warmth. I do get some static wearing this jacket but I don't want to spray static guard on it, I'm afraid it will ruin the material.

I have got this jacket with promp delivery, thanks to Altrec.com and luckly I can get the size to fit me well. i am 5.6" tall, 120 lbs and a small size fits me well that even you can put somthing inside the zip pocket and feel free. it is super light weight that I feel like I was buying some cottons when the package was received!!!The Amaranth color is so nice that it is out of my expect apart from just viewing it from the website. It is more likely a purple-pink color, a good match with the light blue zips. i just love it so much and highly commend for frequent traveller who wants a light and decent warm down jacket.

I love this jacket. I have 3 of them so far! I am never too hot or too cold. It is a great top layer but also fits very well under a shell jacket. This is my go-to jacket. I use it to ski, shop, go out to dinner. It packs great so it goes with me everywhere.

Feminine fit!
August 08, 2012
I have a hard time finding down jackets because I am short and big busted 36D. As result, most down jackets look boxy and are too poofy. This jacket is fitted and shorter in length and the look is oh so feminine. Love it! The only downside, as other reviewers have said, you can see the down material through the fabric. I purchased the mango color and you can definitely see the filling. Still, I love it and am keeping it! Bought this in L and the Nano Puff Jacket in L. This was perfect, the Nano was too big and had to be sent back.

I am 5'9'' and weigh 138lbs. The color is fantastic (prickly pear) I am used to dark colors and was very happy with my choice. The back of this jacket is longer, it is great for sitting and being active. The sides are a little on the short side, but nothing that I can't get past. I ordered a large, it fits a little bigger with just a t-shirt....it should be perfect with a fitted sweatshirt for those cold Pittsburgh days.

I have the Down Sweater is the limited Edition silver from 2010 and I absolutely love it. I bought the Bougainvillia Down Swearer because I loved the pink. When I received it and tried it on it looked dirty due to the amount of dark feathers used in the down of the jacket. It fits great and wears great, but the color isn't good.

Lightweight, takes up very little space when packed, yet very warm and comfortable. Love the color selection. Roomy enough to fit a light jacket or sweater underneath. Even looks nice. Buy one for hiking, snowshoeing, travel, or around town.
Pros: Performance, Ease of use, Cons: CostCozy comfort
December 30, 2011
This down jacket is surprisingly lightweight for the warmth and comfort it provides. I love how stylish it looks and that I don't look or feel all puffed up like the Michelin Man when wearing it. It is perfect for night-time winter walks in the desert, or winter hiking in the surrounding mountains where I live. I'll take it next autumn to Yellowstone, too.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of use, Great valueDown Perfection!
January 28, 2011
This jacket weighs next to nothing and it feels so incredibly comfortable. I bought it for when I go on my power walks. Warm if it is cold out, but if the day gets a little warmer out, the jacket still remains comfortable! And when it is zippered all the way up, the smallest bit of fabric keeps the zipper from flipping up into your face. (Hey, it's the little things right?) It is perfect for travel because it folds into a pocket. What down jacket could you pack in your purse or carry on? I just cannot say enough good things about it!!!
Pros: Great design, Performance, Ease of use, Great valueStunning!
March 16, 2012
I love my down sweater. I had been eyeing this coat for about a year and finally broke down and bought it. I'm so glad I did. It is very light--not heavy on the shoulders like a lot of warm coats--but very cozy and warm. I have gotten so many complements wearing it to school ( I teach) and wearing it on the playground when I have recess duty.
Pros: Build qualityGreat versatile piece
October 16, 2011
I purchased this jacket at the recommendation of a friend after moving to Southwestern Colorado; this is a great piece that can be used for many activities and functions and I highly recommend it. I am 5'6, 135lbs with a narrow chest and waist. I initially ordered a medium with the intent to have room for layering, but returned the item for a small which proved to be a much better fit. The waist is contoured for a feminine fit, but I find the shoulders & arms to be a bit roomier than I'd prefer. Please also be aware that the jacket hits right at the top of most pants, so don't expect this to always catch those exposed slivers of midriff! The fit affords plenty of flexibility, so it's a great piece for hiking and other activity where range of motion is key. This jacket is lightweight, compactable, and quite warm. Even slipping it on over just a bathing suit after stepping out of a hot tub, it immediately warms up and gets the job done. You need this jacket!

