Not a warm jacket
January 09, 2013
I like the style and fit of the jacket, but it is not as warm as it should be. For the first time in many years I left the slopes because I was cold, and it wasn't a very cold day outside. I wear the same layers that I did under my previous North Face jacket, but it can't compare for warmth. I will go back to wearing my old worn out jacket. For the price of this jacket I am extremely disappointed.
Pros: Great design, Cons: Cost, Low performance, not warmDid you recently buy the Patagonia Insulated Powder Bowl Jacket? Write a review.
TOO Short

arms were correct length, jacket way too short when is Patagonia going to make a jacket that hits at your bottom. For the price the fit was just too weird

This is a great technical jacket. The cost is a bit high but it's technical features are great. It is long enough to cover the back side.

excellent ski coat
January 23, 2012
I saw this coat online and just had to have it based on the color alone. Then I got it and I cant tell you my favorite thing about it because there's so many. Its very warm and comfortable. The turquoise color is awesome. I haven't tested it in extreme conditions but its looks like it will repel water and snow all day long. Sleeves are a little long but have velcro so you can tighten them up at the wrists and they aren't so long.
Pros: Build quality, Performance, Ease of use, Cons: Costgo for it

Have shopped for 2 yrs for ski jacket and decided that for the cost the jacket should have other use so i chose to go with insulated shell. Its weight/bulk profile is very good. The tall collar takes some getting used to and breaking in but provides both warmth and protection from sun and wind. Sleeves run long and when tightened around my wrists the tabs are too long. Non bulky insulation is great and if super cold, I put on down sweater. Also had warm day with just polypropelene underneath and worked well because pit zips really allow air to flow in. I got classic red so that it would not over heat in sunny day and red is always in. I will also use around town for cold rainy days when I need more warmth then rain coat and light gortex shell provide, and I will not look like i am wearing a "ski jacket" Pockets are good but exterior breast pocket lets my phone slip too low to be comfortable, so i use for ipod, sunscreen and chap stick. Inside pockets great.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, can wear around town, Cons: wrist tabs too bigWrite a review for the Patagonia Insulated Powder Bowl Jacket here.
Great snowboarding jacket
February 22, 2012
This is my first Patagonia buy. I was debating purchasing this jacket because of the price, but I have been pleasantly surprised with its quality and I love it! I have used the jacket now four times in the Sierras. I am 5' 4", and the small is a perfect fit. The sleeve length is nice and long, and the overall length is comfortable, even for a snowboarder. It does hit at the waist, but the cut is feminine, and very flattering and streamlined. The powder skirt attaches to my snowboard pants, which is a huge plus! I have used it in 40 degree and wet, below freezing temps and windy, and in barely above freezing and sunny weather. It is waterproof and breathable. Layering with Hot Chillys is perfect! The sleeve pocket is great for my season pass and there are many inside and hidden pockets for id, phone, and snacks. The hood is great, and I like how high it zips. Wonderful jacket, and I will be purchasing more from Patagonia.
