Great all around pant
October 19, 2012
I got these pants mainly for climbing and hiking/backpacking. I needed a durable quick-dry pant and these definitely fit the bill. As soon as I got them, I wore them on a weekend backpacking trip. They're really comfortable, stretchy and quick-drying. The shorts come to about knee length or a little longer, which isn't exactly my style, but that should work well for climbing. I am about 5'6 or 5'7 and around 130 lbs. I'm normally a size 6, so I ordered these in a 6 with a 32'in inseam. The length was perfect over my hiking boots. I definitely wouldn't want them to be any bigger, they fit comfortably and loosely in the waist, hip, butt and thigh, which is great for allowing full range of motion. I'd recommend them for sure!

This is my second pair of these pants. You cannot go wrong. I paid full price and it is worth the splurge. These pants are super versatile - you can climb in them, do yoga in them, yes - you could bike in them if you had nothing else to wear! they are super durable, travel well, dry fast. get them!
Comfortable

I can't wait to wear these on vacation. They are comfortable and stylish. It will be nice to wear the pants if it is cool in the mornings, then switch to shorts when it gets hot in the afternoon. I only have one problem, they are too long on me.
Pros: Build quality, Cons: CostWell Worth the Cost

I have found that most other brand hiking pants are rather unflattering on my petite frame due to the high-waisted styles. I have relied on Prana for years for a more "normal" fit and the Monarchs are the best pants I have found for hiking. These pants are comfortable, breathable, and durable, and quick-drying. I've never had an issue with the pants being a lint attractant that the other reviewer had. My only complaint is that the design has varied slightly over the years. Although identical in appearance to the 2010 version, the 2011 version was redesigned and the fit is slightly different. The material is slightly more rigid and the waistband is 1" smaller with less stretch, rendering it less comfortable on bloated days and slightly higher in rise (due to the smaller waist). These are minor complaints but overall, I still give it 5 stars.
Pros: Great design, Performance, breathable, water resistant, stretch fabric, Cons: pricey but worth itBest Pants For Hitting The Trail

As usual, Prana lives up to it's reputation with these pants. Fits is comfortable and true to size. Always a tad bit too long when new (I'm 5'4), but perfect after 1 or 2 washings. Wonderful to be able to zip off half a leg for a knicker effect when it gets warmer as the day heats up. Dries super quick, too. Fabric is a magnet for just about every piece of lint or pet hair that is in your house, but really made for the great outdoors. Not one of those pieces that functions well as everyday wear, but can't beat it for adventure gear! Love them!!!
Pros: Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Great value, 2 pair of pants in 1!!, Cons: attracts lint super easy!Solid Pair of Hiking Pants

I really like these pants. Dirt and mud washed right out of them b/c of the Scotchgard protection. They dry really fast as well. These are a light weight pant, good for summer, spring, or fall. I didn't give the pants 5 stars for two reason. The zipper for the conversion is directly behind my knee and will rub at times (not overly annoying but took a little while to get used to). Also, the pants are a little rough. I attribute that to the Scotchgard and whatever is used to make it water repellent.

On-time shipping, nice material used for pants, nice cut (no bulky pockets), comfortable fit. I own a couple pairs of prana convertible pants the past year and the improvements have definitely been the material and the cut of the pants for more durability and sleekness in style. They still attract lint and 2011's sizes are either true to the size marked or else they are smaller...so if you own pairs of these pants previously, you will need a bigger size.

Super comfortable and durable pants! Love them but they are really long and I am 5'8" but worth hemming them up. Will be buying another pair for sure.
