Crampons built for traditional mountaineering, the Petzl Vasak Flexlock Crampons are designed for mountain and glacial travel. The Vasak provides comfort for walking and plenty of power for glacier climbing. The Vasak's semi-rigid design flexes a bit for a more natural gait and is extremely versatile. Length adjustment is tool-less and fast in support of your choice of footwear and also suggests the possibility of sharing crampons with a partner. These come with two flat front points for increased bearing power, thin-sectioned points for good penetration on ice, the next two points are inclined to give stability. The ten walking points are separated to respect the asymmetry of the boots and to limit the rail effect which increases the risk of slipping. The flexlock binding system are for boots without sole overlaps. A flexible binding at the front and the rear, adapts to the shape of the boot with strap fastening.

  • Walking on 10 points
  • Point lengths are optimally set to reduce stilt effect, improving stability and walking efficiency in mixed conditions
  • Flat front points provide excellent holding power and the next two points angle forward for support while front pointing
  • Semiflexible design combines rigid support on steep angles and flex for natural walking comfort
  • Crampons adjust easily without tools, accommodating half-sizes for an accurate, snug fit
  • Low-profile Antisnow® plates help prevent sticky snow from balling up beneath your feet without interfering with the projection of the points
  • Flexlock binding system is ideal for boots without welts; it uses low-bulk, flexible toe and heel bindings to adapt to most boot shapes and sizes
  • Nylon webbing straps snug the toe and heel pieces securely in place without excessively squeezing sides of boots
  • Supplied with Medium bars for boot size 36-46. Large bars (size 41-50) optional extra
  • Weight: 2 x 420

I bought these for mountaineering/snowboarding. So far I have no complaints they fit my snowboard boots awesome! they also feel good when just walking or going uphill. I wouldn't recommend them for anything to technical, Just basic mountaineering.

Pros: Build quality, Performance, Ease of use

A nice 12-point crampon that fit boots without welts. I use them with both my leather summer boots and my rubberized winter boots. The crampons are relatively easy to attach and stay secure.

Great for snowboard mountaineering
November 07, 2010

I used the Petzl Vasak crampons with the Flexlock attachment system with my snowboarding boats (Burton Ion size 11). They attach very securely and provide excellent traction. I borrowed a friend’s Vasak crampons and used them for snowboard mountaineering a couple of times and liked them so much that I bought my own pair.

my team leader recommended these vasak crampons and so far the suggestion has been spot on. they are easy to use which helps when in the field and freezing your butt off. so far i have been nothing but pleased with the results, as are the 6 others on my team that are also using them. one note: be sure to order the extension bar for those with US11.5 size shoes and above. they are not included. need to order those in addition.

Pros: Performance, Ease of use, Great value
