These are my favorite pants for the gym!!!
November 15, 2011
I am a fitness-trainer 6 days per week, and I work with my customers at many and varied locales and terrain within Los Angeles. In my profession, I much prefer wearing pants when inside gyms because I don't like the notion of my skin coming into contact with the millions of germs which reside on all gym-equipment. These pants are the best I've found for fitness, comfort and their functional intent; they can handle any exercise movement no matter how big, explosive or zen-like. Also, they're abrasion-resistant which means they are tough! I can slide, scoot or stumble over and on hard-surfaces with no damage whatsoever. I really love these pants for my work! I can't say it enough, and they look great! So, when a customer invites me to lunch in Beverly Hills or Century City, I have no worries at all that I fit right in and feel unique too. These are truly a worthy value!Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use, Great value, they just rock!
Really Great Pants
December 29, 2010
I'm 6'5" and 200 lbs. The 34" inseam fits perfectly. Although I'm not much of a fan of the slightly flared legs, nor of the silly snaps near the bottom, the pants are fantastic. They fit great; they feel great. The rise feels relatively low, but they stretch well in all directions and have a tailored look and feel. All the competing pants I've tried have the styling of a sack. These pants can be worn into a restaurant with pride. I have not tried them in varying temperatures to render an opinion of the fabric's comfort range, but I'm betting it's pretty wide. A really great pair of pants.Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, excellent fabric
June 14, 2011
Truly comfortable. Pants give when squatting & crouching. Ventilate really well. Nice looking enough to wear off trail so I really get to wear these pants often. Hey - stretch pants stretching the dollar - HA, ok I'll move on.... Found the sizing to be on the large size. 99.9% of the time I'm a medium 31"-32" waste but the mediums were too big, so I ordered a small and they fit just fine, with room to spare. Well done Prana!Pros: Great design, Build quality
Everyday Everywhere Pants
January 04, 2012
I bought these pants to have a lightweight summer hiking and climbing option, but I probably wear them more than any other pants that I own. They breathe well and stretch for excellent comfort while still looking neat enough to pass as business casual at work. The roll-up feature works reasonably well (much better than no snaps at all), and they also dry quickly. My rock climbing coworker has started wearing them to work as well on my recommendation.Pros: Great design, Performance, Ease of use, comfort
December 28, 2010
These are by far the best pants I've worn. I bought my first pair 3 years ago with the majority of the time being worn in Iraq and Afghanistan. I'm 5'9 175 32" waist and the medium's fit perfect, not too baggy or too tight. Material is very comfortable and surprisingly tough. Stains fade after a few washes and no snags like most stretch pants get.Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Great value
Prana Clothing is made 4 the active adventurer!
March 24, 2013
I initially purchased the Men's Stretch Zion Pants for rock climbing only. Well, after wearing them around the gym, i decided to use them for hiking and all my outdoor activities. The scotchguard finish works great. The are very comfortable and fit very well for me. I have used them for hiking, rock climbing, around town, work, and for travel. The only issue is the pants are "supposed" to be abrasive resistant. After climbing in them two times, my belay loop on harness wore the crouch area pretty bad for only 2 uses. Other than that they are awesome pants!Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, fit
Tough, lightweight, and breathable pants
June 17, 2013
These are some great lightweight pants. They weigh next to nothing, but are built incredibly well - I've only had them about 2 months, but have been wearing them frequently and they show zero wear. The material breaths well and dries quickly. I was caught in a nice midwestern storm while hiking yesterday and they were dry within ten minutes of the rain stopping, despite the humidity. There are a series of small breathing holes in the crotch area. I did not realize they were there until I was biking at night and felt the breeze. This would be greatly appreciated on a hot biking trip, or really anytime it's hot. The material resists snagging when going through the underbrush. The fit is great. I typically wear 30x30s. I'm 5'8" and 140lbs, so I got the size SM with the 30" inseam (obviously). I have to tighten the built-in belt a very small amount. They legs have plenty of room for movement, but aren't baggy. You can certainly get away with wearing these around town. And the ability to roll the legs and snap them into place makes them great for biking or barefoot walking when you don't want them to drag. I highly recommend them. I will be buying a pair of the shorts next, or maybe the convertibles.Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of use, Great value
