This is my third pair of Royal Robbin Traveler Pants. They are very comfortable, stay looking very nice after a days wear and wash and dry in no time. The fit is good. I have a smaller waist and the buttons on the waist band enhance the fit. It is so nice to find pants that fit at the natural waist. They are easy to pack and take up less space than other travel pants. I would recommend them to my friends and will order more of them for travel.
Pros: Great design, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of useTravel pants for all weather
November 09, 2011
I wore these during my recent trip to England and Scotland. London was sultry with record temperatures (89F!) and Edinburgh was cool and rainy. The pants stood up to both tests - allowed sweat to evaporate to keep me cool in the London heat and were quick-drying when wet in the rain. These are now my favorite travel pants. Features I liked best: - Quick-drying: Dried within 2-3 hours when hung near an open window after washing. - Mesh pockets: Comfortable when the weather is sultry - Zipped pocket: Kept my small wallet safe - I didnt have to worry about pickpockets - Loop at the hem: Perfect to slightly shorten the pant leg height so that the pants stayed on top of the shoes - Short elastic in the waist: Makes the pants sit well on the waist without the waist-gaps at the back. (5'2" curvy woman) - Lightweight, and more importantly, crease-resistant. I may be on vacation, but I still like to dress smartly. Features I liked least: - Material makes a mild swooshing sound when you walk because its mostly nylon - can't help it perhaps because of the quick-drying and lightweight qualities. - I could manage the height with the loop and wearing shoes. These will not go very well with sandals if not altered.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Cons: CostGreat travel pants for long legs

For my third pair of this brand, I bought khaki. My others are black. I like the fit of the higher waist, and the length, as well as the fabric. It's hard to find longs. They don't take up much room in luggage. I wash them by hand. Excellent for travel, these will be worn in China, Tibet, Nepal, and India later this year. This is a brand and style I have worn for several years. I hope they don't discontinue it.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of useGreat travel pants!

This is my third pair of Royal Robbins Traveler pants. 3 nice colors. These pants look great, don't wrinkle after hours on an airplane, hand wash well and dry quickly. I like the zippered pockets and smooth fit. I am quite tall so the long length is perfect.
Great pants for Hot Climates
January 20, 2012
I have owned this pant from Royal Robbin for several years but recently went to get a new pair because they finally offered LONG! Really grant pant for hot temps, durable, comfortable, extra features of hidden pockets are great. Highly recommended.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performancegood travel pants

I bought these pants for a 5-week vacation in Europe. They were lighter weight than the convertible pants I already owned. I was really happy with the lightweight feel of the fabric and you could wash them at night and they would be dry by the next day. They look pretty dressy and any wrinkles hang out quickly. The only negative is that the waistband isn't lined, so if you aren't wearing a camisole tucked in you might find the seams a little uncomfortable, but it's not too bad. Also, I somehow managed to get a pinprick tear in mine right off, so the fabric is a little sensitive, but that's what gives them such a light feeling. I would definitely suggest these pants!
Pros: Build qualityGreat for talls
April 13, 2011
Tall, lightweight pants for travel, are hard to find. I like these because they have a slim fit and not baggy. I'm 5'11" and these pants are fine. Off the rack pants are usually 2" too short. Haven't worn them on a trip yet, and would have preferred some that zip off to bermuda length, but these are better than nothing.
Great pants and good service!

I originally ordered the Bark in size 8 regular, but they were too long. Return was easy, and changed to Khaki size 8 Short and they are perfect. I love these pants--so comfortable and perfect for hiking and casual events. Plan to order Bark color once they are in stock. Great service from Altrec!
Great pants for traveling!

I really like my Royal Robbins Cardiff stretch Traveler pants. Great colors and no wrinkles. Can be hand washed and hung to dry in a short period of time. Very light weight but kept me warm in Alaska.

