Women's Torrentshell Jacket
April 02, 2012
Hey, it's Patagonia! Great pocket features and armpit zips for cooling down. Takes the wind and rain like a champ! I now have 3 of these in various colors and wear them on the golf course for a light layer, walking in the evening, and in drizzling or hard rain. Excellent! You can't beat them!
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use, Great valueGreat Jacket!
December 01, 2011
This jacket is exactly as advertised. It's only a shell, so don't expect any warmth inside, but it's the perfect top layer with a fleece underneath. Waterproof, great hood, lots of pockets, sturdy zip and velcro to keep out the rain and the generously long sleeves are kept at bay with smart velcro cuff bands. Patagonia designers just get it, practical, attractive and functional!
Pros: Great design, Build quality, PerformanceMy wife wants another one
February 14, 2011
I bought this for my wife. She loves it and is looking for another one. Unfortunately Alrec does not have her size anymore. This jacket is so perfect that everybody wants to have two or three with different colors or the same favorite one for the long use or future replacement. Good for outdoor activities and daily use also. Patagonia now also caters people with thrifty mind. This is a good move!

Great Shell
October 16, 2011
This was the best fitting shell out of the other name brands I tried. It's a normal fit, not to fitted, not too baggy. Hits at the hip. It's light-weight and compressible so I always carry this in my pack. I put this on top of my fleece when I summitted Baldy and it really helped with the windchill. I find the wrist adjusters hard to use.
Pros: Build quality, PerformanceGreat rain protection
January 14, 2012
I purchased the Women's Torrentshell Jacket in fuscia. The color is great and it is fun to wear. I wear it running and find that it is both protective from the rain and the wind. The hood stayed in place and I like the little brim which helps keep the rain out of my eyes. The length is right at my hips which is just right and the sleeves are adjustable and are also the right length. The medium size fit works for me, but if you are wear a normal size greater than an 8, I suggest trying the next size. Overall, an excellent purchase.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of use, Great valueFantastic rain coat
July 23, 2011
Excellent rain coat for hiking, biking, and beach walks. Very water and wind-proof. Zipper and velcro fasteners are easy to use. Hood is compact, but flips up easily and fits nicely. Great product.
Pros: Great design, Build qualityWell made rain jacket
August 19, 2011
I researched and tried on a fair number of jackets before deciding on this one and I think I made the right choice. I was amazed at the quality and details of this jacket. It seems like they thought of everything from the hood that stores and also tightens when need in foul weather to the pit zips for those longer hikes. Love the colors and it has a nice flattering fit.

Many jackets are too much. This shell layers well with Guide Jacket underneath for skiing. Also great for rain jacket by itself.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Great valuethis is an awesome coat
July 16, 2011
Patagonia really thinks of everything. This jacket is so light weight, but it does the trick. The jacket gives enough room to wear a fleece underneath if it is cooler and it is light enough for a summer rain. I got the light green color and it was a bit brighter than I expected, but besides that everything is great.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Ease of useGood jacket
November 06, 2010
Good jacket for rainy conditions. Keeps my wife dry on her commute, but for hurricane conditions probably not quite enough
great! heavy duty!
September 22, 2011
this jacket is great! i wore it out and about on long island during hurricane irene and had no problems! it's lightweight and compact- great for travel (just dont crumple it up and stuff it in its own pocket- it gets realllly wrinkled!). and it seems to be very durable, i think that it will last a long time. i got a size medium so i could wear a hoody underneath, and its the perfect fit-im 5'4" and 140lbs. sleeves are a bit long, but id rather my hands be covered than it be too short! great jacket, the yellow is awesome, like a real rain slicker! i reccommend this product!
Pros: PerformanceGreat Value
September 13, 2011
Patagonia jackets last forever. This one is lightweight and very packable. Looks good and you can wear it anywhere. It could use a two way zipper for better movement.
Pros: Great design, Lasts forever, Cons: needs 2 way zipperRain Gear that Works!
August 04, 2011
This jacket fits great (I bought a M in order to layer underneath) and looks wonderful. The colors are beautiful and bright, and the jacket fits in my bag nicely but is heavy-duty enough to do the job..keep out the wind and rain. Once again, Patagonia excels!
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use, Great valueGreat Purchase
August 08, 2011
Bought this jacket after looking at many online. Read the reviews and decided it was the one for me. I wasn't disappointed. Great for travelling. Sleeves were nice and long which is usually a problem for me. True to size....just a little roomy which is perfect for wearing a fleece with it. Ended up buying the fleece as well. I would recommend this to all!