Quality and Comfort
May 04, 2012
I purchased these pants and I liked them so much that I bought another pair. I mainly use them for everyday use. I wear them to work every day. The material they are constructed from is lightweight and very breathable. The vents in the crotch are excellent. I also really like how the side pocket has two zippers. This feature makes it easy to access the contents while you are sitting down. You don't have to worry about losing your stuff if you put it in this dual-zippered pocket. My only criticism is that after wearing the pants for about 9 months (5 days a week) I have noticed that they have becomes stiffer and less comfortable than they initially were. The color also seems to have faded a bit. I imagine that this is probably a combination of my frequent washing schedule (about one per week) as well as the fact that I do maintenance and construction work.Pros: Great design, Performance, Great value, Cons: Wears quickly
I LOVE THESE PANTS
February 10, 2012
I bought a pair of arterxy ramparts and hated them. So I was lucky as heck to find a prana store in Boulder that I could try on the pranas and I loved them instantly. They fit better than the arcteryx, have better material and look better. I sent back the ramparts and have bought 4 pairs of the zions and thats all i ever wear. I dont even wear jeans anymore. I just wish they had more colors and I would buy them all. Navy blue...hint hint....buy these pants they are comfy, make my butt look great and I am wearing them right now.Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use, Great value
Excellent for climbing
May 21, 2009
These are light weight but very durable and comfortable. The only weak point I have found is in the fly button. I ripped it off sliding against a rock. The riveting method they employed on this is cheap in my opinion. Other than that These pants excel! I will need to have them hemmed as they are to long for my legs. I generally wear a 32" inseam, and these are dragging in the dirt. The mediums fit my 33" waist size just right.
March 20, 2011
I use these pants for climbing and they are excellent. I've been using this model for many years, and this pant has recently been improved in that prana now offers it in a 32 or 34 inch inseam for a much better fit.

Great for the first day of school!
September 07, 2011
While I haven't worn these pants hiking yet, I did put them through the wringer while teaching freshmen in high school--and they came through with flying colors! The kids even complimented me, and, since I'm over 60, that's something. The pants stretch readily, making it easy to crouch down close to computer screens. The drape is great, and the built-in belt is extremely comfortable. I did originally order mediums but they were too big, but the smalls are great. I'm ordering another color ASAP.,Pros: Great design, Performance, Ease of use
April 10, 2011
These are great pants for travel and hiking. They are lightweight and very practical.I wear them pedaling my bicycle.I roll them up for that. They stretch a bit.I love them and I think others will as well.Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use, Great value
Great pants for lots of activities
November 29, 2010
This is my second pair of Prana stretch zion pants. They are my favorite outdoor and casual pants. The stretch fabric is comfortable enough for everyday casual wear yet durable enough for climbing. The vents in the crotch keep me cool and the trim cut with inside cargo pockets makes these pants suitable for everyday wear without looking like I have cargo pocket pants on. Highly recommended.Pros: Build quality, Performance
Great Pair of Pants
May 19, 2010
After purchasing the Prana 'Voyager' pants I could not wait to try their other offerings. The Zion does not disappoint; I am not sure which pair I like best. The Zion pant is light, looks great and most importantly comfortable.

Great fit, very comfortable a must have for outdoor wear. I use the Prana zion pants to golf, bike and hike. Give them a try you will not be disappointed.Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Cons: Cost
Super Comfortable Pants!
