Great Product
April 14, 2011

Wonderful! Took the dog out hiking with these boots this past weekend. The trail was covered with gravel, and my dog's feet came back in the just the same shape as when we left! If your dog's foot measurment is exactly a size the boots come in, I would opt for the next size larger. Overall, this is a fabulous product. Would recommend to anyone, and purchase again!

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Great value

Good protection
April 09, 2010

These boots were just what my dog needed to protect a sore paw until he figured out how to undo the velcro. Also, since his feet are much larger in the front (Great Dane) it would have been nice if I could have ordered just 2 boots at one size and then another size. I ended up settling for a size that was just a little too tight on his front paws, otherwise, the boots were too loose on his back paws.

My New Kick's
April 03, 2011

My Mom and Dad got me these as I can only get around using a K-9Cart due to medical reasons. All other boots or booty's wore out in a matter of several walks. So far the Bark'n Boots Grip Trex Footwear have not shown any wear after several walks. I would reccomend these boots to all active dogs, And they have Vibram Soles!!!!! Outdoor tested ! Brooklyn

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of use, Great value, stylish

Excited about trying this product out.

Looking forward to having my dog back on the hiking trails!

Fun in the snow
July 09, 2010

Overall: My dog liked the boots. They stayed on. Which is a plus for dog boots. And she adapted quite quickly to having them on her feet. She could run jump, walk just fine... The only problem we found: on long hikes (i.e. multiple miles), they rubbed on the top of her paws. In some cases, creating a slight abrasion. If used for shorter hikes... they were good.

Saved Our Runs!
June 12, 2010

So excited about the boots! Due to the Mississippi heat, we had to postpone our daily runs in the summer. Now with the boots, we can go any time of the day! My dog is fine with them on his feet, especially when he knows we are getting ready to exercise!

not small enough or just poor fit for small dogs
December 26, 2010

I bought these for my 21lb, 19"-girth JRT. He is by no means a tiny dog, but the XXS was still too large. The dimensions of his feet were well within the range of the sizing chart. However, they would not stay on, even tho 1) I cranked them down as tight as I could, and 2) I tried using them with the ruff wear socks to beef them up a bit. No dice. One good launch and the boots would come flying off. The quality of these things is amazing. The look like they would last forever. If they made these one size smaller, or designed them to taper at the ankle a bit more, I'd would buy these again immediately. Pete and I are really bummed that we can't use them.

Not recommended for really small dogs
November 11, 2010

I bought an XXS for my maltese. They were way too big and so stiff that he didn't have the muscles at all to make them bend or use them at all. I would only get these for really strong dogs.

Disappointing!!
June 01, 2010

There are two primary reasons to buy dog booties - to protect your dog's feet from rocks or ice - and they work for neither environment. We bought these for a trip to the Eastern Sierras early in the season when many of the trails would still have snow. The design of the booties is awful for snow / ice conditions. As our dog's feet sank in the snow (and she only weighs 40 lbs), the velcro straps weren't holding so the velcro would drag in the snow and get covered in snow. As soon as that happened, the velcro wouldn't stick anymore and the booties kept falling off. Every 10 min, we'd have take off the booties to melt the snow off the velcro so they'd stick. There's also a gap at the back of the booties that allows ice to get in behind the dog's paw. The rubber bottom also doesn't give the dog enough grip when climbing over rocks. Our dog took several face plants due to the booties. We finally took them off thinking torn up feet were better than a broken neck. My last complaint is the fit on the front feet. If your dog has its dewclaws (the "thumb" claw on the front feet), the booties rub against it. In summary: very poor design. We have already thrown these booties away as utterly useless.

lost boots
February 25, 2010

The boots are for walking and hiking but the running around and kicking up your heels dog loses them a lot. It would be nice to have some way of locating them when they fly off. She is down to three boots. We lost them in the snow twice but my dog found them that time, it was in heavy brush and we didn't find one.

Snow
April 14, 2010

Great Idea that needs more engineering! Took my babies up to a snow/wet area and the boots seemed to be working fine; however, one fell off in a puddle of water and I couldn't keep the others on my babies for more than 20 minutes

Need to be taller
April 25, 2011

These fit well on the base of the foot, but are not nearly tall enough. They fly off when my dog (border collie mix) runs, even with the socks and on the tightest velcro setting. I am keeping them, and hoping to add some elastic and velcro for added height.

