Very cozy jacket
I purchased this jacket as a gift for my mommy, her birthday coming
up. She is tall and this jacket length is great. It is warm and very light. This jacket is well constructed and has soft fabric.

Thinner than I expected
This jacket is cozy but much thinner than I expected. Also, the in the white, you can see the pockets through the front. I will keep it anyway though and use it more like a sweater.

flimsy for the price
I expected a bit more from this jacket given the hefty price tag, and I got mine on sale! It is very thin, and seemed flimsy. Maybe something I would wear around the house or under my snowboarding jacket, but I did not think it was worth the price. Definitely not if you pay full price!

Great little jacket
This jacket is a nice lightweight fleece jacket. The sizing is true to size. There are nice roomy inside pockets as well as zippered outside pockets. The jacket is not very thick and does not provide much protection from wind or cold. It's a light jacket for those chilly fall nights.

Too blue
The fabric and comfort of the jacket were great. But I really thought the jacket would be much more gray than blue; therefore, I was disappointed in that.

Great layering piece
This is my fourth el cap jacket over the years; i guess that speaks to it's quality. It is a versatile piece. I use it in fall & spring as a jacket & in winter a a mid-layer. It is warm without bulk so flattering to the figure. I also love the adequate sleeve length for someone who is 5'8". My only wish is this jacket had zippered pockets. I think it's a great piece.

Love the product, it is nice and light, perfect for hiking. This product is also great for layering during ski season. Also found that the size chart provided was accurate. Lastly, the material is really soft and comfortable.

disappointed
This fleece was much shorter than expected. It also doesn't have the "jacket" feel most other fleeces do. Not impressed, and got the Salathe North Face instead.

Perfect Fall jacket
This jacket is very soft, has a flattering fit and is great for cool weather. It's also thin enough that you can use it for layering in the winter. The only issue is that it tends to pill after washing.

el cap is perfect jacket
I LOVE this jacket. It is perfect! I would like to own it in several colors as it is the jacket I always reach for. The fit is incomparable to other fleeces I have worn....it is feminine and has nice style, there is a bit of a curve at the waist and the hem hits right at hemline...I am long waisted and tall so have had trouble before with some more feminine styled outerwear either sitting too high at waist or not having enough coverage through the shoulders but this is perfect for my curvy but athletic frame. It comes in some beautiful colors unlike a lot of other fleece jackets which are more basic. It can be worn anywhere and provides that extra layer of warmth for a spring, summer evening or morning or fall hike or just a lightweight jacket in a cool house. It is not meant to be waterproof of course but is a warm alternative when damp so it is a really good choice for any camping or hiking trip.
The only thing I can criticize is that it will pill and thin and become rougher eventually through repeated washings....I cannot complain as I have worn mine round the clock for a year now so I have certainly gotten my wear out of it! I find either low heat drying or air drying keeps the jacket fluffy and pill free longer.

Amazing Fleece
I bought this one for my girlfriend's birthday. It came just on time. She wore the fleece whole winter. She loves it. She said that it is warm and comfortable and that she like it much more than The North Face fleeces that she has.

Go-to fleece for everyday wear
I have the El Cap in several colors and wear one just about every day the weather requires a long-sleeved layer, inside or out. It's so soft, cozy, and attractive, and it layers well. The only problem is, I now have a bunch of sweaters in my closet I no longer wear because none are as comfortable as this fleece!
At 5'2" and 118#, the small fits perfectly, except for the arms, which are a bit long (but my arms are relatively short). Turing up the cuff does the trick.

My new favorite fleece!
I expected a lot from this fleece, being from Patagonia, and my expectations were exceeded!! The fit is perfect, and it's so so soft!! There's even a special liner in the pockets to keep your hands warm.
I bought this for an upcoming backpacking trip, but I haven't been able to stop wearing it...around the house, to yoga class, walking the dog...pretty much everywhere!
It's definitely worth every penny. I hope they get new colors so I can buy anothe one!

Perfect Lightweight Jacket
This is the perfect lightweight fleece jacket! Patagonia always has great quality products, this jacket included! I live in Arkansas, so it's great for our somewhat mild fall and winter seasons; I can wear it about 8 months out of the year, from windy spring days, to cool fall afternoons, to those chilly winter days..
I'm about 5 ft 4, and find that it also fits true to size (for me anyway!). I would definitely recommend this jacket to anyone, especially for the price!

Comfort
I love this little jacket. I can just throw it on then go. When the weather is colder I can just layer it and is not bulky. Look a little more upscale with the trim. Love the trim, I just hope it last.