May 11, 2012
This is my first pair of Prana pants but it definitely won't be my last. Just wore them on a short hike and was amazed how cool and comfortable they were. The stretch fabric is great. The fit is true to size. The pants also look nice enough to wear to work with polo or button down shirt.Pros: Great design, Build quality
January 03, 2011
other reviews mentioned that these pants ran tight, but the large fits a 35 waist and true to the size chart. the material is a bit heavier than the patagonia GI ii pants, however, still light enough for summer outdoor use.Pros: Great design, Build quality, Ease of use
Perfect for all
November 21, 2011
These pants have bee. Perfect from lounging around the house to hiking to the next bouldering spot. Thry were great in yoga also. I now have 3 pairs and they are worth way more then the cost.Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance
May 11, 2012
These pants are great. I'm 6'4" 195 lbs and the large 34" inseam fit perfectly with no bagginess through the crotch. These dry very quickly after getting wet and breathe well enough to be comfortable in warm weather. I use them for a variety of outdoor activities as well as my go-to travel pants. They have held up through many wash cycles with only a couple of loose threads. I ended up getting two pairs but I still wish they were less expensive.Pros: Build quality, Performance, Cons: Cost
Look no further
January 23, 2012
I own 3 shorts and just bought the pants for cooler weather. They are without equal in terms of comfort, durability and fit. Light, breathable flexible and immediately satisfying. I'm a 33 waist and the medium is fine. 32 Inseam is good for 6 footers and above. Buy a pair and you won't wear anything else.Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of use
November 05, 2010
Okay, so after a hard 3 1/2 hike through West fork Trail in Sedona, I needed some dry clothes to meet up with a pal of mine for Sushi, didn't want to go all the way out to Enchantment to change! FINALLY fout an outdoor adventure store and purchased a clearance item pair of Prana Stretch Zion... talk about love at first wear! In the last month I have bought 3 more pair of shorts and pants, and plan on buying more! Fantastic product. Great for climbing, hiking, blading, triking, or just casual wear. Hard to wear anything else. Thanyou Prada! Tom D.Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of use, time will tell value wise, Cons: Cost
Long legs are happy
April 22, 2011
Many of you long legged gents have been looking for an okay fitting pair of hiking/travel type pants. I am a 34 inch waist with a 36 inch inseam. I have very large thighs from squatting down milking cows. These pants are longer than described and the thighs are large. Very comfortable. I bought two more pair after wearing these. I've had milk, cow manure and blood on these pants, and they wash to look like new. The pockets are awesome.Pros: Great design, Build quality, Ease of use, Great value
go everywhere/do everything pants
November 15, 2011
These pants have and will go with me to the city when traveling, airport, gym, in the kayak, mountains, camping, hiking/backpacking etc...everywhere. Excellent quality. I am 6'0" 160lbs and the small 32 is a perfect fit for me.Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance
August 07, 2011
The Zion pants are very comfortable and good looking pants. Because the pants can stretch, it is an excellent pants for climbing. I'm wearing 30X30 and fit comfortably in size S with 30 inseam. I'm planning to purchase another pants with different color.Pros: Great design, Performance, Cons: Cost
Great Travel Pants
December 27, 2010
I purchased these pants based on my experience with the Men's Stretch Zion Shorts. Since the shorts are great for travel, I thought I would try the Men's Stretch Zion Pants and I was not disapointed. They are extremely durable and comfortable. The zippered cargo pockets are great for securing valuables. I would definately recommend these for the adventuresome.Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance
Not the pant it used to be
May 10, 2009
This was once a great utility pant that worked well with casual attire but is now a yoga pant with no function for the trail. The cinch strap often loosens and then requires two hands and full attention to tighten. Flaired, bell bottom legs. Prana has lost the vision of a pant they still hype as being tested trekking Zion N.P.
Great Travel Pants
August 20, 2012
I purchased the Zion pants for active travel in warm climates. They fit beautifully, and are extremely comfortable. I also use them for hiking. I find the "roll-up" feature superior to "convertible" pants with the uncomfortable mid-thigh zipper. Don't think I'll wear them to the opera, but for everything else, they're the bomb!Pros: Great design, Build quality, Ease of use, comfortable, Cons: not all colors available
October 30, 2009
I am an arborist by trade and these pants have held up like champs. My only complaint is the lack of beltloops. they sag when wet, and the internal doesnt cut it for holding them up!
Great for Climbing
April 21, 2009
The only pants I'll wear for climbing and I've tried them all. Great casual wear off the crags as well. The fit is perfect and the extra stretch really helps when you're stretched out on the rock. Love the snaps for rolling up the lets in hot weather.
Great pair of pants
December 23, 2009
I bought these pants for my husband for Christmas. He already had a pair that he wore so much that I couldn't keep them clean. They are great pants that you can wear casually or dress them up with a nice shirt/sweater.