Awesome rain jacket
April 13, 2011
I commute by bike, and this is the perfect rain jacket to use throughout the year (in Northern California, any way). It's basically a simple waterproof shell, which is lightweight enough for warmer seasons, but with a relaxed fit to allow for layering in the winter. There are also side zips for ventilation on longer bike rides or on warmer days. I bought this jacket to replace another that was leaving me soaked through on rainy days, and I have not been disappointed. For one, the fabric really is waterproof. Also, the hood is adjustable from the back center and the front sides -- this means that it really can fit over a helmet or just over your head, yet still provide enough coverage to keep you dry, without slipping off in the wind. There are many thoughtful details in a jacket with such a tastefully simple design (e.g., the side zips, the inner mesh pocket, the drawcord hemline, the visor, the fact that it packs into its own pocket). Such a great buy!

Light and Dry
October 14, 2011
This raincoat has a flattering cut. It looks good even when you have a sweater under it. The hood adjust well around the face and the stiffened brim keeps rain out of my eyes. It's crinkly sounding when you move around but that is the case with most rain jackets. If you want a raincoat that is light, flattering and keeps you dry, the patagonia torrentshell fits the bill.

Great Deal for Price
February 07, 2012
Great raincoat for rainy, windy and damp days! The quality, insulation and design are wonderful, Would like to get this raincoat in another color! It does fit a little snug under arms, if you are going to wear something bulky like sweatshirt or sweater underneath. I usually wear a size small..I'm 5'6" and 119 lbs. I returned the small and got the medium and love it!
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Ease of use, Great valueMust Have
October 17, 2011
Big fan of Patagonia and with ever new purchase I become even more convinced of their dedication to quality. This jacket is great, comes in a wide selection of colors. Owned this now for close to six months and it been through it all. Holds up to all the elements...wind/rain coat that is very comfortable and breathable, absolutely worth every penny.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Great valueAlready own the Patagonia Torrentshell Jacket? Tell us your thoughts.
good protection for the price
February 02, 2012
This jacket comes in fun colors, is lightweight, packs easily, and offers great protection against the elements for the price. The cut is a bit big and boxy, so while there is room to layer, it's not the most flattering jacket in my closet. Order a size down if you're on the fence. It offers good decent protection from wind and rain, but it's not water tight in a torrential downpour. It's a good jacket for the price.
Pros: Build quality, Lasts forever, Ease of use, Great valueGem of a jacket
October 14, 2011
Canoeing on the Willamette in October is just asking to get soaked. I was kept insanely dry and warm during my 2 hour excursion with a group of 6th graders, who provided more water in the canoe due to their paddling skills (or lack there of!) then Mother Nature actually provided. The Torrentshell jacket runs true to size, the sleeves are a bit longer, but not worth the complaint of a bad review. Teamed up with the R3 Hi-Loft Hoody (shameless plug!) you can't go wrong for anything Fall/Winter (and Spring in Oregon) throws at you! Highly recommended.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Great value, love the yellow color more in person!Essential!
September 19, 2011
I originally purchased this as a bit of luxury for myself to wear while hiking but now that I own it, I realize that it really is an essential for anyone's wardrobe regardless of how many outdoor activities you do--I find myself wearing it all the time. It incredibly comfortable, lightweight & very waterproof! Great buy!
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use, Great valuedoesn't disappoint
September 06, 2011
The Patagonia Torrentshell jacket is exactly what I need when packing for our summit-hiking adventures. I love the fact that it is seam-sealed (very important if you want to stay dry) as well as the micro-fleece lined neck--so soft! I find it offers more face protection in the biting wind than other rain jackets I have used. I am 5'10" with long limbs and the Medium-size is a perfect torso length and sleeve length. Roomy enough to fit a fleece under when it gets cold. I hope to have this jacket for years...I don't think I'll be disappointed.

