Bought this for our first canoe trip with our 5 month old Vizsla. She can swim, but we were concerned about her lack of experience and didn't want her to panic in fast moving water if we capsized. Being a typical squirmy puppy, we thought she wouldn't tolerate the vest, but she ignored it once we were underway. It is well constructed and thoughtfully designed. Thank you for a great product and the peace of mind.

Ordered the XL for my 120+ lb Great Pyrenees- fits well, and gives piece of mind as he's not the smartest swimmer, (swims directly across the river instead of with the current). Kept the L for my 95 lb Cheasapeake- neck a bit small, (velcro doesn't fasten) so have to fasten with the plastic interlocking pieces, which works. The handle allows me to lift her in and out of my kayak while I'm seated, which is important as she is missing a front leg. Floats dogs high in water- no worries.

This float jacket has been a great addition to our summer routine. My dog loves the water, but used to get really tired after being in the water for a little while. However, with the new jacket she can stay in as long as she wants. It also doesn't hurt that the jacket is very stylish. I wish I got this jacket sooner.

Zeus, my boxer mix, has never been much of a swimmer -- his rear end sinks & he starts to panic. He has hip dysplasia & weak knees so swimming is the best thing for him. The 1st time I put on this jacket, he swam the full length of the pool. His chest is getting so big from swimming, I'm afraid he's about to outgrow his large jacket soon!

We have a special needs chocolate lab that loves to float in the lake. Her left elbow is turned inside and she can't use it to swim. After researching several pet PFDs, we decided on this one. It works great, it's comfortable for her, and it helps keep her head above water. The strap is awesome because we have to pull her back up on to the boat. Great product, thanks.

I ordered our one year old golden retriever, Ansel (yes, named for the photographer)a LARGE float coat and it fits him perfect. Ansel weighs 78 pounds. The weather has not cooperated yet this year for us to take him out canoeing, but Ansel loves wearing the vest and walks around in it like he is a doggy model (he will do anything for a laugh).
We just know that this float coat is just what we were looking for.

I have a lab that absolutely loves to swim and you cant get him out of the water. He used to get really tired and sore from swimming so much but with this jacket he can swim much longer and isn't as tired or sore the next day. The handle is amazing for pulling him back up into the boat or on the dock. I would recommend this jacket to anyone who wants a great product for a very reasonable price.

We bought this safety vest for our 2 yr old terrier mix. He loves swimming already, but my husband and I want to take him kayaking with us in San Diego Bay and we're concerned about him falling over board. We measured him according to the website instructions and the vest fit him perfectly. My husband took him out already and tested picking Riley up from mid water and putting him back in the kayak. He said the vest felt sturdy and didn't seem to rub against any body parts uncomfortably. Riley weighs about 45 pounds. We're happy so far and Riley loves being out with us!

I purchased K-9 Float Coat Dog Life Jackets for my two dogs, Catahoulas. One is 35 lbs. and the other 60 lbs. Both jackets fit well. The dogs seem to like them. Although they are natural swimmers, with webbed feet, the little one never liked swimming until she started wearing the jacket. They also work well to help transport the dogs to and from the boat.

I have a 65 lbs black lab, and I don't know how long a dog can swim before exhausting out, but the Ruff Wear K-9 jacket takes that fear away. It's the most rugged and sturdy of all jackets. The handle is placed on the jacket with good balance making lifting my dog into the boat very easy WITHOUT stressing the dog (or me!).
NOTE: The size chart is not perfect. My lab has a 29 in girth which indicates a Medium size, but this was too small. I advise sizing up to the Large for large breeds.
Nevertheless, customer service was flawless in making the exchange. The absolute best customer service of any internet purchase before. I highly recommend this company.

We have an American Pit Bull Terrier, 46 lbs, with wide shoulders. We have tried other life jackets, and they are tight and confining at the shoulders. Also, most others ride too high on the neck, and chafe and choke. But the Float Coat fits perfectly, leaving room at the shoulders, and not riding up at the neck. And it is very attractive, with beautifully crafted details. And our sweet Coco doesn't mind wearing it at all. She can sit and lay down in the boat comfortably, and even sleep in it. I would highly recommend it.

My 80Lb. pit has had this coat for 2 years now. He loves to swim but it was hard for him to really keep his big head out of the water. With the coat he seems to keep his head much higher making it easier for him to swim. He does not mind it at all, he actually brings it to me in the morning. It held up very well until one of the buckles got shut in the car door. I am going to try to fix it but may have to order a new one.

Thank you for this great product! I adopted a 9 year old golden retriever who has never been in the water. He finally learned it was safe to stand on the top steps but wanted to really swim with my 2 other retrievers. After many attempts with out your coat he still couldn't do it confidently. My dog loves the water, but she is part pit bull and swims very low in the water. This float coat has made a world of difference. She is more eager to go in the water and swim around. It's also more reassuring having her on the boat, knowing that if something were to happen, she will stay safe. The handle on the top of the life jacket makes it easy to pick her up in the water and pull her into the boat.

We have an American staffordshire terrior. He weighs 85lbs. We got the large and it fits great. He loves to swim for hours so we decided we felt safer at the lake if he had a lifejacket. This product is well made, sturdy, and I expect it to last my dog's lifetime for sure. As people meniotned, the handle on top of the jacket is extremely helpful for helping my dog out of the water onto the dock, boat, ect. Amazing product- worth the money!

