Description

The mono or dual point Petzl M10 Leverlock Crampons are designed for difficult ice and mixed climbing. The front points are notched with hooking points, and a second row of teeth are inclined forward for a stabilized position. The first row of forward lateral points are inclined toward the rear for hooking, while small teeth distributed over the front stabilize the foot. Lateral points are inclined outwards for edge placements. Adaptable to suit different conditions or climbing styles, the M10's are supplied in double-point version, but can be converted to single-point crampons. The numerous adjustments of angle, position and length of front points, and position of toe bail will conform to your style and the route conditions. Built for durability, the front points are made of forged steel and are replaceable when worn out. Comes with the Leverlock binding, for boots with heel welts.

I have owned and used SMC Hinged on Leather and Koflach, FootFangs on Asolo AFS 101s and Merril WIlderness, the Darts, Sabretooth and Bionics on LaSPortiva Trango Extremes and Vasque M-Possible with the Bionics and M10. I climb Ice, Mixed and ALpine. The Darts had the poorest low angle traction and water ice penetration. The Sabertooth had the best antibot. The Sabertooth, Bionics and M10 have the best low angle traction. The Bionics and M10 have the best water ice penetration and mixed adherance. The M10 has the best adjustability. So far, I am very satisfied with the M10.

review of m10 leverlock crampons
November 02, 2008

The crampon performs exceptionally well. I've had them for two weeks and been able to do some snow, and waterfall ice with them. Duall points for snow, and mono for the ice. I recomend these for anybody who has a narrow boot, which is almost all ice specific boots nowdays. the reason is the toe bail does not stick out past the side of the boot, but wraps with the boot. this is very nice when kicking in confined spaces or when catching one crampon on the other would be fatal. from my testing black diamond, and grivel's toe bails are too wide for use with todays more anatomically fitting boots. feel free to e-mail me w/ ?s.