Fantastic Fleece!
I love the comfort of this fleece. It is lightweight yet delivers the warmth of a much thicker fleece. It was great for layering for xc skiing. The wicking feature is excellent! It also looks good and provides enough warmth when running around town to meet friends or just run errands! I am 5' 2" and 105 lbs. and the "regular fit" is quite loose around my torso. Next time I'll try the slim or formfitting style. Great value overall both price and quality!

great light weight fleece layer
I bought this jacket to wear on the weekends as a sweater in the cold NJ winters, or as a light weight jacket during fall and spring. I live in the suburbs. Lets be clear- I'm not climbing Mt Everest or doing anything like what you see in the Patagonia catalogs. The most strenuous thing I do is carry groceries in from the car.
I ordered the brown color. It is a rich dark brown; makes me think of dark chocolate. The fit is great. I ordered XS (I'm 5" 4 1/5" and weigh about 118) and it skims nicely. It gives me a feminine shape and is not too bulky. Definitely room for 1-2 layers (long sleeve T shirt plus tank or T) underneath. The jacket ends around mid hip on the front, and a little lower on the back. It feels nice on the skin, soft and warm.
I noted a lot of fuzz coming off of it when I first got it. Seems to have resolved after a washing.
Overall great little fleece. Shapely warmth without too much bulk. What more could you ask for?

Cozy jacket, but broad in the shoulders.
I bought jacket in natural when it was on sale. Like the other reviewers said, it is a little transparent, but to me it's not a problem at all. It's a great color and looks wonderful paired with the right shirt underneath. It's not extremely warm, but perfect for a cool day. I can see that there might be some pilling in the future, which seems to be the norm with fleece. My only complaint is that it's a little too broad in the shoulders. My normal size in Patagonia is small but I wished I would have ordered the extra small in this.

Beluga is a Whale of a beautiful color
This fleece is akin to a lightweight sweater. The ribbon trim makes is a step up from anything else called a fleece. As a layer anytime of the year it's great. I can't wait to wear it to the yacht club this summer!

great purchase
Great quality-my only complaint is that the sleeves could be longer. I love the color and the black does not fade after washing. Plus keeps me very warm and is not bulky.

Everyday favorite
Love this to throw on for everyday winter wear. Keeps you warm and cozy, and is very comfortable. The fit is very true to size - not too form fitting and not baggy and loose - just right! Haven't had it long enough to test longevity, but based on Patagonia quality, don't have any immediate concerns. Looks great after first few washes.
Got this fleece on sale at Altrec- outstanding deal compared to retail price.

Love the El Cap fleece
Have enjoyed the El Cap fleece jackets for years. It is a comfty casual fleece that has a feminine fit, but is not form fitting. Great looking in new jewel tone colors. Can wear it year round under a vest/jacket or over a tee. It's warm, soft, not water proof but a little water resistance if caught in a drizzle. Packs well for travel and washes well too. Love it.

brown looks washed out
Ordered brown and looked worn/washed out when it arrived. 5'8" and 130 lbs and small fits athletic build. I kept it, but would not order again because of color. Warm and comfortable

Repeat
I love the El Cap Jacket. This is my second el cap jacket and I was happy to find it at Altrec at a better price than the one I purchased last year. This jacket is comfortable, the right weight of fleece for warmth over a "T" inside or for layering under a jacket. This years's version has a little satin trim which is not necessary but does dress it up a little. I wear a 10-12 and bought the large which is just great.

All purpose / All weather + cute, too
This jacket is exactly what i wanted for the mercurial but mostly cold & damp San Francisco weather . The color brightens up my mood every time i wear it. This is my first Patagonia jacket and i have to say its worth the premium cost - i've washed my jacket quite a few times & it hasnt faded or pilled.

Very good with one exception...
Love the jacket...I bought the Wildflower, a purple color, and it goes great with a variety of my clothes...the Small is sized to fit me well, with a layer underneath or not...if I'm going to be in the wind, I wear something under the jacket to compensate, as it's not particularly windproof...the one exception is that small balls of fleece come off if the jacket rubs against something, like my purse or a canvas bag worn over my shoulder. Despite the exception, I still love the jacket...it's cozy and a great fall jacket

Expect more from Patagonia
I normally love Patagonia's gear for the high quality since I spend a lot of time in the Mountains, but this fleece didn't quite meet my expectations because it is very thin, and looks more like something to layer underneath a different jacket. For this purpose the fleece will be great, but I was expecting something a little more hearty. However it was the least pricy item from Patagonia, which is probably why it is so light.

Great lightweight fleece!
I wanted a lighter weight fleece to wear on an upcoming trip to Europe. The El Cap is perfect. Love the Greenlake color too-looks great with my blonde hair/blue eyes!

Great fleece- comfortable and fashionable

El Cap rocks!
This is a super comfortable, very versatile piece from one of my favorite companies. Other reviewers said it was flattering and it definitely is, falling just around the hips! I ended up buying another in a different color because you can wear this piece in so many ways. Light jacket, sweater, perfect traveling companion, and with the famous durability of Patagonia. Great staple that I'll look forward to in more colors.

I like the finished edging and the fit. It is very complementary to the figure. I wear it is the house and out as a jacket in the 35 degree weather.

very cool basic
I bought the new version of the El Cap jacket in black- it is fantastic! I usually wear a size M for all things Patagonia and this jacket is no exception. It fits well while still allowing for a warmer layer underneath, and the satin trim gives a nice touch. It is also very lightweight and stores away easily while traveling which is a plus. A great, versatile layer on its own or underneath a waterproof jacket! I would definitely recommend it.
