Royal Robbins Women's Zip N' Go Pants
November 10, 2012

I'm almost 6 feet tall and size 16 long. When I order pants online they almost always wind up being too short. These fit perfect. The pants are very well made of comfortable lightweight material. The various pockets of different sizes are useful. The velcro tabs at the inside bottom of the pants allows extra room when detaching the pant legs over hiking boots. The pant leg zippers are well made and the legs are easy to detach or reattach. The elastic waist is comfortable with just enough give. The customer service was outstanding. The first pair I bought were mis-tagged and were too short. Customer service checked with the Royal Robbins factory before shipping the free replacement. I'm buying another pair!

Zip N Go pant
May 08, 2011

Great pants. A little large in the waist. But, very comfortable, and durable. These are the best quality and most versatile brand of Zip and Go pants that I have ever purchased. I have 4 pairs and wear them weekly.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use

I didn't get a chance to wear them because size 12 was too big and size 10 was too small. Also, "short" was still too long for me who wears petite. It's too bad because I really liked the style and the quality was very good. Wished I could've kept a pair.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Cons: odd size

Great product!
April 17, 2005

Very lightweight, comfortable, & sized appropriately. I love all the pockets. Great for all day hikes with temperature changes...just zip the legs off (without taking your hiking boots off) & you've got a great pair of shorts. Got pretty dirty over a weekend camping trip, but cleaned up great in the washer--even wine stains came right out. I highly recommend this product.

Great pockets!
January 11, 2012

Pants fit large, I'm usually between an 8 and a 10, ordered the 8 and probably could have ordered the 6. Ample room in thighs (and I have bigger thighs). Look great as shorts, flap of fabric covers the zipper. Tons of pockets!! Also there are clips deep inside leg pockets for keys, etc. Very well designed. Haven't had long enough to gauge wear and tear, but seem well constructed and durable.

Pros: storage, convertability, well designed, Cons: fits large

Men's features in women's pants
November 27, 2012

These pants have all the good features that many men's pants have. Good deep side pockets. A zipper on one of the cargo pockets. A hidden "billfold" pocket inside the back. Why aren't more women's pants made with such good pockets! I bought these for a self-supported bicycle tour. They are gusseted in the crotch, so I'll be able to wear them comfortably while biking. The material seems very durable. They also have a nice button/tab feature at the ankles so I can keep them from catching on the chain. Nice! The pants are different from other convertible pants in that they use a pleat and a "velcro type" closing system instead of a zipper opening in the bottom of each pant leg to help slide the legs off over shoes. I'm not sure how I'm going to like that....we will see. One nice feature about using a pleat/velcro system instead of zippers on the bottom is that it makes these pants much more easier to hem up if necessary. For short people wanting convertible pants, that makes a difference! The other thing that is different with this pants compared to other convertible pants is that there is no distinction on the upper part of the pants legs as to to which leg is the right leg and which is the left. It's a handy feature on other convertible pants that is not present on these...but it's not enough to take off a star on the rating. Finally, in terms of fit....these pants run REALLY large. I had to return these pants twice to get something that fits....and they are still loose on me! I'm 5'3" and weigh 138. The size 10 short on me is a bit big for me in the waist. I could have gone with an 8. I LOVE the fact that Royal Robbins makes these pants in Short sizing....otherwise, at 5'3" I would have never been able to wear them (unless I hemmed them). It's great to have them be a workable length for me right out of the box.

Works for Honduras
February 02, 2012

Been looking for cool, light weight, durable travel pants for humanitarian work in Honduras. Think I found 'em. The many pockets excite me. I've worn them only once so far and found them more comfortable than any other pants I own. The real test will come in May in the hot and humid Honduran climate.

Pros: Ease of use, Great value

Amazing fit and value

Well designed and thought out product. Of course Altrec delivers it hassle free. A must have for the trek!

Great pant!
December 18, 2009

I am an avid hiker who tried several brands before settling on the Zip "N" Go. These have a great fit, the fabric feels good against your skin, the zippers work well, they clean up well, there are plenty of pockets for hiding small things out of easy reach of pickpockets and the fabric is not see-through, as it is in some of the other brands of convertible pants. The zippers are high enough on the thigh that you won't catch your knees on them when hiking uphill with the zippers partially opened to vent your legs. Two other brands of convertibles were given to me as gifts & neither is as good overall as the Royal Robbins. In fact, I now own 4 pairs of them for use on extended hiking trips.

They are so comfortable
November 04, 2010

They are like wearing nothing. Lightweight, dry fast and feel great. I am not an outdoorsy person but I do love these pants. We travel quite a bit. These pants travel well and do not weigh down the suitcase. I use the pants for everyday outings too.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Ease of use, Great value, lightweight for travel, dries quickly