Great Idea
July 22, 2011

We love the dog shoes, and because we go to a rocky beach, we thought use of the shoes would extend the time we could spend with our dog there. The first day our dog loved them. The next day she wouldn't walk once I put them on. I couldn't find a sore spot, but knew by her actions there was one. One problem may be that dogs with dew claws need higher socks. The socks ride down. We will definitly try these again next time out. She ran, swam, jumped and had a great time in these shoes. We were on rocky Lake Superior for 3 hours, with constant swimming and running. The shoes stayed on good, but the rear shoes tend to twist around if your dog often changes directions while running (fetch, etc.) Perhaps this twisting irritated the dew claws also. I'd love to try longer socks to see if this helps. Those rocks really bruise a dogs feet!

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of use, Cons: Cost

LOVE these boots!
September 07, 2010

Our black lab/border collie mix lives for hiking the mountains in Maine. Recently, he had been having issues with the pads on his paws and ripping them up on the rocks. We ordered these boots and our dog loves them as much as we do! The customer service was amazing & we would definitely use this company again!

Awesome shoes!
September 13, 2010

These were a great buy. My dog would run around the pool until her pads bled, but after I bought the Grip Trex, that was a thing of the past. At first she walked around kind of funny with them on, but after just a couple of minutes of distracting her with the ball, she forgot they were even on her. So now when break out her shoes, she gets excited cause she thinks were going to do something fun. Ruff Wear makes some of the best gear for dogs!

Great product
May 24, 2010

this was such a great buy. My American Pit Bull loves them. We can go hiking and run through rocky terrain without worrying about her little feet getting all cut up. Definitely size your dogs feet to make sure they fit right. Also purchase the boot liners too for a snug fit.

Did not stay on
March 23, 2010

I did research on this product before deciding to spend the money by reading TONS of reviews. Most were positive and claimed that the boots stayed on better than other brands. I couldn't even get out the door with my dog (red heeler) without her tossing two or more of the boots. I tried them with and without the socks. I will be returning the boots and trying a different brand.

We are going to take our dog hiking and thought these would be great for protecting his feet. He hated them. We tried several times to put them on, but he wouldn't have it. Our dog is only 18 pounds and we bought the xxs. They fit great, but he will be going hiking without shoes.

March 09, 2010

Our pug was getting sore toes from all of the hard and crunchy snow. So sore in fact, that they would bleed. We got the Bark'n Boots and they fit really well and he had no problem at all with wearing them. Now he can run through the snow with the best of them!

My Cavalier King Charles loves these boots!!!
July 06, 2010

My puppy learned very quickly that the boots protect his feet and that it means he gets to go for walks no matter the weather conditions!!! These are great for hiking in the forest protecting my dogs feet from tree sap and other sticky non-dog friendly substances that can get stuck in his furry paws. Bottom line is that he LOVES his boots!

Belle loves her boots!
January 26, 2011

My dog, Belle, would run away from me every time I attempted to put on her old PAWS booties and they were very difficult to get on her huge puppy-like paws. Looking for alternatives, I decide to give these Bark'n Boots boots a try. I also purchase the Bark'n Boot Liners as recommended by others. I think the liners are a good call because I think the boots would not fit as well especially on her hind paws. On the first walk, it was clear Belle loved the feel of the Bark'n boots and liners because she joyfully ran the entire way. She does not usually run, much less so exuberantly. After Belle's first walk with the boots and liners it has not been difficult to get her cooperation to put them on -- she just lays on her bed. What a difference! We have had the boot and liners only a few days but the boots seem to be very well made. It does take some practice to get the boots on tight enough. One boot fell off on the first walk but we seem to have the hang of it now. Just for reference...Belle is a lavender beagle about 23 pounds.

