I was hiking a trail in the back woods of Oklahoma with some young scouts. It got dark on us, and we had to finish the primitive hike in the night. I pulled out my Tikka and was able to see the trail markers on the trees as well as the trail. Very bright light at night.

I am really impressed with how lightweight and unnoticable tikka really is. I had my doubts going in, but not anymore. Gives off great light up close. Anyone wanting to see whats going on 30 yards away may want to go with halogen. Excellent comfort level and durability. Inexpensive, cant go wrong here.

It was 2 in the morning and we just finished coming into a gun position. Being a military driver I was told to put up the tent. My co driver left to make sure that everything was fine with the guns. Being tired I wanted to get the tent up fast so I could go to sleep so Tikka to the rescue it only took me 2 minutes at the most to put up the tent whereas it took about 10 minutes before using military issue flashlights.

I tried to use my Tikka to drain my recyclable batteries. After over a week of continuous on, the tikka won.

Excellent head lamp. I use this powerhouse for all my lighting needs. I love the bright beam of light. It's light wieght, and comfortable to wear. A must have item when backpacking or camping.

Anonymous - 2002-02-19Once you go Tikka, you never go back!
Forget about all those other headlamps.....once you own the Tikka, everything else will seem obsolete. The Tikka is wonderfully small (it literally fits in the palm of your hand), convenient, and weighs next to nothing! So many other headlamps make your neck feel a little strained and your head constantly seeking balance, but the Tikka seems like an invisible light source.
This item is an absolute must have!

I really like my Petzl Tikka. It is super lightweight and easily fits into a pocket, and it gives you alot of light for a long time. What more can you ask for?
Jim - 2003-01-04nice small, bright, long-lasting lamp.
Great little headlamp to take with you where ever you go. It's so light and small there's no reason not to take it with you. My only problems with the headlamp are that you can't angle the beam (which is a real pain if your climbing with it) and the switch is a pain to switch on and off with gloves on. The lens kit you cas get for it is great, you can throw a red lens in it to preserve your eye's adaptation to darkness (the only problem is you need light to put it in.)
This lamp is well worth the money and perfect for general use.

In the military, I am used to dark situations. The Tikka is light enough to keep around my neck without being a distraction. One can also buy coloured lenses to fit the front. The only two drawbacks to this light are that it is not water proof and the head unit cannot be angled. Otherwise, this is a very nice scattered, low-light headlamp. It preserves night vision very well.

It was very helpful on my trip! I recamend this to anyone who will be too busy camping or rock climbing to take up in extra hand holding a flashlight.
The only reason I gave it a four was because the batteries ran out a little too quickly. Other than that I thought this headlamp was the awesomist!! Have fun on your trip!

Good for general illumination while walking at night. Nice and light(weight). Not as good as a torch for identifying something more distant.
Poor construction- back plate cracking near switch on mine and friends unit. Switch hard to operate.
