Great bang for the buck!
February 08, 2012
After debating between the North Face Apex Android Hoodie and this jacket the Quicksilver won out for a couple of reasons. 1) Nice relaxed fit, cut long in the sleeves and torso (the North Face was too short in the torso) 2) The grey has the steez of a regular hoodie with its pull strings, but you get the practical water resistance (5k) of a softshell. Overall the wind resistance was great. Water resistance was acceptable. This is a very warm jacket. If I could design a softshell hoodie they would all have a few key features such as...thumb loops, pit zips, lift ticket loop, and zip-off powder skirt option. The quicksilver does lack all of the above, but so do most other softshells in this price range. Overall I would definitely buy another one...can't beat it at this price! I layered it with a hard shell for temps in the teens, and wet snow...awesome mid-layer as well. I am 5'9", 150lbs and bought a large for a extra relaxed fit. Hope this helps.
Pros: Great design, Performance, Ease of use, Great value
