Well worth the cost
October 13, 2012

I've used this helmet many times now and had no issues with it. The helmet looks very sleek and fits pretty comfortably as well. More than anything, a helmet is supposed to protect your head and this does exactly that. In the past I've taken some pretty bad falls, and your helmet can make the difference between a bad headache and a trip to the hospital. I have no problem recommending this to anyone. In terms of the appearance, the helmet looks very sleek and stylish. I think I look great gliding down the mountain. The gray is a little lighter than it appears in the pictures, but not by much. In terms of functionality, the helmet is great too. When I take my snowboard goggles off my face and rest them on the helmet, there is no slipping. The ventilation features are also great - some helmets have small holes that they claim allows for ventilation, but this helmet actually allows you to open up the vents and quickly cool down. The only negative I have to say is that the helmet isn't as comfortable when the ear pads are removed. I don't usually ride with ear pads off, so this isn't an issue for me personally, but even with them off, the helmet is more comfortable than others I have used.

Looks sexy; fits poorly
January 24, 2012

Purchased this helmet b/c I had had good luck with Burton products previously--and liked the low-profile matte black look of the RED Force. Upon receiving it though, it quickly became apparent that the fit was poor---despite an 'adjustable' internal fit, there appears to be something under the lining(?) that was lumpy that created a hot spot and poked the back of the head; not a subtle thing and no amount of adjusting the lining helped. Sending this product back without even trying to use it. If its this uncomfortable in the house--no way I'm taking it out in the elements. Ordered a Giro G10 instead--and love it. Love Altrec though; have used them many times before and service is quick, professional, and reliable. Keep up the great work, Altrec.

Cons: Bad design, Poor quality