I'm embarassed to say that I'm now up to 4 of these down sweaters. Over the past couple years, I've become a diehard fan of these for warmth, comfort, and style. They seem to fit the bill on cool days as an outer layer and on super cold days as a perfect layer under a shell. I get compliments on the look of them every time I wear them and they're so lightweight that I feel like I'm wearing a warm piece of air.

I love how lightweight this jacket is, yet it is extremely warm. I live in the mountains of Colorado and wear this jacket in all temperatures. It is comfortably worn and then packed away in a small backpack on a day hike when necessary. Also, it is so cute that I just love to wear it around town.

Great versatile piece

Patagonia Down Sweater
July 15, 2011
This is absolutely my favorite jacket. It fits me well and is stylish. It is very comfortable and can be worn throughout the year. I have purchased two of these jackets. I also purchased one for my husband and he enjoys his Patagonia Down Sweater. These jackets are of high quality.
fantastic

I love this jacket....I live in northern california, and so far have worn it almost every day since I got it in January. It's the perfect weight, not bulky, and almost as warm as my bulkier patagoia down jacket that I don't wear anymore. This jacket is much better for moving around, and feeling feminine. I can easily get a mid-weight sweater underneath it, and I ordered a small. ( I weigh 130)
Pros: Great valueGreat jacket for cool weather
October 01, 2011
This jacket is great, it keeps you warm into the mid 30s, it is very comfortable, fairly wind proof and it provides some protection against rain. The fit is true to its size. I highly recommend this jacket for cool fall and spring days. This jacket would also work for mild winter weather. Overall a great jacket, I have purchased another for a friend since my original purchase.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of useNot a good color
February 17, 2012
I have the Down Sweater is the limited Edition silver from 2010 and I absolutely love it. I bought the Bougainvillia Down Swearer because I loved the pink. When I received it and tried it on it looked dirty due to the amount of dark feathers used in the down of the jacket. It fits great and wears great, but the color isn't good.
Warm and lightweight
December 05, 2011
I can't believe how warm this is for its weight! The sleeves are long (yay!) and collar is high, providing great coverage. I am 5' 6," 125 lbs. and bought a Small.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, not bulky, light weightPatagonia down sweater

Love this down "jacket". I just stuff it in my daypack or backpack and go. I have been backpacking lots in the San Juan Mountains of colorado and don't need to carry as many layers as I used to because this jacket is great, light, and warm. Love the bright colors too. I wear a rain jacket over this "sweater" when the wind comes in or if it rains. Don't want to get it wet as I think that would be a mistake with down.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Ease of use, Great valueWarm and comfortable
March 15, 2013
I purchased this for my girlfriend since she was always wearing my men's version. She loves it. I ordered the charcoal one. The woman's version has a dark pink liner color and zipper tabs add a feminine look to the jacket. The only negative thing about the jacket is the down falls out easily. I see feathers coming out of the seems. I'm assuming Patagonia will refill it under warranty.
Pros: Build quality, Great value, Cons: leaks down feathersFeminine fit!

