Sized for diminutive to small dogs, Ruff Wear's K-9 Overcoat™ II features a warm 100-weight fleece liner inside a windproof and water-resistant four-ply Taslan® shell. It's perfect protection in windy, rainy and snowy conditions on walks or around the yard. Ruff Wear redesigned the Overcoat™ with a new integrated chest panel and adjustable side release buckles, improving the fit and enhancing the range of motion. Up top you'll find a light loop for Ruff Wear's Beacon™ a safety light for running and roaming at dawn and dusk.

- XXS measures 11 inches from neck opening; for dogs with a girth no wider than 19 in.
- XS measures 14 inches from neck opening; for dogs with a girth no wider than 24 in.
- Small measures 18 inches from neck opening; for dogs with a girth no wider than 30 in.
Fit Tip: This coat will fit loosely around your pet's waist while fitting snug around their chest. If between sizes on the size chart, choose the smaller of the two sizes.

The fit and finish of this coat is excellent as are its features.
The reflective tape really aids visibility at night and the coats seem plenty warm.

The XXS fits our 7lb. Shih Tzu perfectly with room to adjust as shes a growing girl. Ruff wear is always a winner. The S is tiny bit too large for our 21lb. Lhasa Apso but we'll make due. Make sure to measure the pups before you buy!

We have a 15 pound dachshund that we bought this for. He tends to get quite cold in the deep snow when we are snowshoeing. We originally bought a small but it was too long. Ended up with an XS which fits fine. He is a little hard to fit anyway.
Made well and I expect years of use. Fits well once we got the right size. Doesn't bind his legs at all.

I have a Boston Terrier and I first tried the Cloud Chaser Coat and XS was to tight. Exchanged for Small to large. This coat is perfect in XS has more room to adjust. She loves it. Really something that will last forever. Altrec has the best customer service!!!

We needed something to keep our Boston Terrier warm in the cold Eastern Sierra winters (Mammoth) and found the Ruff Wear K9 Overcoat to be both warm and well-made. Our Boston, Bodie, has a tendency to try and chew what he wears, and the RuffWear overcoat is no match for him! Check the sizing carefully as XS may not be as small as we need.

I got the XXS for my 5-pound little dog. She loves to run around outside in the snow but needs multiple layers to keep warm. This is a great little jacket that keeps her tummy warm.

The XXS fits my mini pinscher mix great. The back is a little short but my dog loves it. It keeps him warm and everyone asks about the jacket. Warm fleece on the inside and great durable fabric on the outside.

This is a well build jacket. The outer shell seems pretty tough and the inside is made out of felt. It Has a nice reflector down both sides. I ordered the size small in blue. I have a Basset hound and a welsh corgi. It fits them both perfect. I like this jacket so much I ordered a red one also. It even has a little spot where you can hook a small flasher to the top of the jacket. If I had more dogs I would get them one too.

I ordered both an xxs and an xs in this coat. They are wonderful coats, warm and water repellent, but the xxs has a head opening that is too small and my Papillon won't let me put it on him - I have had to use the xs on him with the larger head hole, even though it is a bit large for him and the side straps are too long for his thin body shape. Wanted to order another xs for our Havanese, but you sold out - shucks!

Our maltese, Chooch, now gets his coat before we go outside. We spent Christmas in the High Country in Colorado where temperatures were below zero for two weeks, and the protection for a six pound dog was immeasurable. The coat is handsome on him and more importantly, functional.

This was the perect solution for our short hair beagle during our Xmas escape to winter wonderland. With the coat she was toasty warm as it keep the heat from escaping off her back and the shielded the falling snow. Definitely a good purchase for your dog.

This is a great jacket! It's easy to get on and off, and (very important) the jacket protects his hair from getting caught in the buckles. There is a reflective stripe for night walking safety. From the suggested sizing I chose "small", although my spaniel/beagle, best pal would normally wear a medium. The size is great for him, so believe the sizing chart! It conforms to a doggie's body and covers, well, his back and upper legs. He looks sharp, and not the least bit silly, in his coat.

This is a great jacket for dogs. Very warm, easy to put on, comfortable for the dog, fleece inside and water proof outside. Highly recommended.
Anonymous - 2009-04-07Head opening too small
The length was great and the side straps cinched up tight but the head opening was too small for my dog(American Staffordshire). I had it altered by a local seamstress and that did the trick but to the tune of $16.00 I'd like to see the design changed to accommodate dogs with larger heads and necks. I contacted Ruff Wear but they didn't seem too interested in my concerns. It is nice but that is one large flaw.

I have the life vest from ruff wear as well as this coat for my very active Jack russel. Both products are great quality, they are tough for hard use and they look good. I think this coat is great, a durable weather proof shell with a polar fleece lining.
Kathy - 2007-12-21Had trouble with the buckles
The good points are the coat itself is quality made, I think it could have a heavier liner in it though, and I like the reflective strips.
I bought the coat for my Miniature Pincher/Rat Terrier cross, First, I got one that was too big, so had to go with a extra small.
We live in Minnesota, I wanted something that would keep him warm. When it was really cold, he shivered with or without the coat on. I do think it helped, but it could be alot better.
Then we could not keep the buckles latched to keep the coat on the dog, It would always slide to one side, every time we put it on the dog. I even tied the ends to help, but it didn't work.
Too bad there isn't someway to hold the back down, Everytime he would put his head down, the back of the jacket would go up.
The dog got fed up with the jacket sliding around yesterday, when he was tied up, and took it off himself, and chewed one buckle up.
Looks like $50 got me a poorly designed coat, to keep the dog warm about a month, and we have ALOT more cold weather to come yet this year. I won't buy another one. But I do like the company, they have great customer service. I have no problem with them. I just don't like the coat, and neither does Rico.