Perfect for all

April 07, 2011
Durable and comfortable pants. Folding option with buttons on the leg that convert the pants into 3/4 length. Five pockets in total, with zippers on the thighs. Have used the pants for hiking. The fabric has some stretch witch makes them good for activities like hiking and climbing. The only con I can find with the pant is that the belt is annoying at times. The belt buckle is not able to hold the belt in position with sagging as a result.Pros: Build quality, Performance, Ease of use, Great value, Cons: Bad design
December 27, 2011
Bought the pants to hike though Europe. Held up well and fit well. Bought a medium with 34" inseam and they fit great. I am a 32"x34". The plants were a hair long without boots on but were perfect with boots.
XL is huge
May 05, 2011
I normally wear a L and the only size left was xl so i thought id just have to wear a belt. I was wrong, there are no belt loops. Not only was the waist larger, but the pant legs themselves were at least 2-3 inches larger and made me look like mc hammer. These also are last years design and the belt doesnt sinch down when you pull on it like the newer strech zions. So I returned them.Pros: Build quality, Great value, Cons: Bad design
New Favorite Pants
May 05, 2012
I really love these pants. I've worn them on camping and backpacking trips. They have taken a bit of a beating at times, but show no signs of wear. The fit is pretty athletic, not baggy at all, but the stretch affords you full range of motion. They are not cheap, but it appears they will hold up well enough to be more than worth it.
March 17, 2012
i had purchased these in an effort to reduce the amount of space that my jeans and cargo pants are taking up. Three of these would probably have less weight than a pair of jeans. I had always wanted some pants that are lightweight for the summer months, and had to resort to swoosh pants which I hate because of the swooshy noise they make. Thankfully these do not swoosh, and offer warmth for the cool nights. I might utelize the button-up at the pant legs when I go bike riding so thats nice. The cargo pocket also seems useful.Pros: Great design, Build quality
Great for Climbing -- Almost perfect
March 09, 2010
These seem rugged, don't get me wrong. But I'm used to climbing in Thresher pants and these just don't seem quite as rugged as those. Thus, four out of five. Maybe I'm too strict.

They ran a bit long for my taste. Not sure when high-end clothing makers will get that if they want it made right make it in the US. I think the flexy fabric is great for range of motion
New fave pants
January 07, 2011
I had the Zion stretches for some time now and they have become indispensable. I've used them for bushwhacking through the Bad Lands and Black Hills last summer and they held up very well. I particularly appreciate the "stretch" nature of the pants and find that they breath very well. As mentioned in other reviews, they carry over very well into casual wear and even urban adventures-- versatility is key for me. To that end, I had actually just ordered a pair of Prana Wingnut's (grey) but found them to be looser and didn't care for the fit, so am returning and going to order another pair of Zion stretches. The pants have a nice, trim fit but not too tight. I am 6'2", average a 33/34 waist and weigh 210. I like a tighter fitting pant but don't want constriction while out on the trail. I ordered both large and medium and settled on the M and a super happy with it. I'm looking forward to breaking in my new Zion's at Mardi Gras 2011 in NOLA in a month or so!!Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Great value
Stretch Zion Pants Sizing
May 11, 2012
I've read alot of positive reviews about these pants. And from my research, they appear to be the most durable and comfortable hot weather pants I could find. The thing is, they run a bit big. I am a tad lanky though. 5'11" 130 lbs. I usually take a 30 inch inseam, and these pants are no exception. The 30 inch inseam is perfect. However, the waist on the medium is HUGE. I had the draw strap cinched all the way, and I can still fit an arm in between me and the pants waist. With a belt on, the pants sag a bit in the front. So now I'm getting the small in a 30" inseam.Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of use, Great value, Cons: sizing is off
Versatile, genderless pants
November 11, 2011
Light weight material has an appealing hand, and the cut of the pants makes them suitable for women too. Although I bought them for hiking and expedition-type travel, they look nice enough that I am comfortable wearing them for business travel as well. The zippered leg pocket is great for a passport; a cool feature is that this pocket can be accessed by two different zippers - one at the top, and one at the inner side, which actually makes a difference depending on your configuration when you need access. I am 58 and 130 lbs (female) and the small is a good fit, but not perfect, as there is a bit of a waist-gap issue, but the integrated belt really makes that a minimal issue. They seem to run a bit short though; the 32 inseam does not seem like a 32, and I wish I had bought the 34 instead.