She loves it!
February 16, 2011
So I got this as a birthsday gift to a friend that moved from Los Angeles to Tornado Alley in Nebraska, and this winter was harsh, so I ditched the chocolates and flowers and got her something more useful... this Patagonia sweater/jacket! When she got out the box these were her words: "How is this super LIGHT jacket going to keep me warm in this 10 degree weather?!" and then she tried it on and walked home for lunch and her jaw dropped at how warm it was. She loved the "sweater" fit because could use another coat over it if needed. Rain drops beaded off. I got her the fire red and she looks hot in it! I'm getting jelous that she's turning heads out there.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of useGreat Item

Got one for my wife and now she has anther one, and now I have one too! Great down product. Those who understand the pros and cons of down and hence its proper utility will love it. Must have quiver item for life in the inter-mountain west.
Pros: packs small, light, Cons: water resistanceCan Wear All Day
November 16, 2012
I have a friend that has raved about this jacket for years! I finally bought one. I normally wear fleece jackets all day in the winter! Now I will wear this. It is warm and so comfortable. ALso looks stylish on - not boxy! I love having the zippered pockets and well as the inside pocket! All around great jacket! So happy to have it!

Light as a feather
February 22, 2011
I have three of these - in offwhite, black and red. I have them in size S, M and L. The S and M from different years fit about the same and I am 5'4" and 136lbs. The L, I got big so I could wear a fleece jacket underneath to stay warm. Now, everyone I know who has this jacket, including my husband say it's "toasty" over a shirt. For me, it does not keep me warm. I can wear it in the spring in AK or Winter in Calif (I even wore it in Hawaii in Feb this year) but for the true winter in AK, I needed to layer. Great for travelling since it stuffs into itself (or ziploc bag) and put away while on the plane. Full price is a bit pricey but definitely try it esp when you can get it cheaper here! i gave a 4 for most because it didn't fit all my needs, such as comfort, and also because the stiching on the one I wear most got snagged and now I have a piece of string hanging about 4 inches that I don't want to cut! The down is shifting there, but then I hear Patagonia will mend it for you.
Pros: Performance, Ease of useGreat Buy!
January 31, 2011
I love this jacket. I live in San Diego where it gets chilly enough to need a warm jacket. This one fits perfectly - I bought a medium and it has enough room (but not a lot) to wear over a heavy sweater. I thought I might need a small because some of the reviews said it runs large but I find that it's true to size. (I'm 5'7', 133 lbs and size 8) It's lightweight and the purple color (with lavender lining) is gorgeous. I rolled the sleeves a little to show the lavender. I plan to pack it in my suitcase for at trip to Lake Tahoe at the end of the month. It packs easily (you could roll it up) and will be great on long airplane flights when it gets chilly. It's really perfect for almost any trip if you need a lightweight warm sweater.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Ease of use, Great valueI use it all the time
December 03, 2012
Loved this 'sweater' just don't get white
April 13, 2013
I really loved this jacket, it fits well in a medium (I'm 5,3' 130 lbs). Very light weight, yet warm. My only complaint is with the white you can see the feathers thru the fabric--very obvious. I ended up returning it for black. Perfect jacket for all season, high recommend--except for the white! :)

Light, soft, & warm

So comfortable. Fantastic for travel-folds down very small. Very light and regulates temperature well. Sleeves are long (similar to other Patagonia jackets), they fold under easily.
Pros: Performance, Ease of useThe Perfect Winter Coat
February 05, 2011
This is the perfect jacket for me. I have been on the market for a down jacket for the past 3 years and, in that time, have bought 4 of them on line and returned each one, with none of them meeting my expectations or, therefore, being quite worth the investment to me. All along, I suspected that The Patagonia Down Jacket was the one for me but was unwilling to pay the full price for it but finally, I just made the investment-- and that’s what it is— and a very wise investment indeed. This is a jacket that will last me my whole life, and I have no qualms or reservations about the fact that it is PERFECT. I received the jacket over a month ago and have hardly been able to bring myself to take it off when I go to bed at night. It leaks the occasional feather, but I've yet to meet a down jacket that does not. I am 5’2” and wear an XS. It’s fit is slim and quite flattering, and yet it offers a truly surprising amount of layering space (I am continually amazed at the layers that I can fit under such a slim looking jacket and somehow keep it looking slim). Of course, the most incredible aspect of this jacket is its warmth to weight ratio, which means that I rarely need any layers at all. I am not sure what law of physics they broke in designing this jacket, but I do know that I, who have always been cold when others are not, am loving winter for the first time in my life. I no longer even hesitate before going outside on a February night to get firewood—I no longer have the fear of being cold—and all thanks to this jacket which can fit easily inside my bag.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use, easily layer-ableVery pleased!
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Great valueVery Satisfied
January 11, 2012
This is a perfect light weight down jacket that provides excellent warmth without being bulky. It layers well underneath a shell or can be worn as a solo outer layer. I'm 5'6" and weigh 135lb, and the small was a perfect fit. I never want to take it off!
Pros: Build quality, Ease of use, Cons: CostPerfect Ski Layer
July 03, 2011
Love, love, love the down sweater. In my fantasy winter universe, I would own several in different colors, one with a hood. They keep me toasty warm when it's very cold and yet vent well when unzipped if the sun comes out. Looking forward to the new colors for the 11/12 ski season!