Our 12 yr old yellow lab INDY just spent the week in the surf at the Outer Banks of North Carolina. July 2008. The life jacket fit great and gave him that extra bouyancy to help with some of the bigger waves. It also made me feel better just in case he would over do it. The D ring worked well to use with the leash to go from the house to the beach, and the handle let me pull him up over some of the breakers. He didn't seem to mind wearing it at all.I would highly recommend this product for both the owner's peace of mind and the dog's safety; especially if you have an older dog who doesn't know he's older. :-)

We tried this product for the first time this weekend at the lake. It was a great fit for our 67 lb. weimaraner/chocolate lab mix (we ordered a size medium for her lean build). The handle on top is a lifesaver when trying to lift her back into the boat. I would recommend it to anyone.

I am very impressed with the quality of the jacket. I have three boxers who are taking swimming lessons at the Sterling Rehabilitation Center in Walpole, Mass. Needless to say, my boxers can't swim. This jacket gives them the extra boyancy in the front they need due to their big chests and seems to help them hold up their heads in the water. I have seen an improvement in their swimming since I bought the jacket. I purchased one to try and I am going to need two more boxer size and two boston terrier size.

We have a 70lb Labrador Retriever and initially ordered the large but had to return for a medium. The medium fits her perfectly (she is a trim lab). Even though she is all lab, she a bit tentative about swimming for pleasure so we bought the vest to help her feel more comfortable. The vest does seem to help a she doesn't mind wearing it at all! We get lots of complements about how "cool" she looks in it!

I would like to comment on Bailey's new life vest.. He is our big baby Basset Hound and means the world to my husband Charlie and I... We have just recently moved to Kauai where Bailey does not like to be left out of surfing, paddle boarding or kayaking or even a daily swim... We know it is unusual for a Basset to be such a water dog, but he is... We absolutely love his new vest and the fit is remarkable, we feel very safe with him participating in all of our water activities...He recently jumped off the board in the middle of the Ocean and the vest kept him afloat all the way back to shore. Quiet a swim for his little legs, he shook it off and continued to chase crabs before reentering the water. Bailey is six and 65lbs. and we bought size medium.. He was comfortable right away. we will recommend this jacket to everyone..

Great fits and great service. It's a little cold here, so we haven't had a chance to pitch them overboard. Seriously, though, both dogs are on boats and around "big" water all summer. The jackets make everyone more comfortable. The handle is a great feature - just try getting a dog from water to boat without a vest/handle.

I have 3 Rottweilers who just love to swim in my inground pool. 2 of them have hip problems and swimming is the best therapy for them. I finally purchased one of these for my 8 yr. old German Shepherd, who for her whole life, would not go in over her head and would alway panic and flail if she accidentally lost her footing. After working with her gently with treats and sticks with the vest on, she realized that she wouldn't drown, and now swims like a fish! I wish I had tried this years ago, but at least she can now swim and keep her hips in shape. Better late than never!

We have a golden retiever who has not figured out how to use her hind end for swimming .....you could say she swims like a polar bear and just uses her front feet to paddle.
We shoped around and picked the ruffwear and could not be anymore happier. It is an excellent made vest and our dog loves it. it goes one easy and fits her like a glove. We could see how much happier she is to swim now. And we feel so much more at ease when we take her to the lake. We will be getting another one for our other golden.

We have a Golden Retriever named Madeline, and she will not get out of the water! So when we bought a new boat, instead of worrying about her leaping off the boat unprotected, we bought her the red/black K-9 Float Life Jacket. It snaps on and off very easily and fits her perfectly. She swims for 20 minutes with ease, and just floats when she is done we simply lift her with the handle back onto the boat. This jacket is much better than our old one because it supports her belly. The other one just had mesh, giving her no flotation from underneath. I highly recommend this product!

It fits her well, floats her high in the water and is highly visible (exactly what we need for our busy waterways). It is a bit hard for her to sit/lay with it on, but overall a good buy.

I'm more than glad to write a reveiw of this product! I bought it for my older dog tigger. hes a large dog who just turned eleven. He loves to swim and play fetch at the ocean. recently tigger has been haveing his muscles give out when he plays.(he gets so exitted he doesnt know when to stop). Anyway after a scary trip where I had to swim out because he was so tired he was swimming in cirles and cring in panic, it was a while before I found this product. Tigger loves it! It helps him swim and he loves showing it off. We swam yesterday for over and hour. Tigger didnt want to stop, he even gets upset when I take the vest off! thankyou so much for a great product. This is a great life jacket that fits well, provides great support in the water, and seems not to restrict motion. Our German Shorthair dogs really love to canoe with us and are in and out of the water easily with this jacket.

This jacket fit my newfoundland perfectly. I needed one to fit her body length and hold up her rear to aid in teaching her how to swim. It works beautifully. She loves wearing it. It doe not hinder her movement at all.

The life jacket fit great and is really nice quality(it also matches our boat!) My dog does not mind wearing it at all, and the handle comes in really handy to help him out of the water and into the boat. Our dog is a great swimmer, but it helps him when the water is really rough and the lake traffic is really busy!!