Fits too large. Wears down fast
May 18, 2011

I purchased these for a 90 pound lab mix. I measured the paw as instructed by the manufacture. They fit too large and after one bike ride the soles are already worn down. They also slide around too much. maybe I need to try a smaller size. I ordered large. maybe I need a medium

Pros: Ease of use, Great value, Cons: Wears quickly, Low performance

Wonderful boots for my dog
November 15, 2010

I got these for my Great Pyrenees who had started to wear the pads of his paws down while hiking. We measured for the paws as described before ordering - the paw part fits great though he has skinny ankles to we have to cinch the strap down as far as it will go to keep them on. Once that is done they are fantastic. He loves hiking in them and they are very durable. Another thing we really like is that they are reflective, which we didnt realize when we bought them, but was fantastic when hiking around dusk! No more worries by us about his pads. We like them so much we are getting another pair for his sister. Highly recommended for the dog who loves to hike!!

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use, Cons: size differential between paw and ankle

Time has told!
May 29, 2010

My initial reaction to these dog boots was that they were great. Now that our golden retriever has been wearing them for over a month, I think so highly of them that I ordered a second pair. Not only do they stay on my dog's paws but also they are rugged and hardly show any wear at all. These are simply the best outdoor dog boots I have found.

Good fit
October 18, 2010

Got out the ruler and measured his paw, fits nicely, but wish there was an extra strap at the ankle to really secure the fit. Quality seem good, but time will tell, only had it for 2 weeks and haven't really test it out yet as he's still getting used to it.

Brilliant Boots, delighted I found them!
April 01, 2011

I purchased these boots for my Great Dane, who has a condition affecting his hind leg mobility -- causing him to scrape his toenails to the quick so they were bleeding on walks. These boots -- as opposed to others I tried first -- have a soft upper that is loose so that you can quickly and easily siip them on, rather than struggling to wrest them over the feet of an impatient dog. When they are in place, there is an attached Velcro strap that cinches up the material for a snug and secure fit. The bottoms are of an extremely tough, durable hard rubber with treads that provide excellent traction. They are also designed with a 'flex-point' at the back of the dog's foot that prevents the foot from slipping in the boot as the dog is walking. Other boots I tried, constructed like sturdy one piece 'mittens', continually slid down my dogs feet and had to be adjusted. After a week of twice a day walking, there are no visible signs of wear. They are also easy to clean. My dog and I LOVE them and would recommend them to anyone.

Good boots for the job
January 17, 2011

Overall I was happy with these boots. They do their job. I was surprised that my dog was a size XS. She's a 40lbs dog so I don't normally consider her a XS size in anything. So I highly encourage you to measure before you buy. We had to exchange to get the right size. My dog walks ok in them, she doesn't like to run in them yet. I think it's because she's still breaking them in. However, we usually walk a mile in them with no problems. They stayed on as long as you wrap them nice and tight. I would recommend these. They are of good quality and durable.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Cons: Cost

Happy Feet!
March 15, 2010

These puppy boots are a saving grace! Not only do they protect sweet feet during the snow season, but they keep Mama happy during the mud season! They're easy to dry and clean...and I actually believe that they enjoy the attention they get when they wear them!

My dogs gait, when he runs, causes the shoes to drag and the ensuing faceplant is brutal to watch.

Love our new shoes!!
June 25, 2010

Excellent boots. We purchased these for one of our Malamutes who recently had hip surgery. Without his new shoes, our hardwood and tile floors would most likely put him back in the hospital. He seems to really like wearing them, too...and I know they're comfy (otherwise he'd have chewed them off). I'd give them 5 stars if we could just figure out how to keep the soles from flipping to the top of his foot! All in all, we're very pleased with these adorable boots.

Too Short
January 11, 2011

I Sized per Ruff Wear's website and purchased from Altec for my 46 lb Lab Mix. Her paws are 2" wide, put her legs are too long so the boots didn't come close to staying on when strapped. Ruff Wear advised me that they have gotten a lot of these same feedback and will be redesigning the boots to be 'longer' to accommodate a greater number of average dogs. They told me the redesigned product will be out on the market April 2011 and to wait till then to buy. Altrec was great and I have returned them. will repurchase the redesigned ones in April 2011.

Cons: wait for redesigned product

Great dog booties
April 22, 2011

I was skeptical about buying these boots as they only cover the foot but the velcro straps adjust perfectly. They are very flexible with a moderate heavy rubber sole. I also bought the socks because my Lab still has his dew claws and I am glad I did as the socks go above the claw and make it easier slipping the foot into the boot. My dog works at disaster sites and needs a lightweight, flexible boot to protect his feet. These are great...even for running through the field during play time!

