Car Saver
January 27, 2011

I bought this travel bed to use in the house as a secondary bed but mostly to use in the car and when we take our dog on outings (it's easier to get her to settle down outside the house when she has a bed). The first day I used it in the car, GUESS WHAT?!! SURPRISE PP!! I don't know if it was my dog or another one but either way, the rubberized water-proof bottom of the bed SAVED MY CAR! In fact, I didn't know it was wet until I took it out of the car and it started dripping (yuck!). Anyway, it washed up nicely, keeps it's shape and stitching and is back in action. In terms of comfort, my dog definitely prefers her other, more plush bed, but this one is super portable and water-proof when it counts!

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of use

Dog pad input feedback

Great Concept, finally!! Many of us take our dog or dogs tent camping and one of the problems is exactly fighting over who gets the air cushion mattress!!! Also many times especially in New ENgland areas it cools off at night , fall camping especially so the ground is damp and cold even with an ground cloth under the tent and one section inside the tent too!!! I have struggled with innovative but relatively inexpensive ways to help provide a cushion and cold.moisture barrier for them to rest on!!

Compact for car trunk

Very useful to have on hand if you are traveling with your dog. Our dog prefers soft surfaces so she is more likely to relax on a bed. The waterproof bottom surface is great because you can easily brush off dirt.

Overall pleased with the purchase

We bought this dog bed to fit inside our dog's crate. We wanted something that wouldn't be too bulky inside his crate. The bed is good quality. It does roll up nicely for transport. Dog fur does show up on the fleece- but we've found that it cleans up very easily using his dog brush. The only draw back is the price- b/c our dog is still young and not completely trust worthy with chewing. We've been periodically spraying the edges and corners of the bed with bitter apple as a deterrent- So far, so good.

... and the dog seeks his new bed out before climbing up on the couch or our bed. haven't had a chance to take it outside, but rolls up easily and the material seems to be pretty solid. we're both really happy with it.

This bed serves its purpose well

I bought this bed for my Blue Heeler to use while away from home. It works great in camp, at the lake, and in the office. It provides minimal cushion but rolls up pretty tight. The main benefit I found is that it provides my Heeler with a personal place of her own. She no longer jumps up in my camp chair to take a nap. Also there's no worry about where you throw it down due to its water resistant fabric on the bottom half.

My dog loves it!
January 02, 2012

A friend recently extolled the virtues of the Mt. Bachelor pad recently and I am SO glad I followed up by placing an order. It is a quality item that should last for quite a while. Its tough but comfy and it fits in the back of my SUV for traveling. My dog would rather sleep on it than the carpet, so that says a lot!

Pros: Build quality, Great value, Lasts forever

Great for the car.
May 04, 2011

Recently got a new SUV, needed something more than the very thin floor mat for my two dogs to sit/lay on. This both fit the space perfectly (the smaller size) and didn't attract every single molecule of dirt. Happy with it so far, given that it's left in there it should last a long time. Tempted to pick one up for the yard since they like it so much. Even my both dogs being around 50 lbs what seemed like a thin mat has turned out to be a great purchase.

Pros: Great design, Ease of use, Cons: Cost

A great product and well-made.

Our son requested this Ruff Wear bed for his Lab b/c he likes the quality of this line. Altrec is a very great place to shop and find great prices for really good stuff.

Travel Pad
March 10, 2011

We take this on all trips with our dog. Fits great in SUV and just perfect between beds in motels. Pad is soft, moisture proof, and rolls up when not in use with velcro straps. Does not slide around in car. Collects loose dog hair that would otherwise spread around in SUV. Even more important, our border collie loves it.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Ease of use

love it
March 31, 2010

we got this for our backyard for our 3 dogs and they LOVE IT. they sunbathe on it. we actually never rolled it up. used it outside for 5 years (washed it on normal cycle, hang dry) and then it was finally time to throw it away. outside every day for 5 years! not bad! that's like $15/yr.

ruff wear rules
January 14, 2012

ruff wear makes quality products, and this is no exception. although my dog hasn't used this dog bed camping yet, he has used it at home, when visiting friends and family, in the car, and at obedience training (as his "mat"). my dog is 50 lbs, and the medium bed is perfectly spacious. it's padded just enough for him, is durable, has a water-resistant bottom, and rolls up so nicely. if my dog could talk, i don't think he would have any complaints about this dog bed. i also don't have any complaints about this dog bed!

Great product for a jeep wrangler
January 10, 2012

My dogs love the freedom of the back area of the Jeep with the backseats removed and Mt. Bachelor pad placed down. Very easy to clean for all types of messes all year around. Provides adequate padding were the dog can lay comfortably for those long trips.

Great outdoor pad
June 27, 2011

I am the owner of a retired racing greyhound weighing 58 pounds. We participate at a number of outdoor events and Lexie likes to relax on a blanket. I bought this pad because of the waterproof and roll up features it offers. We had a chance to break it in this weekend and the area was quite damp. It worked perfectly!! No wet bed to bring home!! It's very easy to roll up and light weight to carry. I have already recommended it to friends.

Pros: Build quality, Performance, Ease of use

Overall good quality - doesn't wash well
July 07, 2009

We purchased last year's model (2007-8), so there may be some changes. We used this pad for around the house and camping. The overall quality is quite good (4-5 stars worthy); the water resistant bottom lining was initially excellent, and I was impressed with the "wearability" of the fleece component. However, after talking with a Ruff Wear rep who insisted it was washable on the gentle cycle of the washer/dryer. We never dried it, but definitely sent it through the washer a few times. The bottom lining started to crack in many places and we sent it back (altrec and ruff wear have excellent return policies). We owned the pad less than a year.

Great concept...
August 26, 2009

average execution? I bought this for a weekend camping trip and it's nonpareil in its overall concept - great for by the campfire or in the tent. My dog took right to it. Unfortunately it was awkward to move FROM the campfire to the tent. Rolling it up demonstrated that the velcro straps and carrying handle are poorly located. Haven't tried washing it yet but looks like it should go on the gentle cycle, hang dry.