Bought this for my daughter
February 01, 2011
This is the second raincoat I've bought - they are awesome and very durable, comfortable and super nice looking. I bought the blue raincoat for my 16 year old daughter and it is perfect. Fits true to size and the color is very cool - I would recommend this product.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, PerformanceOctober 11, 2010
Love this jacket, fits me perfectly. I'm tall (5'10") with long arms and Patagonia jackets seem to give me enough length in the arms and torso. I ordered the Imperial Blue as it seemed to look like a muted blue-purple...but it is definately COBALT blue, which is very nice also...but I'll be exchanging for the black. I'll be taking this jacket to Bolivia in a couple of weeks and I'm sure it will be great layered with a fleece.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, PerformanceGood jacket

Pros: Performance, Great valueAnother great jacket from Patagonia
August 11, 2011
This jacked not only held up in a sustained rainstorm in the Sierra, it also completely blocked some 50 - 60 mph winds at higher elevation. Needless to say I am very happy with the jacket!

I love the jacket, awesome buy, very light, lots of useful pockets, good in variety of weather! Can be worn with layers underneath. Plan on using this jacket for spring, fall, and winter.
Pros: Build quality, Performance, Great valueFast shipping! Love the color-light blue!
March 23, 2010
Shipping is excellent, purchased my jacket on 3/18 and received it on 3/22- so 4 days of waiting including the weekend! The jacket runs large so get one size smaller then you would normally wear. The hoodie tucks away, so the jacket is excellent to wear in the rain or just hiking around.

Great Jacket from Patagonia!
April 15, 2011
I was really happy with my jacket. It was a little longer in the back than I expected but I am fine with that. I am 5'6 so I ordered a small which is a perfect fit. It is big enough for me to layer if I need to. The service at Altrec was great! I received my order very quickly.
Pros: Build quality, Performance, Ease of useI was the only one dry
March 02, 2012
I truly love this jacket. I just spent the entire day hiking in the rain with 30 mph winds and I was the only dry one in our eight person group. This jacket also breathes well and never feels hot or sticky. worth the extra $. Highly recommend!
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of use, Cons: CostIt's Ok
March 30, 2013
I know a lot of people like this product. And the jacket is not bad. I have used it in rain and light rain. While it works, I would recommend a different product. The jacket does not breathe, and feels very clamy. There are other brands that have lighter-weight jackets and offer more breathability. The jacket feels a bit stiff. I feel as if technology is developed to the point where rain jackets can offer more flexibility of fabric than this one. I am 5'3" and 125lbs and where an XS.
Cons: Low performanceawesome jacket
September 06, 2011
pategonia knows how to make a jacket. They also know style. This jacket is perfect, from the cut to color (I got the rhubarb). I wore it while in the cool and breezy Mendocino headlands. It sure made hiking much more comfortable. I highly recommend this jacket for all outdoor activities, rain or shine.
SUPER Jacket
December 16, 2010
This is a wonderful waterproof jacket. Staying true to the quality that Patagonia always produces. The color is fabulous. It will keep me dry for many days to come. I am glad I choose this rain shell. As always, Altrec is SUPER SONIC fast on shipping.

Price is consistent with the quality. I purchased a medium (my usual size) felt like I was swimming in it. I also found it to be too noisy when walking. Against bare skin, it felt too rough, felt like I was wearing hard plastic. I never wore it it because it looked aweful on me. I will likely exchange it for a more stylish, probably more expensive jacket.
Pros: good value, Cons: Bad design, Poor qualityGreat Reviews

Actually bought 3 of these for my (college) daughter and a couple of her friends....they love them!! They are well built and withstand the busy life of college students.

August 12, 2011
Now all I have to do is pray for rainy days! I love the rain, so this jacket is a must-have and my first real rain coat. It does wonders in protecting against rain and window and works excellent as a shell. Patagonia has done an excellent job with their products, and this great-fitting jacket is no exception!

I really liked the Acai Coat but I ordered a Large and it was a little too big for me. But now they are out of the Acai in a medium so I am going to order a diff color. But very good coat.
Pros: Great design, Lasts forever, Performance, Great value, good color varietyOctober 05, 2010
Product exceeded my expectations. Nothing better than having a dependable rain jacket.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use, Great valueGreat rain jacket

I got this to replace an old north face rain jacket that is no longer waterproof. I am not crazy about the color (storm) but plan on exchanging for a brighter color. It fits a little big (can fit a fleece underneath) but seems like it will hold up well in the rain.
Pros: Build quality, Performance, Cons: boxy fitI like that it folds back into a small zipped pocket.

Continue to offer purple colored products. I have lots of gear, but always room for another purple item.
great fit, love the color!
August 11, 2010
I found this jacket fit true to size. I ordered my usual XS and it fit great. I can probably still layer a hoodie or fleece underneath without it being TOO snug. I've already received so many compliments on the color, too(Imperial Blue)!
