Great Jacket, Excellent Quality!
January 06, 2012

I had to return this jacket because it was not what I was looking for however I do highly recommend it for other uses. I was looking for a jacket to ski in that would keep me warm when the late season storms hit and dry when the snow is wet. The H2No waterproof and breathable exterior and Nano Puff PrimaLoft One insulation seemed like a logical option to meet both needs with one jacket. As expected from Patagonia it is a high quality, well made product. Especially at the sale price it is well worth the money. You absolutely get what you pay for. The problem I had was with movement. The midlayer sewn into the outerlayer makes for a single thick layer that is only somewhat flexible. I need more freedom of arm movement for skiing. So if you are looking for a jacket that does not require great flexibilty (like backpacking) this a great jacket. For movement I settled on the TorrentShell for an outerlayer and seperate Nano Puff midlayer.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Great value, Cons: Low performance

The best jacket I have ever purcahsed.
March 25, 2012

I have worn Five jackets from very famous brand for years and none of them made me happy. Too thin, no warmth, too slim, too short, too much warmth, and recent one has no durability. After years of experience, I finally decided to switch to Patagonia, and I was right!!! Despite of March, rain is expected next five days in San Francisco and today's rain was very very cold but I wore T-shirts and grabbed this jacket to go out in rain. Even this jacket is insulated, the weight is very light and doesn't make me sweat or no need to seek ventilation. I used to attach or wear extra fleece to keep warmth when I wear my previous jacket. I even wore double jackets to keep me warm when I went to Yosemite during winter. But I probably only need to have this jacket in SF and only need to add some inner for Yosemite. I finally found a perfect jacket suitable for Bay Area weather. I really like an adjustment loop (back of a hood) of a hood. The hood stays in my head very nicely and a visor help me to keep visibility. I have never thought about effectiveness of the hood for other jackets because it has never stayed on my head. But the weather was very very bad today, and I depended on this jacket more than an umbrella. Color is very nice. Strangers gave me a compliment about Magenta. Good size of Internal pockets. Able to avoid carrying extra stuff if free hands are desirable. 4"11 BMI 23.3. purchased XS. My upper arm often not fit with slim design clothing, but no need to worry about this jacket.

Highly recommended

Love the fit and ease of movement this jacket provides! I had sworn off althletic jackets because of the stiffness that are common in waterproofing the garment. Glad I gave it a second chance!

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Ease of use, Great value

Great Jacket
September 11, 2012

This is my perfect winter rain coat. It's very waterproof and wind proof, i've stayed very dry in heavy rains. it fits long on me but i've got a short torso so it might be a little short for a tall person. It's roomy enough to fit a couple layers underneath but doesnt look bulky. I'm 5'3" and 110lbs and wear an XS in this jacket but it could fit a little slimmer. it would be nice if Patagonia made a XXS for adults. Like another reviewer said, it doesnt allow for great flexibility so it's not great for skiing or climbing but great for backpacking.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use, Cons: Cost

All-Around Jacket
April 08, 2011

This jacket was a really smart purchase for our California coastal weather. It is very lightweight so great for travel, and also worked perfectly for East Coast Spring weather (rain, below 30 degrees). The quality is what one would expect from Patagonia; lots of attention to detail, intelligent design and excellent construction, which is, of course, reflected in the cost. But this is the jacket that can be worn on the West Coast 7 months out of the year, and with layering can even work in snow and really cold weather. Before I purchased the Nano Storm online I was honestly concerned that it might be just a glorified raincoat. I was happy to find out that instead it really is a proper everyday jacket, without the bulk, which provides mid-range warmth and can be easily packed away as the day heats up by the afternoon.

Warm and lightweight jacket
November 11, 2012

This is a highly recommended jacket for the ones who are looking for a lightweight and warm option. I bought this jacket for my mum and she has been looking for something which keep her warm all day long outdoor but not heavy weighted. The wind proofing and water proofing ability is great. Despite the price, other than that it's a great piece of product!

A well made jacket
March 28, 2012

I bought this jacket for my daughter. It is a very well made jacket. The design is nice as well. Normally she takes xs. But I bought size s for her, so she can wear a fleece jacket inside in colder weather. She looks great in size s. It doesn't look big on her when she does not wear the fleece jacket inside.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance

Nano Storm Rain Jacket
November 20, 2011

I loved this jacket, until I got one and did a test outside. I went outside on a windy, not quite rainy day, and I tested the nano storm jacket. When it's really raining, I realized that I wanted more protection then a short slim fitting rain jacket. While I had been looking for a warm rain jacket for a few years, and thought I had found one - I realized I preferred wearing my nano puff under my Marmot Precip jacket by far. The precip is a bit longer and very lightweight. Another thing I didn't like about the nano storm was the weight of the hood. It was quilted on the inside. I could feel the weight of it on my back, and didn't like it.

Pros: Build quality, Ease of use, fashionable look, Cons: quilted oversized hood, too short and skimpy for a "storm" jacket

Winter Rain Jacket
December 23, 2011

Wanted a rain jacket with enough insulation that I wouldn't need to layer for quick walks with our dogs. Jacket is really nice quality and outside material seems really durable. Also a lot thinner than wearing a middle layer and shell. A little pricey at full price but worth it if you can get on sale.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of use, Cons: Cost