Bark'n Boots GripTrex Footwear for Dogs
November 23, 2012

Very Well made product. Highly recommend going to the company website and reviewing the page that talks about acclimating dogs to this product, good info. there. Need to be quite tight or they will slip down or off. Best to stop and check every few miles. Would give it 5 stars if they would stay on better. Not sure that is physically possible; maybe that's asking too much.

Excellent Boots for my big dog!
May 11, 2010

I was a little skeptical these would work, but so far these boots have been just the thing my 115 lb Scottish Deerhound needed. He had a back injury and now sometimes drags his toes. He's had bloody nail beds as well as torn a toe nail off. It actually makes him pick up his feet more because of the feel of the boots. But so far they've worked great for walks over all kinds of terrain. He has a terrible habit of jumping up and down when he sees other dogs and wants to play. The other boots I was using would cause him to slip - but so far these have pretty much stayed on. Make sure to use the socks, cinch them up tight and roll the sock over the top of the boot - that does help.

The best dog shoes you will find!
September 10, 2010

We have purchased these shoes for three dogs and they all wore them WONDERFULLY! A little funny dance when they first put them on, then within no time the dogs forgot they were even wearing shoes. We live in Laughlin, Nevada -- one of the hottest cities in the nation -- dogs need shoes, summer temperatures reach 130 degrees, can you imagine how hot the ground is? We just ordered these for our new dog -- Gerty, a 9 pound schnoodle -- the xx small is too big and we had to return them. We are very disappointed she will have to go without, instead she wears some fairy looking prissy little dog shoes, that aren't worth a darn. Ruffwear -- help us little dogs out, we need a xxx small!

Great, so far
May 11, 2010

These boots are superior to anything you can get in the hunting/sporting stores. I followed the fitting guide and they go on perfectly. He has been running around in them outside since I received them. He has only lost one boot when it got stuck in a fence. I have not had him out in a river or the lake and I'm curious to see how they handle wet. It was also hilarious to watch him get used to the boots! Only took a few times out.

Snow boots!
December 11, 2010

I was very pleased with the pricing, fast shipping and overall ease of purchasing these doggie booties. My Boston Terrier is a senior and not fond of cold weather. The boots help protect his paws from the snow and he can still get exercise when it's cold outside. Putting booties on a dog is kind of weird so it may take a few tries for your dog to get used to them. Be sure to use the sizing guide to get the correct fit. If you go on long hikes you might want dog socks to avoid chafing. But for my little guy the booties are fine for short walks and bathroom breaks in the snow. I had done quite a bit of research to find the most suitable boot and was happy to find it here at Altrec! I recommend this product just get the correct size so they aren't too big.

Hiking or Regular wear for your K9
June 05, 2011

I have been eying on this item for quite some time now and was very skeptical to get them because the price was too high and was not sure how good they were for my doggie (Boston Terrier). Once i saw them on sale here i decided to get them, boy was I grateful to get them. First: The shoes and velcro (adjuster) comes all in one so it is not like the cheap looking ones (although still very expensive) that have the shoe and velcro separated, this makes the shoe easy to carry and just worry to find the shoes itself. Second: This item comes with a bag to store the shoes, it is made out of a thick material so it will keep dirt within the bag. Third: FOLLOW the recommended size chart.

The best we've tried....
May 17, 2011

This purchase was our third try with dog shoes....we have a 150 lb Greater Swiss who is 7 years old. He drags his front feet when he walks and scrapes his knuckles and toes. Since we like to walk daily, finding something to protect his feet was a must. We began using the toughest version of ultra paws which worked but they are not as rugged as the Grip Trex and just didn't hold up in spite of lots of shoe goo. Neo paws were tougher but not right for our dog....they were harder to put on and in spite of the long strap to secure them, they were clumsy to walk in .... he kept tripping and eventually they fell off. I wasn't excited about spending even more $ on another experiment but I took a chance on Grip Trex. I decided to buy the socks also and give the shoes a fair shot. We have been using them for a couple of weeks now - daily - and are very relieved that we found something that works for us. They are easy to put on and our dog seems to walk and run easily with them on...also....the rubber on the toes has held up incredibly well in spite of a lot of dragging. I like the socks also and we use them each time...although they seem to run a little smaller than the shoes. I would get one size larger next time...