LOVE Patagonia Down Sweater
February 15, 2013
I love this jacket! Perfect for a day on the mountain or around town. I have worn this jacket on 20 degree days and on 50 degree days and I am very comfortable. I wear it skiing on bluebird days and it is perfect! It is more fitted with a more feminine look. I get so many complements about the great color also!

Fabulous
December 02, 2011
I absolutely love this jacket, it is warm, comfortable and attractive. I have bought each of my daughters one and they also love it. It is light weight and keeps you warm and looks great. I would love to have one in every color!
Pros: Great design, Performance, Great valueGreat coat
March 06, 2011
I did a lot of research prior to purchasing this coat, and I'm really pleased with my decision. The coat has a nice, tailored fit - it's not too bulky so it looks nice while still being very warm. It's lighter weight and comfortable, so it's not the warmest coat out there, but it's very easy to add layers underneath. It's also extremely packable, so if necessary, you can stuff it in your purse. It's also quite comfortable in a range of temperatures, so it's easy to wear and keep on even when I head inside.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Ease of useWonderful Coat!
February 22, 2013
I purchased this jacket after my husband bought a men's XL and loved it. I am 5'8", 157 lbs and ordered the Women's Large. It fits my arm length perfect and gives me a little room around the waist to wear a sweatshirt or sweater underneath. I didn't purchase the Medium because some reviews said this jacket has a more tailored fit. I find it to be just right for me as I like a little room to wear a thicker layer underneath. I can't comment about being waterproof as I just have not worn it in the rain as of yet however I did wear it outside on a chillier 40 degree day and was quite toasty in it! I would definitely recommend this product especially at the sale price I got. I bought the green color and love it!
Pleased customer
February 18, 2011
This coat "sweater" is exactly what I was looking for and the description was very accurate. So feather weight that my husband thought the package was a skein of yarn I had ordered!! The coat is very warm and was put to the test the first night I wore it....stood up to high winds off the lake in Michigan. As in the reviews I read before, the sleeves are plenty long for me, but not bothersome. I have also received several positive comments from friends and family on the appearance. I would definitely recommend this product. Also, this is my first Patagonia purchase.....always bought for my children and they wore like iron, but never made the investment for myself. Soooooooooo glad I did!
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of use, Cons: sleeves longGreat weight and color
January 15, 2013
Love the color (silver gray), construction and warmth of this down jacket. My only complaints have to do with cut/sizing. It seems a bit tight in the hips (limiting what I can wear beneath) but bulky through the shoulders. It could have benefitted from being tailored there.
Pros: Performance, Great value, Cons: Bad designThe Perfect Gift!
December 01, 2011
I bought this as a gift and she loves it! ItÂ’s soft and incredibly warm for the minimal weight. The fit is true to size and it looks great. This one is purple and she gets compliments almost every time she wears it. ItÂ’s great to wear inside at home or around the office on chilly days. And itÂ’s a stand-alone jacket outside into the 30Â’s. When itÂ’s really cold or wet then it makes a nice layering piece under a more weatherproof jacket. Down isnÂ’t warm when itÂ’s wet, and this jacket isnÂ’t designed to be worn in extended wet conditions. ItÂ’s high quality, well designed, and makes the perfect gift! What girl wouldnÂ’t like to have one of these?

