Urban, feminine style and proven technical fabrics give the Patagonia Torrentshell Trench Coat for women its unflappable demeanor.

This waterproof trench coat is fully up to spec to thwart the hardest wind and rain with all the trappings of an urban rain coat ready to handle the streets of New York. Patagonia uses 2.5-layer nylon ripstop fabric with their proven waterproof and breathable H2No® barrier. The Deluge® durable water repellent finish simply enhances the jackets performance in the rain. Inside, the textured fabric manages climate control by increasing air movement and breathability. Best of all, the Torrentshell Trench Coat is lightweight and highly compressible thanks to the 2.5-layer fabric, so it packs easily into your purse or day bag for convenient portability. It's virtually half the weight of similar coats that use linings. The finer details include a full-length front placket with 2-way zipper and storm flap plus an adjustable, removable hood for full storm protection. Princess seams front and back emphasize a feminine silhouette, while articulated elbows facilitate a natural look and feel. Patagonia provides plenty of pockets including two front with snap closure and a zippered mesh pocket inside. Recyclable through the Common Threads Recycling Program.

The photo suggests and the name implies that this coat would have a generous fit. I purchased it for a woman who is tall and thin. Even in size medium, the wasp-waisted cut made adding anything heavier than a light sweater impossible. The patch pockets look cheap and of limited utility.

Women's torrentshell trench coat
November 25, 2011

Tailored fit, slimming appearnce. Color storm is bluish-gray, very attractive. I am 5' 4" and bought a large. I never worn it in a torrential downpour so can't attest to water/wind protection. It is very lightweight and packs well.

Pros: Great design, Build quality

I purchased this jacket as a gift for my mommy. The jacket is well constructed and has soft fabric. It is warm and yet very light. My mommy is tall and this jacket length is great.

Very nice jacket, but not what I expected. More of a rain jacket, wind breaker.

Pros: Build quality