I'm ordering a second pair. They fit well and are great fro traveling. The length is also just right, unlike most pants I see these days in the store.
Pros: Great designtoo small
January 13, 2012
I usually take a 4 sometimes a 6 in pants. I ordered these in a 6 becuase I wante da looser more comfortable fit and they are tight. While they fit, and would be fine if they were dress pants, i'm returning them because I want them more comfortable.
Pros: Build quality, Cons: fitVery comfortable, but....
September 12, 2011
they made my legs look like tree trunks. I'm familiar with Royal Robblns so I'm assuming the quality was good - it looked and felt well made. It would be nice if the legs were more fitted. I also had an issue with the material making noise when I walked. Still, they felt fine in the waist and hips and would make nice walking pants for some. I usually wear a size 8 and the 8 in RR was a good fit. I'm sorry to have to return these pants. So again, I'm off on my search for the perfect pair of pants.
Pros: Great valueJungle Pants
April 25, 2012
I bought a pair of these to bring with me to the jungle of Peru. When they arrived and I tried them on and spent half a day in them, I came back to my computer and ordered 3 more pairs. I love these. I am short and I did not have to hem these. The length was perfect. The fit was so comfortable I didn't have to adjust them in any way. I wore these everywhere I went in Peru - from Machu Picchu to the jungle and they were great. After hiking in the jungle, I rinsed them off in the shower and hung them up outside. They dried fast and were ready to go again. They made a huge contribution to my enjoyment of this trip. They are lightweight and I could stuff them anywhere in the backpack and shake them out and they were ready to wear. I will be buying additional pairs.

I'd wear them anywhere
October 04, 2012
Just got my size 10 Royal Robbins Cardiff pants. (I purchased the regular length; I am 5'8" tall, and the "long" would have been too long.) I bought them sight unseen because my RR Discovery pants have become a favorite. The Cardiff pants are giving me the same thrills -- good fit, classy cut, and comfortable -- but I can wear them to work as well as for a hike because of the clean lines and lack of wrinkles. These pants show attention to detail: the stitching is downright sharp, the buttons are sewn on well, the "secret pocket" is pretty darned secret. I hope all the extra buttons to adjust the fit at waist and ankle don't strain the fabric, because I want these pants to last forever! In case you care: no belt loops!
Pros: Great design, Build qualityPerfect pants, almost perfect fit.

I'm 5'5 with an athletic build and usually have trouble finding pants that fit comfortably in the thighs without having to go up a size then have the waist taken in. These pants surprisingly fit my legs great but were a little short in the rise which caused them to ride up so unfortunately they had to go back. Too bad because the fabric and style were just what I was looking for. Hope this info helps.

Comfy Pants for Hiking and Everyday
September 06, 2011
I bought these in Khaki for summer hiking. The slightly dropped waist feels great and the seams are smooth so no bumps under the pack. The material is smooth, so dirt doesn't stick. They are a quick-dry nylon, so even on hot sweaty hikes I dry out quickly. Love them so much I bought them in Black for everyday wearing and will buy the Portobello when I can find them on sale.

Lightweight for packing, comfortable & great looking!
June 25, 2010
I own several pairs of these pants, and they are my favorites at home & when traveling. They work well for dressing-up, or for casual wear, and the adjustable waist makes for a great fit. They are very lightweight for packing & take up less space than most slacks. The only change I'd ask Royal Robbins to make is to have the elastic band at the cuff match the color of the pants. The black elastic band at the bottom of my new "bark" color pants will have to go...
Great pants!
May 03, 2010
I like these pants. They are super comfortable. However, I ordered the next size up (based on recommendations here) and they stretch during wearing and so are very loose by the end of the day. I would order them again.

Excellent quality, great fit

Very comfortable, great fit, durable. Machine wash and dry or wash by hand and air dry if you are traveling. I bought these for travel and also use them for casual work days.
Pros: Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Great value, easy careOutstanding fit and features

Love the front zip security pocket. Fit and length are great. Would recommend all travelers and active women consider a purchase of these pants! I would recommend any of the Royal Robbins clothing line.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Great valueBest pants!

