The kit has a phenomenal manual on different rescue/haul systems. I downloaded it first and studied, but then decided to buy the kit. The package is really minimalist's - very comprehensive, lightweight. The components can be used well beyond what's advertised. If you yet don't own a tibloc and a self-jamming pulley, buying the kit will save you $$. Once you learn how to use them, you wish you had had them earlier. As with other Petzl products (i.e. Gri-Gri), it takes time to learn how to properly use it. So, don't listen to others complaints on tibloc - when used properly and with the right biner, there'll be no rope damage.
