Bought this for our young boxer mix. Slowed her down a bit. We froze the water. Had to tighten it more than we thought. Great product. Took her some time to get used to the extra weight and size.

This backpack is exactly what I was looking for. I use to to walk with my boxer who has an endless amount of energy. The backpack gives her a job and tires her out more easily and quickly. Fits greats and does the job.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Cons: CostAwesome!

Don't expect to pack an extra layer for yourself but this pack is perfect for keys, cell phone, map and Fido's water. He can pass you on a trail without knocking you over too.

I am a big fan of Ruffwear, their products never disappoint me. They are designed specifically for athletic dogs and their athletic owners with function and durability being the top priority. I bought the Singletrack pack for my 78lb GSP and the large fits him perfectly. The adjustable straps are great because its often hard to find products that fit deep chested dogs and don't rub them raw. The pack is the perfect size perfect for long runs and day hikes (fits the water bladders, a collapsible bowl, my keys and cell phone easily). If you want your dog to carry more I'd recommend getting the approach or palisades pack. Once I filled the pack with canned food and my dog ran against a metal fence and now there's a tiny hole in the pack so be careful when putting rigid objects in (this was my fault and not a matter of durability). Bottom line, I highly recommend this product. My dog goes crazy when he sees it because he knows he's going on an adventure.
Pros: Great design, Performance, Ease of useNice warm weather pack

The initial quality of this pack seems very good in terms of materials and workmanship. It is also easily adjusted and easy to put on your dog. The removable water bottles fit well inside the pack and seem to be fairly durable considering their light weight. There is not much room for anything other than the water, so if you want your dog to carry much else you should look at larger packs. The one drawback I see is that extra water bladders do not seem to be available for purchase through Ruffwear or another retailer. A few tips on using your pack - make sure you measure correctly using Ruffwear's instructions for this specific pack. For example, a medium singletrack may not fit the same size dog as a medium Palisades pack. Also, introduce the pack to your dog slowly. Put it on without any weight at first, and immediately do something the dog likes - give it a retrieve or a treat (whatever motivates your dog). It can also help to place your dog on an elevated stand when putting the pack on. It takes a litte of the dog's confidence away and makes them more passive.