Bark N Boots
November 03, 2011

These are nice quality dog boots. Definitely the best I have seen. They certainly aren't perfect, and there is some adjustment time for the dog. My dog hated them at first. Of course, how funny they look walking in them at first more than made up for that to me. They are very large, I recommend getting a size smaller, and also getting the socks to go with them. Once the dog gets used to them, the boots are a very useful product for snow and other elements. But don't get them too large and put them on nice and snug, you don't want to lose one of these.

barkin boots too short

My dog needs the extra inch to get his big feet in. I would recommend them if your dog has short, fat feet. The Xlarge used to be the right size (6.5 inches), but now I don't know what to order.

Best Dog Booties
December 26, 2012

These booties are by far the best we've purchased. They are sturdy and stay on even in deep snow. We have two pair of the older version of the booties and one new pair. The older version, purchased four years ago, is a bit longer than the new version, but the new version has better closure via the Velcro strap. Both versions are very sturdy. We have three large pups--a Bouvier, and two Black Russian Terriers (BRT)--one is a six-month old puppy with huge paws. Our Bouvier wears the medium old style booties, the adult BRT wears the XXL old style booties, and the BRT puppy wears the new style booties in XL--purchased via Altrec. All three of our pups love to romp in deep snow, but because of their fur, they always develop painful ice clumps. Aside from preventing those, these booties also protect their paws from any salt and chemicals, and they are especially useful on hikes where the terrain is rough. They also keep paws clean and dry for the most part. The booties are extremly sturdy. Our adult BRT drags his legs as he walks (saunters) and so far his booties have lasted a full three years--this is his fourth year of wearing them. We usually put them on when it's really muddy out, when there's snow on the ground (about 4-5 months out of the year), or when we go hiking on rough terrain. A couple of points with regard to putting them on: The Velcro strap has to be pulled (cinched) really tight at the ankle, otherwise the booties will turn or they might come off. All fur should be moved out of the way of the Velcro strap as it is closed and the strap should be completely smoothed down to prevent it from coming lose. We have had no issues with cutting off circulation. When the booties are first put on, all dogs walk funny, but as soon as they get outside, they forget they have them on and run and walk normally. The pup that wears the new style booties had an issue with rubbing/chafing on one leg, so we use inserts with him. That solved the problem. The inserts stay above the edge of the bootie and prevent any chafing. The other two pups are fine without the inserts. Ruff Wear used to offer booties in XXL, but no longer does. We found that the new XL booties fit like the old XXL booties. Measuring the paws before purchasing the booties is critical, otherwise they might not fit properly and turn or come off. Although most dogs have different sized front and hind paws, the size for the front paws is usually okay for the hind paws as well, since the Velcro strap allows for extra cinching. The booties should be large enough to allow for a comfortable fit over the paw. It's better for the bootie not to fit too tight and potentially pinch the paw inside. Caring for the booties is easy. They can be rinsed and hung up to dry. We've also machine washed them in cold water with mild detergent, and then hung them up to dry. Most often, after a romp in the snow, we just lay them out to let them dry. We've done a lot of research and previously used other brands of booties. These are by far the best for meeting our pups' needs. The two points that make these booties better than others we've tried is that they definitely stay on when put on right, and they are extremely sturdy.

Pros: stay on; sturdy, sturdy, protect paws from ice snow chemicals, keep paw clean and mostly dry

I lived in New Mexico and taking my dog for a walk was painful for her poor feet. She would run to the shady spots on the sidewalks. Once I put the booties on her, she walked great. She new it was walk time when I got the booties out too. It did not take her long to get used to them either. I highly recommend these especially for hiking in areas where there are cactus too!

Great for rocky terrain
March 03, 2010

Purchased these for my fox terrier because the shoreline at the lake near us has very rough rock. All ruff wear products are well designed and rugged. B sure to measure paws well tighter is better, and break them in by going for walks around the neighborhood before hitting the trails, 25 pounds and less are a little stiff, smaller dogs may have more trouble. Keep an eye out for a missing boot, they can come off over time. They do float.