Designed for Motion
October 13, 2012
I waited 9 months to do this review. A medium 34 is similar to 32 waist / 34 inseam jeans in size. I was looking for something nice enough for business casual that was sufficiently thin and durable that I could wear under motorcycle leathers. They hang well, move well, and dont wrinkle much. The extra leg pocket comes in handy without creating a baggy feel. Ive also subjected this pair to manual labor in extreme desert heat and fine dust with no issues, and they showered to a clean look before laundry washing.Pros: Great design, Performance, Cons: Cost, limited colors
December 16, 2009
I bought these pants to wear for rock climbing. I just can say that the fit is super comfortable to use with a harness, I'm not sure about the durability yet, this pant looks great also for casual use.
June 12, 2006
Very comfortable and functional - hiking or just wearing at work. I have an inseam of 32 and bought a medium which are just a hair long. Otherwise excellent buy.
March 12, 2012
Very comfortable pants no matter what your doing. They are completely water proof, which is great for the outdoors. Going to be buying another pair because their so nice.Pros: Great design, Build quality
May 29, 2012
I hate hiking pants. Could they, as a genre, be uglier? Less fitted? More "synthetic" feeling? Yes, you want them to be rugged, quick drying, practical to the hilt, but have we really had our best people working on this problem? I think not. Not until these Zion stretch pants. "Stretch" for men. Why have women been having all the fun? Eliminates the common problem of pants pulling during hiking and backpacking. Love the lightness of these, and they may be totally insufficient for cold trips, I don't know yet. But they are so nicely fitted. Had to return first pair--though marked "long", they measured a standard 32" inseam. Error. Next pair was a perfect 34". I'm 6'4" and 185 lbs. Medium build. Waist and legs fit PERFECTLY. I love the fit. I hike and don't find several hours later that the butt seam is riding my hip. I didn't know about not having zip offs, but since most zip offs are way too high for my taste, making me look like Borat going for a swim, I decided to opt for the roll-up alternative. Not bad. There are snaps to keep the legs rolled up to about 6-8 inches above my boots and the pants are very breathable, so I'm pretty comfortable. Only ONE cargo pocket, but nicely positioned more to the side than the front, so contents tend to hang in air rather than slap against the thigh. Prana did a nice job eliminating many of the irritations of hiking pants. And they don't soil easily. After hiking, you can easily wear them around town without shame. First pair of hiking pants I've liked (other than a non-zip Mountain Hardware pair I use for colder weather). Highly recommended.Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of use, Great value
My favorite pants
February 05, 2013
These are my favorite pants. I own 2 pair now. They are extremely comfortable and durable and i like the fact that the cargo pockets are internal instead of bulky on the outside.Pros: comfort
Best hiking/casual pants ever!
February 08, 2013
After having tried numerous pants, all I get now is this. The best ever! Stretchy, yet not insubstantial--but still light--pants. The medium with inseam 30 inches fits me perfectly and I'm 5'8" and 180lbs. The only issue is that--unlike the prior model--the back pocket does not have a zipper, so can't hold my bulging wallet. It tends to slip out while sitting. Other than that--perfect!Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use, Great value
Great for travel
January 07, 2012
I was pleased with the fit ... the waist is true while leg seems a bit large thru thigh. Very comfortable fabric that washes nicely and the stretch fabric is very comfortable for activity. We are on our way to Nicaragua ... I plan to buy another pair before we leave.Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance
Favorite piece of clothing
November 03, 2011
Hands down, my favorite piece of clothing. I've owned 6 pairs of Zion pants and they have only improved in the last few years. They are basically for the warmer season, but I tend to wear them year round in the Pacific Northwest, I just wear some long underwear underneath in the winter. They are extremely comfortable and with the newer stretch fabric, they are very durable and will last for years.Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Cons: Cost
I Love These Pants
May 27, 2011
I just bought my 2nd pair and they won't be my last. They fit well, the fabric is comfortable and they move incredibly well no matter what I'm doing. They work equally well kicking around the city or heading up Tiger Mountain.Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of use
December 05, 2010
These pants are light weight, so I was a little concerned with durability. However, they put up with anything I throw at them, even in the knees and crotch. I particularly like the roll-up bottoms so I can vary the length accordingly. They are so comfortable, I have used them for running in a pinch.
