Best Jacket out there!
I have a corgi/Portugese Water dog mix. He loves the water and we are on the lake ALL day. This jacket is the best one out there! Very Durable, not too bulky, and he can still run around in it due to the way the jacket is designed around the legs. He has worn others before but he seems to not even notice this one is on him. So glad I found this!
We have a french bulldog who was in need of a life jacket. Given the fact that he is a bulldog, it has been very difficult to find a jacket that had a circumference large enough for his chest without being too big everywhere else. He also needed something that had the perfect underside so that he could sit without compromising his comfort (since he is a male!).

Top Quality Product
I have an 18 pound Schnoodle that likes to spend time in the water but would not go to a depth past his chest. We bought a Small K-9 Float Coat and now he swims around like a madman. I highly recommend this well made product for dogs that are a bit unsure of their swimming skills.

Top quality gear from Ruff Wear
I own a mini schnauzer and my brother owns his half sister. I bought one for each in red (yellow was sold out). In the summer we sometimes have to be on rough water and since we wear life jackets in such conditions I realized our dogs should as well. They are well made, seem comfortable, easy to put on and take off, and the grab handle on the top makes it easy to pick them up out of the water. Definitely recommended.

Best K-9 Life Jacket (PFD) on the market ...
My Border Collie loves to go canoeing with me. He swims well, but it is better to be safe – especially when we are far from shore. The Float Coat from Ruff Wear is like all their products, well designed to provide freedom of movement, and to function exactly the way you need them to. Great quality
This is real sport gear, not a toy like some canine float gear. My Welsh Terrier was within the measurements for XS (at 22" girth, 15.5" neck to tail) and it is too small for him. It fits my friend's Lakeland Terrier great, and she'll be using it. I'm ordering a "Small" for my dog. The XS does fit his chest with the straps full out, but the neck is way too tight and it should be longer. I'm hoping the "small" fits even though the "minimum" body length is 16" for that size and he's just under it.

We really love the K-9 Flaot for small dogs...
We ordered one in red for our Piebald Miniature Dachshund, Beaux, about 6 months ago and just recently purchased the yellow for our Brindle Mini Dachshund, Tigger. The Life jackets are amazing and our pups just love the water so we have thoroughly enjoyed having the extra safety for them.

What a great investment. We took our 5lb Chihuahua on her first canoe trip down the river. She seemed very comfortable in her XXS float coat. Made of quality material and a good sound construction! She still does not like to get wet or to swim but at least I know she is going to float should we have an accident!!

Well worth it!!
Well worth it. I have a Boxer that can't swim and it worked wonders. Didn't rub at all, and stayed in place. Handel on top helps allot, I could help him in and out of places and help guide him swimming.

Super Great Product
We have a high energy Jack Russel. The jacket cut and fit is so perfect that he is able to do all his running and swimming without being hindered or creating raw spots on his skin. He wears it all the time with out any problems. We get asked about it every where we go.

The Ruff Wear float coat is great for the kayaking dog.
I looked at all kinds of PFD's for dogs and after seeing the Ruff wear video on the float coat I decided that was the one. It only makes sense to put the flotation material on the bottom. The other brands only have it on the top. This product is excellent in craftsmanship and it works awesome. I bought it for our beagle who kayaks with me. Of course I gave her treats as I put it on her the first time so she would relate it as a positive experience. She doesn't seem to mind having it on at all.

Fabulous product!
I have compared several dog life jackets and this is the best made and the best fit for my dogs. The jackets really work, they aren't just for looks. We do a tremendous amount of boating and I need to be confident that my dogs are safe. The handle is a huge help in getting the dogs from the dinghy to the boat.

The jacket perfectly fits our 10-lb. Japanese Chin. Not only is he safe and comfortable, he looks quite sporty! The handle on the top is great for "relocating" him as needed and the fluorescent cording keeps him very visible. Great design!!

as near perfect as possible
since my stroke; my wife and i got a small house dog companion a japanese chen, at ten pounds he thinks he is the big dog and the alpha male where ever he goes since we bought a lot on the lake for our retirement home which is under construction. being logical and practical we got the dock and boat lift built first and bought a 22ft triton with 150hp engine so we could take the grandkids who live nearby out for boat rides and being pulled on a large inflatable or a knee board even skis occasionally. i am a big believer in safety so everyone who comes on board must wear a personal flotation device last but not least our best little friend needed a vest which fits great and he can wiggle out of. the built in handle on his back is excellent for transfering him up on the inflatable and back onto the dock when we've get in. Saturday was the annual 4th of july fire works show which is best observed from a boat on the lake positioned eqilateral between the three sites of the fireworks display. we invited our son, daughter in law, two grandkids and our builder his wfe their three kids for a cookout on the lot and dock side covered deck and the dog to ride out and watch great show enjoyed by all including the dog who was very relaxed because we were not tense worrying where is dog-- has he fallen overboard? transmitting tension to him. with the k-9 float coat we had no concern for his where abouts or his safety making for a happier outing for all. the designer needs a large pat on the back for balancing snug fit, secure closures and wearabilty, comfort.

