Engineered for climbing and mountaineering, Petzl's Ecrin Roc Helmet offers an array of side vents in the polycarbonate shell that can be plugged (plugs sold separately) for thermal comfort in icy winter conditions. The headband adjustment is so versatile that the helmet easily accommodates head circumferences ranging from 21 to 25 inches. Two foam headbands are included so you'll have no problem tailoring the Ecrin Roc for a perfect fit.
Climbing accident while wearing the Ecrin Roc Helmet
I recommend this helmet. Last summer I took about a 25 foot leader fall first hitting a foot, breaking two toes, which luckly flipped me over causing me to land directly on my head onto a large rock shelf, before bouncing and penduluming another 10 feet before coming to a stop. Compaired to everything else I hit on the way down, landing on my head while wearing the Ecrin Roc felt like I was falling into a pillow. I could actually feal the helmet absorb the shock. Afterwards when I visibly compaired it with my sons Ecrin the only sign of damage was that the internal webbing had stretched. I did not experience any of the light headedness nor neck soreness I did once when I was knocked out while logging with a hardhat on.
Great Helmet
Bought it for rock climbing but end up using it for mountaineering. Works well with a light hat or hood as well.
Rescue & Sport
I find Ecrin Roc a very good helmet! I use it both for rescue working with my Duo Led 5 lamp during my night ambulance duty and for climbing. Simply comfortable.

Awesome Helmet
The helmet is great. It is very comfortable, I actually forgot I was wearing it during the first climb I used it on. Its fully adjustable. You could probably get a good fit with any head size and hat combo you can throw at it. Plus the venting holes on the sides provide excellent ventilation. I'd recommend it to all.
Outstanding!
Great helmet. I don't do much recreational climbing, but it works splendidly for my job climbing communications towers. Very comfortable and a good fit. After a week of wear, you'll forget you have it on.
nice
great helmet for climbing, or in my place caving.
