Won't stay on feet.
January 16, 2011

Whoever mentioned to order a size smaller is right. I have a 95 Rottweiler who normally takes a large in the grip trex boot takes a medium in this boot. Also the boots will not stay on her feet, they kept falling off. I gave up and sent them back. I think the plastic clasp is the problem, that was a bad choice. They should either go back to velcro or do a metal clasp with teeth to make sure they stay snug. Other than that they are a really nice boot. Hopefully they will redesign it and come up with something better.

Great Bootie if it stays on
January 10, 2011

We have 2 other low cut pairs of Trex booties that work great except for hitting our dogs dew claws. The Polar trex should have worked great - fantastic quality. However no matter how we cinched them we could not keep them on our golden retrievers paws. We are very disappointed as they have the best potential of any booties we've seen to work well in winter conditions.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Ease of use, Great value, Cons: can't keep them on

Great quality construction-- the soles are very durable, yet flexible. The toggle is a nice feature so they can be tightened at the top. The fit was too large. I am exchanging them for a smaller size.

would not stay on!
April 17, 2011

I could not keep the buckle closed and secure on my dog, therefore all four of these boots would fall off after some running. Besides that problem, the quality of the materials seemed great. Just needs a secure closure system. Sent them back after one trial wear.

Fall Off Boots
March 14, 2011

We purchased these boots for our dog's big trip to the snow this season. Last winter his pads cracked and bled. So, we wanted to protect them this time around, and purchased these boots. The boots look very stylish on my dog, and were very easy to slip onto his feet. The traction is good...my dog didn't even slip on the same ice we found ourselves gliding on. When it came to walking around town, these boots worked well. They stayed on his feet, and he had no bleeding pads. But when it came to playing in the snow, the lower buckle kept coming undone, and the boots would slip off. After a while, we ended up taping the buckles down and wrapping tape around the boots to make sure they didn't fall off. I think the boots need a more secure buckle and perhaps even a wrap around velcro so they don't fall off during snow play.

Great for hikes
September 15, 2011

Best used on long hikes. Pups will slip out of them at a full on sprint. Great quality. Bought the socks also that helped the boots stay on more secure.

Excellent quality
January 29, 2013

The quality of the boots is very good. Unfortunately I had to return this set for the next size smaller. The strap system is secure and the pull tight draw string around the top of the boot does a great job at keeping snow out of the boot. It is important that you get the right fit. If the boot is too big for the dog's foot then the dog will through them off when running and/or pull them off with ease.

PolarTrex Footwear for Dogs
January 06, 2011

These boots do take some getting used to on my part and on the dogs. They are more durable than prior boots and provide better traction on the road but must be tied just so. It took several times to figure out the required tension so as to ensure they stayed on but also not twist the dew claw. We basically had to cinch them as tight as possible but ensuring the dew claw doesn't get twisted. If your dog is in between sizes then size down for a better fit. I think one of the dog's boots are actually a bit big. (she is a large girl 78lbs and her foot met the size guidelines for a large but I think a medium would be better, our boy is 92 lbs and they fit him fine.) The boots do provide superior traction on slippery terrain and superior protection from the elements and salt. I also think once we get used to them, they will be easier to get on than the prior boots.

Pros: Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, durable bottom, Cons: Cost, challenging to the fit right the first few times.

Great Winter boot, but fits too large
February 28, 2011

I recently purchased a set of these boots since I had a great experience with the Ruffwear Grip Trex, but these seemed to fit larger than advertised. I would recommend these boots for larger breed dogs. They didn't work for my Jack Russell Terriers. Great construction and quality nonetheless.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use, Cons: poor fit