December 29, 2010

my girlfriends dog is an older golden retriever, which has some hip problems and needed these for traction. At first glance they seemed very well made(better than others we had checked out) and performed awesome as far as his added traction on hardwood and outside... then within a week 2 booties have tears in them right where the two fabrics meet on top of the foot. Was going to order a pair for my lab mix but returning these now, plus they are not cheap.. was very disappointed!

There's nothing else like it
September 07, 2011

My doggie is on his 3rd boots. This is by far the best boots we've ever used. The sole is made up of rubber that absorbs impact when running on asphalt and concrete. Being in the city, my doggie spends a lot of his time running on asphalt and concrete and it's been good for both of us. For him, he doesn't step on car oil slick and for me I don't have to spend much time cleaning his feet. It's a win-win situation. Just be aware that after a while the boots will need replacements. My doggie has worn out the soles several times.

Pros: Build quality, Performance, Cons: Cost

Walked my 100 lb. lab every day this winter with some days under 0 degrees F and he did not have cold feet! Bought a cheap pair of off brand ones first that did not last a week without getting holes. The ruff wear boots are 8 months old and still look new!

Great Fit and Easy to Use
February 23, 2011

I live in the Northeast portion the country, lots of snow and cold weather. The dog I use the boots on is weighs 12 pounds, a MaltiPoo. It only took a few time for him to get used to wearing the boots. Before he wore the boots he could not stay out long in the snow. Now with the boots and a down winter jacket he is an "outdoor" dog. I am very pleased to have found a boot that is easy to put on and take off. I would recommend this to others. I purchases the XXS boot for him.

These are the most sturdy thick boots, very high quality, but i ordered a small for my 70lb golden and they were still a bit big but i think they will work once she gets used to them but she probably could wear a xs, i also ordered a xxs for my shihtzu he is 20lbs and they were slightly big on him too if they made a xxxs it would have been perfect, but if you tighten the velcro all the way they stay on

Bark'N Boots - Hot to Trot!
September 14, 2011

My St Bernard, Nick has worn other protective boots. The Bark'n Boots are of extreme quality and fit his large paws very well. Nick got used to the boot immediately and seemed to prance around showing off his new boots. The rubber protective tread will protect his paws against the salt and ice during the tough Chicago winter season.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of use, Great value, Cons: sizing is a bit large

boots come off in the snow
February 25, 2010

The boots a great and well made, but the boots for the hind legs come off easy in the snow and hard hard to find. I think I need to put the socks on too to prevent the boots from coming off. The smaller size boots need some redesign to fasten better to the dogs feet, the single velcro wrap does not seem secure enough.

So far, so good....
April 18, 2010

These just arrived. I followed the Ruff Wear instructions for paw measurement and the medium seems to fit my male golden retriever snugly, as recommended. My dog is used to wearing booties both in the house and out. These seem to be solidly constructed and should last for some time, I hope. Time will tell.

Great quality vibram boots!!! This boots are great, my dog's feet stay so warm and snow does not get inside the boot. The fit is true to size. My dog is a miniature schnazuer who loves the Michigan snow and the XXS are great for her. The first day she wore them she had a hard time walking at first, but quickly adapted to them. She enjoys wearing them now since they give her more traction. The only negative is that one of the boots gave her a small raw spot on her paw.

For Rough Places and Cold or Hot Surfaces
November 10, 2010

I purchased these boots after Tahoe stepped on a piece of glass while hiking in our local state park. They are top notch in quality and seem to wear well - though we haven't used them that much. When I first put them on him, Tahoe looked at me as if to say, "Now what are you doing to me, Mom?", but he learned to walk in them in a matter of minutes. I pushed too hard the first time we used them, and, after about an hour, he refused to go further until I took them off. So lesson learned: break your dog in gradually to using the boots. The best application for these are for use on snow or hot surfaces, or on rocky and rough surfaces to protect the pads. I'm looking forward to Tahoe using them when I go to Moab next year!! Another note: I found that they stayed on his feet well, though he could shake them off if he really tried.