I am 5'2" and 107lb. I ordered two pairs of these pants in both colors, in size 2/short, and they fit perfectly! I always have problem with the length of pants and it's really hard to find a pair without having to fix it. Also it is really hard for me to find the right size around the waist. I have 25.5" at natural waist but usually those sold in USA are too big even when I buy an XS! I usually have to wear a belt and I really envy those kids' pants that have adjustable bands and buttons inside at the waist! But not these pants! They're just perfect! Good enough length and the waist feels just right. These pants even have adjustable buttons at both sides so if you are slimmer you can tighten it up without sacrificing style!

Very large!
January 11, 2013
These pants have the potential to be nice, like the RR Discovery pants. However, they run very large. Many RR pants require sizing up one. Do NOT size up with these! They are cut very wide through the legs. They also make a loud swishing sound when my legs move. The Discovery pants are extremely lightweight and much nicer, in my opinion.
Cons: Bad designNice quality but not for me
August 20, 2011
I was looking for a higher quality pair of pants that I can basically live in when on trips. I ordered these, size 12 Long, based on the 5 star reviews not only on Altrec but from other sites as well. Yes, it is true, these are very well made pants however, I don't understand how they fit, seemingly everyone, so perfectly. I'm 5'8", normally a size 12 in pants. These fit everywhere but in the waist. The waist also seems very high to me. I'm in my 40s and not looking for hip huggers or low riders, just not so high on the waist. I do consider myself short waisted though so this could be part of the problem. The length was perfect! I like my pant a little on the longer side so the length would be great for those well over 5"8". The fit in the rear and thighs was also very good. Overall, these are well made. If you like your pants to sit a bit higher on the waist and don't carry extra weight in your middle, these could be great. If you do carry weight in the stomach area and still want to try these, I suggest going up a size.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Great valueFebruary 26, 2012
Pants are great for warm summer wear when you don't want to wear shorts. Downside is that the fabric gets thin fairly fast with extensive wear. But still, the design is great and fabric is breathable, and I love the zip pockets.
Pros: Great design, Ease of use, Cons: Wears quicklyGreat Pants.
March 21, 2010
I originally bought these pants for travel in Europe, but now where them all the time. I especially like the bark color. It's a little bit different shade of brown...very flattering....and goes well with even black. These pants are soft, comfortable and can be easily dressed up or down and no wrinkles!!!!!
Strange cut to the pockets
June 01, 2010
I returned these pants because I didn't like the cut. The picture doesn't show the way the pocket on these pants are cut. There's a seam on the front pockets inset 2-3" from the side of the pants. It gives you a weird, boxy look. I'm giving an average rating because a lot of outdoors clothing is functional yet unflattering.
Awesome Pant
June 21, 2010
This has become my work dress pant, travel pant and general wear-around-on-the-weekend pant. So comfortable, such a great fit. NO wrinkles. It's very slimming and dressy enough to wear with a sport jacket for meetings.

I wear a size 6 or 8 and weigh 138 at 5'5. I ordered a 6 short and they fit the way I like, not tight but fitted....I don't like a lot of room or baggy pants. The short comes right to the top of my shoes with no break in the pants leg. I plan to travel with these to Europe and to go birding.I can tell they will be great!

Great pants for traveling
May 18, 2010
I love the fit of these pants and took 4 pairs to Italy for a week of hiking the Cinque Terra and sightseeing in Florence. They take up very little packing space. I was happy to find the navy blue option could be purchased in my size(6)from Altrec. All the colors are great - black is good for evening wear. The regular length was just right for my height - 5'7. I also enjoy wearing these pants when gardening for sun protection.
Great travel pants.
November 30, 2009
These are very light weight and stylish for travel. Other people have felt the pants run true to size, but they seem to run a bit large on me. However, the fit is fine, and it leaves more room to gain a few pounds while on vacation!

Great service from Altrec, but Royal Robbins sizing has changed.
June 16, 2010
I own two pair of these cardiff stretch traveler pants in size 6 purchased over the last five years. They are great pants and have held up extremely well. However, The sizing has changed considerably. I just ordered size 6 Regular in the color Bark. The pants look almost exactly the same as previous versions, but they are almost two inches longer than my old size 6. They are also at least 3/4 inch smaller in the waist, rise and hips. So, now I am trying to find a size 8 Short in Bark. There seems to be a shortage. Hopefully they are NOT being discontinued!