Classy Winter Jacket
March 03, 2013
I bought this for my wife it is one of several she owns. It is made of the same great Patagonia quality as all of their stuff. Very nice fit but for a small the sleeves could be a bit shorter. Purchase this in the new spring rubellite color and its really pretty.
Pros: Build quality, Performancenot flattering
January 30, 2012
I purchased this sweater, as well as the Patagonia hi loft down sweater, and I sent this one back. The fit is quite boxy and loose. It's not flattering at all. On the other hand, the hi loft sweater is awesome! It fits close to the body and is super cute on. Buy the hi loft version!

Don't know why it's called a sweater - mine is purple and red zippers. Everyone is commenting how great it looks on me and where I bought it -- I told them. Thanks.

November 25, 2012
love this jacket not for style, but for warmth. Great for the fall and winter because its lightweight but also incredibly warm! The only con would be that the style isnt the most fashionable, but that would be the only con. Other than that, it is a great purchase. Not very affordable, but nowadays winter jackets are not cheap.
Pros: Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Cons: Bad designso soft and warm
August 06, 2012
the jacket is a great fit, "M" or size 10. It is so soft and warm. It folds down, so small to pack. The colour is true to that on the Altrec site. Pockets are easy to use and are so warm

Super warm and lightweight!
March 14, 2011
I bought the down sweater jacket to wear under my ski shell on really cold days. I couldn't believe how warm it kept me--and I am always freezing! I also slip on the jacket just to head outside, and it's cozy like a blanket, but incredible light. I returned the small for an extra-small, forgetting Patagonia runs big (at least in my experience). I'm 5'3"/115 lbs. It's still not a terrible snug fit, but that's great if you want to wear a couple of layers underneath. I want to buy the hooded version next, because I can imagine how warm that would keep me on windy days. The jacket was surprisingly water-repellent, too, although I wasn't hanging out in the wet snow for that long. Fast-drying, I spot-cleaned a stain, stuck it in the dryer with clean tennis balls for 10 minutes, and was good to go! The cinch-cord on the bottom only tightens on one side; therefore, I have to remember to un-cinch it when I'm done skiing so I'm not walking around with a lopsided hem. No big deal--especially if you don't care about having the jacket wind-tight.

runs a bit short
September 19, 2011
LOVE this jacket & cant wait until it gets cold. Nothing wears like Patagonia & their colors are terrific this season, (especially the pink :) I bought this in a small because I usually wear a small in Patagonia...however, I found it quite short! (I am 5'7", 125lbs, if that helps). No matter how warm the jacket is, no one wants a cold belly, right? So I returned for a med which seems a bit roomy in shoulders/chest, but the length is much better. (BTW, when I called Patagonia to ask for size comparison to another jacket I own, I was told that this jacket is specifically cut a bit short because it is designed to wear under a shell which would attach to their ski pants. If longer, the "sweater would get in the way. Seems to make sense).
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use, Great valueQuality Product
October 12, 2011
I am about 5'6 125 pounds, and the medium fits perfectly. The fit is very flattering. The jacket is very light in weight, however is extremely warm once you put it on. I ordered the prickly pear and absolutely love the color! I could not be more satisfied with this jacket, and I am excited to wear it throughout the winter. There is nothing so far that I have found to dislike about this jacket. It is well worth the money and you get more than what you pay for.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, PerformanceFabulous jacket!
April 02, 2012
I love this jacket! It is lightweight but warm and it packs up very small into its own pocket. As with everything Patagonia makes it is beautifully made and the fit is comfortable but also flattering. I always take it traveling (even packed it for Mexico this winter!) and it is just perfect to take the chill off in cool weather. For such a light weight garment it is surprisingly warm and toasty. I'm already worried that the style will disappear and thinking of getting a back-up. Don't hesitate. it's wonderful!
