High-tech protection with sleek racer styling, the R.E.D. Frequency Helmet is ultra lightweight and loaded with comfort features for those who crave high speed and an uncompromised fit. Built around an in-molded polycarbonate shell, the R.E.D. Frequency ski and snowboard helmet is lighter than injection molded models, contributing to the feather-light feel that makes you nearly forget that the helmet is on. Also contributing to the unencumbered feeling is a host of adjustable comfort features to give you the exact fit you desire. A Softfit dual component liner conforms to the shape of your head so you don't feel annoying pressure points as you bounce through the bumps. To get a snug fit, the MC2, Mechanical Fit and Comfort System, adjusts the liner's circumference to match your head precisely, and a Zip Clip ratcheting chin buckle offers fine-tuning so that the strap is not too loose, nor too tight. Quick Clip ear pads on the R.E.D. Frequency Helmet provide ear muff-like protection from stinging wind chill and easily remove for comfort in mild conditions or to swap out for the speaker equipped Audex Audio Ear Pad Accessory. And not to be forgotten, Burton's R.E.D. Frequency Helmet includes Climacontrol venting, a series of screened vents across the top of the helmet that close partially or all the way, depending on the amount of air intake that makes you the most comfortable.
Excellent helmet, excellent adjustable fit, lightweight, stylish
I searched for about a month solid before I found and decided on this helmet. I looked at all the helmets in the $80 and up range. I don't know why this one was marked down so much (maybe overstock or last years model), but I picked two of them up (one for my uncle) on Altrec for less than $40-an incredible deal.
All the other positive reviews listed above are dead on, I would also emphasize that the adjustability of this helmet makes it way better than most of even the most expensive helmets! Plus, ventilation options that you can adjust with glove on. If you can still get this helmet, don't hesitate.
Great
Light, adequately padded, and the ventilation flaps are actually usable with mittens on! It is precisely what one wants in a helmet.
Awesome
This helmet is super light, and comfortable. Its easily adjustable to fit every contour of your head and its stylish and most importantly its light

stylin!
This helmet was purchased for my son & he loves it. Comfortable fit & warm!Nice look , too.
Great Helmet
I like it. Light, comfortable and easy to use vents. Just what I was looking for.
Cool and Comfortable
This helmet fits great and the ability to open and close the vents with the simple slide of a lever makes it great for those warm days and those cold lift rides to the top.
Light and Solid
Very Nice Helmet. It's really light and comfortable. I bought it with the Audix Ear pads and they work very well. I really recommend it!
awesome helmet
I've used this helmet 4 times. The vents are great and the plugs make it a really warm helmet on days with your 30 mph winds. The helmet has the circumference adjuster which is awesome when you are going from wearing a beanie to no beanie and is easy to do with the helmet on. It comes with extra padding to make sure the fit is perfect. Only thing I don't like is on my head the chin strap sits back on my neck so I have to take the straps off the ear pads so they are tilted to the front of my head and the ear pads do not totally cover the front of my ears but I wear a beanie so it doesn't bother me! Overall, a very good helmet!
Great helmet
I've used this helmet since the beginning of the season, and love it. The vents and plugs make it easy to adjust airflow to the noggin'. The earpads are large and have substantial padding to keep out the cold. The helmet is also adjustable to the circumference of your head, so you get a perfect fit.
NOTE: If you measure between two size, chose the next larger size.

A soft measuring tape is an excellent tool to determine the correct circumference of the user's head in centimeters and get a rough idea of what helmet size will fit them best. If you do not have a soft tape, use string. Do not use a metal tape as it will not give an accurate measurement.
1.) Have the user stand facing you while looking straight ahead. (Tip: when fitting small children it is helpful to kneel in front of them so you are at eye level.)
2.) Using both hands, hold the measuring tape at each end with the marks facing away from you.
3.) Place the fit tape behind the user's head just above the ears.
4.) Wrap the side in your right hand around to the front of their forehead so the end of the tape is centered between (and just above) the eyebrows.
5.) Wrap the side in your left hand around (just above the ears and brow) to overlap the end of the tape with a snug fit. Read the measurement at the end of the tape to determine circumference measurement.
6.) Remove measuring tape and record the measurement. This number can be used to narrow the helmet size selection using the helmet-sizing chart above.