These are great for all applications around and in the water. It is important that you make sure to measure the girth of your dog, this is the most important measurement when sizing for the vest. My favorite thing about the vest is how you can grab your dog using the handle on top of the vest and the weight of your dog is distributed evenly so your dog is not pinched or chocked when you lift them up.

fits a chihuahua!
I got the XXS size for my chihuahua. He didn't like it at first, but after awhile, he got used to it, and even figured out that it let him enjoy the water without panicking and dog paddling for his life. He gets excited now when I pull it out, because it means we're going to the lake!

These DFD (doggie floation devices) are the BEST! I have one for each of my two dogs and use them when we go kayaking. I have two Australian Cattledogs - one wears a small, the other wears a medium. No chafing - fit is great. Well worth the $$ to protect your loved ones!

Fantastic PDF for dogs
I recently purchased the K-9 Float coat for my 6.5 lb Maltese and we love it. We canoe on weekends and felt uncomfortable taking Sophie with us for fear if we tipped the canoe, she would drown. Now we feel confident about taking her in the canoe. She runs and plays like she's not wearing anything. And believe me when I say, she's a very tough customer to please. We had tried a couple of other brands, but ended up returning them. She appeared uncomfortable, and refused to walk in them. We are very very happy with our purchase and would highly recommend this PDF for any size dog. It's always better to be safe than sorry....

We bought an XXS life jacket for our 2.8 lb. toy Pomeranian for her first trip to Alaska to go fishing. We were nervous about her falling overboard in the icy cold water. I read reviews of other PFDs for dogs and decided to purchase Ruff Wear's float coat. It fit my medium size dog well, she did not mind wearing it once she realized it made it easier to swim. Other product reviews mentioned that the cut of the PFD bothered their male dog's genitals. Ruff Wear's PFD is cut out past the torso and if properly fitted, should be comfortable for all dogs. I would buy this product again.

Must have for dogs that love the water.
Our 11 pound pomeranian loves to jet ski and boat. His previous life vest was awkward fitting. The K9 Float Coat is perfect. We bought new jet skis and his vest even matches! The handle on the top is awesome and we can leave the vest on and since it fits so well and is so well designed, he can still run around with it on so we always feel safe with him out by the lake. If you don't let him go with you on the ski...he swims out after you.

Awesome! A Must Have!
I can not tell you how much we love these doggie life vests! We have 2 small dogs & they both can swim like most dogs. These just provide a safety. We are boaters & we fly through the water at high speeds & god forbid if one of them were to fall out! This saves them! The features we love are the handle on the back for easy lifting & the hook for their leash. So not only can you walk them before & after the boat ride, you can grab them when they 'accidently' fall over board, they love to 'accidently' fall in :-)

For my CAT
I bought the xxs for my 15 lb tabby cat RC and it fits well except I can't velcro the under neck part but solved that by sewing the quick release buckles to the material so the pad ends meet and it fits and buckles great. Won't throw him in the water to test it but he wears it no problem and the quality seems top notch. I'm sure it will do the job if he ever gets thrown overboard. If you have a boating cat I would recommend this to the cats servants. (LOL)

Good fit is a must to save a life!
I have 2 miniature Dachshounds & the jackets are a bit bulky and awkward, especially around the neck area. I believe there's too much foam in the lower portion of the vest because my dog floats horizontally instead of at an angle with his head slightly higher than his back portion. Also, if you don't get the right size and put it on properly, w/the jacket as close to the head as possible, when the dog tries to turn while swimming he becomes unstable and sometimes even does a complete roll in the water. Not good! Test the jacket in a swimming pool first to become familiar with it. Good fit is a must if needed to save a life!

Not as good as it could be
The vest fit somewhat. There could be some small changes that would make this vest much better. The velcro on the neck could have been changed into a strap with a D ring instead of the strap that is on the neck this strap is even turned the wrong way. The straps under the abdomen could also be changed to velcro straps with D ring this would make the vest quicker to put on, more adjustable, and more secure. The handle on top is a good idea. The vest does not fit well around his neck should have got a larger size.

My Weenie Spent More Time Upside Down Than Rightside Up!!
This life jacket looks like it fits perfectly... very durable. HOWEVER!! My poor mini-weenie did about ten roll-overs before I could get to him!! He spent more time with him nose under the water than above! I defenitley think my dogs were better off BEFORE I decided to try and save their lives with these jackets!! Sorry to leave a bad review, I just had to clear my conscience!
