Great fit and style
April 23, 2010

Overall, a great pair of shorts to wear in and out of the water. I wish the rise would be maybe a half an inch higher, but it's not a huge deal. Dries quick, and I love the Fusion Sunset print!

Cute Shorts!
April 10, 2011

I love these shorts! They are so cute and comfy - wear them all the time, not just for swim/after swim. I disagree with other reviews that they run small. I think they are true to size. I normally wear about a 2 and got the 4. I kept them - they are comfy - but really a bit big in the waist. I do want a pair in another print and think I'll go down to the 2.

Great quality shorts, true to size.
June 18, 2012

I ordered these shorts but am returning due to them not having a mesh liner as the description states. Cute, excellent quality shorts, just not what I was looking for. Normally wear a "6" 5'5" 122lbs. ordered an 8 due to other reviews, should have stuck with a 6. Waist on 8 was very big/loose.

Grows in Water
December 28, 2010

I found these shorts to be a good fit when dry, albeit a bit large for me still. (Me = 5'8" and 165 lbs, purchased size 12). However they grew much larger when they got wet and would likely not stay on during activities such as wakeboarding. They do fine for passive hot tub sits. If I bought them a second time, I would purchase a size 10.

I wanted to love them!
June 09, 2011

I really hoped these board shorts would work for me, but unfortunately, as a few other people pointed out, the sizing doesn't really work for the hourglass shape. I usually take a size 6 (5'2" 130) but ordered up a size based on other reviews. The waist was too big while the rest seemed to fit pretty well, but not over flattering. I'm not giving them a bad review because they are definitely stylish and made well, but if your short with a little meat on your, ahem, lower half they really aren't the best fit.

Super Cute shorts
July 07, 2010

I have the Ravel Aquarium print. Great colors and pattern. Its teal & aqua (more green than blue). I'm between a size 4 and 6, so after reading the other reviews I went with the 6 and they fit perfectly! The style is flattering and they wash well.

order 2 sizes larger
February 02, 2011

great shorts but run VERY small. led to having to return 2 times to get the right size, would order 2 sizes larger than usual size. I am 5'7 150# wear a size 10 consistently. Needed a size 14 - my friend who I surf with as well needed 2 sizes above her size . The colors are great as is the workmanship. Unusual that a brand name product such as patagonia would be so off on size.

Boardies
July 19, 2011

Great fit - they aren't made for little girls (problems I have had with other board shorts). They do run a little small _ I wear a 6 or an 8, am more athletic shape than curvy but I got these in a 10 and they are great. Low rise but not too low.

Great board shorts
July 06, 2011

As usual, a tad big on the waist for me, but overall the fit is true to size. I'm 5'-5" 120 lbs athletic build, and the 4 fit well. I don't know why board shorts are so pricey, but I'll pay it for Patagonia quality (tried on some cheaper chain store brands and the fit and fabric were awful for not much less money). The fabric on these is thicker than on the Patagonia Meridian board shorts (which I also bought) haven't tried either out yet, but happy with quality and fit.

Cons: Cost

Were Small for a Size 4
April 30, 2010

Great fabric and style. The fit was more snug than other Patagonia size 4 shorts. The rise was also lower than other Wavefarer styles.

Patagonia strikes again...
July 26, 2011

LOVE these shorts. If you're usually a medium in Patagonia and are on the small side, go with a 6 instead of an 8. I bought them for kayaking (and other things). They're perfect for protecting my hips from chaffing against the hip pads. They're also super comfortable & the low rise fits like shorts should on we athletic women. ;)

Great board shorts
July 22, 2010

I love these short, great length (not too short), but I had to go up a size. They are a full size smaller than the Meridian board shorts.

the best board shorts by patagonia so far for Women!
July 11, 2010

Great contoured fit around the waist, really good length in the inseam. They give you good coverage and stay on really well in the water. Runs a little small recommend ordering one size up.

Good lookin but runs small!
March 17, 2011

Great fitting shorts but just be ware of the sizes. I find Patagonia merchandise runs small in the base case so once I went 2 sizes up from normal pant size they were a great fit. The pockets and lacing looks awesome!

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Great value

Awesome shorts once you figure out your size!
May 26, 2010

I love the Raval:Aquarium print and was super excited to receive these in the mail. I heeded advice both here and on the Patagonia website and ordered up one size from my normal 8 in Patagonia bottoms. Unfortunately, the 10s fit, but were still a little more bum-hugging than I feel comfortable in, thus I am having to return this pair and go up yet another size, which I hope will work better. Overall, a really cute pair of shorts that I am hoping will work out! By the way, I am 5'8 and 140 lbs.

Cute but too small
January 24, 2014

These shorts were cute and I was looking forward to wearing them in Florida next week, so when they arrived I rushed to try them on. I wear a size 4 in most clothing brands and a size 6 in others. I am definitely shaped like a woman - with hips and curves. Other reviews said that these shorts ran small, so I ordered a 6. I couldn't even get them past my thighs! I could probably have fit in a 10 - but then the waist would have been too big. These shorts are made to fit prepubescent boys.

I am 5'10" tall and a consistent size 8. I even ordered these at a 10 and they were way too small. I thought they looked well made and were very cute--just disappointed with the cut of the shorts

Awesome board shorts!
May 28, 2012

These are my absolute favs! They are not too short or too long and very comfy. I'd recommend sizing UP at least one size. They've been great on the beach and even out and about as casual shorts. I'm 5'9", 135 lbs and I normally wear a 6. I bought an 8 in these this year. (I also have last year's style in a different print and the 10 fit in those so I'd say from my experience that this year the sizing is better but still try a size larger than you would normally.) Enjoy!!

These shorts are awesome. Very comfortable and sit on the hips. My only complaint is the size fits small. I usually wear a 6, and while I can fit into the 6, they are very tight. Ordered an 8 and they are perfect. Love Patagonia products.

Patagonia Boardshorts tru to size
March 29, 2011

I ordered the Patagonia Wavefarer Boardshorts in Orchid and love them. The colors are just as they appear online and the fit is tru to size. I am a size 4 in everything and always order board shorts in one size bigger because I like the extra room for comfort. The size 6 fit perfectly although the shorts are a little shorter than I expected. As always, Patagonia is the highest quality and these shorts are no exception.

Consistently great product
February 26, 2011

Love these boardshorts. The fabric is a little stiff initially, but they soften up. The sizing is a little on the small side, but the print is fabulous and the styling is classic - not too short, not too long.

great shorts
October 08, 2011

Very comfortable, well made. Like the draw string front. Made for a woman's body (not a teenager's). Sits low on the waist. Recommend buying one size larger than your usual (I'm a size 8, bought these in a size 10). Comfortable when wet. Quick drying.

Pros: Great design, Great value
