Petzl VERSO Belay Device
Description
Petzl's lightest belay/rappel device with Adaptive Rope Control technology, the Petzl Verso Belay Device is a simplified version of the REVERSO3, offering a lighter and more compact option for climbers looking to further reduce the weight/size of their rack of gear. The asymmetrical V-shaped grooved friction channels of the Verso adapt the friction for better control using our ARC (Adaptive Rope Control) technology.

Solid, functional belay device
December 05, 2010
I purchased this belay device because of its simplicity and lightness. It has met all of my expectations in both regards. The device sits well on the belay carabiner and the rope comes of the Verso smoothly.
Additionally the Verso works great for rappelling, however if you intend on using this for a larger diameter rope the openings in the Verso will be tight. You can use it, but it takes a bit of force to get the rope through.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Ease of use
Versatile and Reliable

I've used mine for belaying top-rope, as well and single and double line rappels. The Verso is fantastic, and the grooves definitely give it an edge over similar belay devices during long days of climbing.

I have had the reverso for a while now, and will still keep it for long multipitch ascents, but the verso is absolutely perfect for my everyday top rope/single pitch lead climbs. Love it, super light and exactly the same great rope handling as my reverso.
