The impressive brightness is courtesy of the latest Nichia Ultrabright LEDs boasting 30% greater output than standard LEDs. Pretty Good Light

The light seems to be pretty bright. Somehow I thought it would be brighter, but it does the job and is pretty light weight.
One gripe would be is that the batteries are awkward to install and seem to rattle inside of the housing.
