Providing wind and water resistant protection in all kinds of inclement conditions, the Pearl Izumi Vagabond Jacket for Men is built with ELITE Barrier fabric and has a Direct-Vent back panel for great ventilation. When the temperature rise, the Vagabond Jacket quickly converts to a vest and the convenient one-piece sleeve design stows easily in the back zippered pocket. Ideal for cycling when you don’t know what the weather has in store; the Vagabond cycling jacket has you covered.

Excellent wind protection, and with the ability to use as a vest, makes it a great garment for riding all year in cool to cold weather. Order next larger size for correct fit in that it is sized small. Highly recommended.
Orlando Capulong - 2008-10-30Great windbreaker, worth every penny
Fit: Vagabond II fits very well on average/slender person. Size medium is perfect at shoulders, enough room around torso (unlike the Zephrr jacket which is too tight around torso), and allows for layering. No parachute effect yet not too tight.
Comfort: Soft material, comfortable to wear on off-road trails in Long Island during fall season (40-60F). Have not tried it as a vest.
Appearance: Understated yet technical and stylish at the same time.
Performance: Breaks wind chills effectively, have not ridden in rain, movement is not restricted. (Note: This is a shell for breaking wind & rain, not for warmth.)
Price: Best price for a Vagabond II ('08) around.
Best Use: Fall (or spring) temp between 40-60F to reduce heat loss from wind. Use as outer shell on top of layers. Vest could possibly be used on warmer days when it's breezy.

I really like the versatility of this jacket. It seems somewhat breathable but blocks the wind quite well. It fits perfectly...just enough room for a bit of layering, but still streamlined enough to get you though those headwinds. I'd buy it again and certainly recommend it to friends.

A friend recommended this type of shell. I was skeptical when I first saw it. It is so thin. I tried it and love it. It fits well enough that there is no flapping in the wind yet has ample room for layering and ease of movement. I've used it at temps from 44-58 degrees with different layers. It really keeps the wind out. Anything heavier would not have the versatility that this does since you can alter the layers and use it all year round. That's very good value.

Love this jacket. What more can you ask for, a vest and a jacket. Get hot, remove sleeves. Yellow allows drivers to see you. Would recommend it to anyone. Good price for what you get. Why buy 2 items, when you can have it all in one package.

This jacket replaces a similar 10-15 year old PI bike jacket which finally had to be replaced. Like the old jacket, the sleeves zip off to convert to a vest - I like to partly unzip the sleeves to give more arm ventilation. The new vagabond has nicer details but lacks one feature I will miss and that is the ability to stuff it into its' rear pocket and strap it on as a "fanny pack". The old jacket wasn't that great in the rain - we'll see how the new one does.

I've had several Vagabond jackets, and I recently "tried on" the 2008 model at a local bike store. What I really liked about the new model: removable sleeves, ample pockets, adjustable waste, style and overall quality. What I don't like: the sleeves fit so tight that it’s impossible to slide the sleeves up for ventilation. The sleeves on my older Vagabond jacket are loose enough to slide the sleeves up as the temperature warms up. I also have a newer model that the sleeves cannot be slid up, which makes the jacket much less versatile.