2011 Bark'n Boots
June 27, 2011

These boots may protect your dog's paws from getting torn up but there is a lot of room for improved design, especially since they are expensive. I think it is a bit of a rip off, I'm not allowed to say how much I paid for them (full retail price), but know that pet owners deserve more, a LOT more, for what we pay. It's almost criminal when taking into consideration how little material is used to manufacture this product. Questions to ask oneself before purchasing these boots: 1. Will this product do more harm than good for my dog? 2. How does wearing boots may affect a dog's bone and muscles? 3. Will boots give my dog back pain, or discomfort in the joints? As far as the product is concerned, the build quality is very good and they use pretty durable materials. Also, the liners and boots are very easy to put on and adjust. My gripe is with the design: for my dog, a 21 lb. Miniature Schnauzer, the boot doesn't fit well enough to keep his pads from rubbing against the smooth insides of the boot when he was walking, this Also, the boots don't always stay in the right position, sometimes they rotate left or right and come off the paw if not Velcroed VERY tightly. They can make a much better fitting boot if they wanted to.

High quality boots
November 16, 2010

We use these boots (only one) with the liner socks for a husky that has a permanently injured back paw. Without the boot, the dog hops and doesn't use the leg. With the boot, he runs on any surface without any problems. These are high quality, easy to put on, and our dog does not have a problem wearing them. The only durability issue we encountered is the boot rotating 180 degrees and then wearing out because it is upside down -- I believe this only occurs because of my dog's paw shape -- I don't think it would happen on a full paw. Recommend these to protect paws on any rough surface. Like these better than the Skyliner boots by same company.

These are amazing. My tender footed black lab has gone from carefully picking her way up Lone Mt. to running full bore! She no longer walks slowly on our desert landscaped front yard, but leaps and bounds out the front door, with nary a care in the world that something will pierce her tender paws. She very quicky adapted to having these boots on. However, tracing her paw, and ordering a Large per the instructions, was a mistake for us. They do fit width-wise, but are much to long. Even floppy long. Causing her a hiccup or two during a walk. But I love them so much I am ordering another pair, a size smaller and will just keep the others as emergency back-ups in the truck.

These boots did not fit well forr my 23lb dog. I got the smallest size that matched his foot measurments, but even with the liner socks and cinched as tight as I felt I could, the boots would start to slide within less than a mile of running. They also noticeably changed his running gate. Plus the rubber toe tips would catch the ground and cause him to stumble. I think I'll just try less durable sled dog booties instead.

Bought for our larger Aussie but
February 10, 2011

They weren't even close to fitting our larger Australian Shepard so I put them on our mini Aussie. They fit good on him, but I measured like the fit guide said, and they weren't even close to fitting the intended dog. I ordered the smalls according to the dogs pad size 2.5". Once I put the dog shoes on our little guy, I was constantly having to watch them as they kept flying off. I couldn't keep them on no matter how tight I cinch them down. It's been a waste of money for me, so I wouldn't recommend them. I then bought the bark'n boots skyliners which stay on a little better, but we've lost one of those already too.

Bark'n Boots are great
November 07, 2011

We bought the Ruff Wear Bark'n Boots for our 10 month old 67 lb. Golden Doodle for runs in the desert. We'd taken him out earlier for free runs in the desert and he always seemed to get a cactus spine in a paw at some point. As a result he got hesitant to run in the desert, but with his Bark'n Boots our Doodle now gets excited about his runs. As soon as we take out the boots and socks he's eager to go. The area we go in has sandy trails and some of the sand does get in the top of the boots between the socks and the inside of the boot, but this doesn't seem to bother him at all. Bark'n Boots and socks are great in our experience. - We had a (smaller) pair of Bark'n Boots for a previous dog and they are as good as new after several years of use.

Pros: Lasts forever, Performance, great for desert runs, Cons: some sand comes in over the top of the boot someti

I have a pair of these for one of my Boston Terriers that loves the snow. They are well made and durable. I ordered another pair this year for my other dog. Be aware that the sizing on these has changed and I unfortunately had to send them back because they were too big.

Pros: durable, nice looking, fit well

Good Looking Boots
August 05, 2010

I have two chihuahua mixes and both have about max, 1.75 inch width paws. The xx-small acually fits them quite well but sometimes one of the boots fall off occasionally. I think if they were use to it, it would stay on since they aren't kicking like crazy trying to get it off and biting the straps. They're both still trying to get used to these boots, but on walks they make clean up a breeze!
