Description

The Ruffwear Web Master Harness is a multi-use alternative to a collar, allowing better distribution of pulling force to prevent choking. Worn by Avalanche Rescue Dogs all over the US, this Ruffwear harness was originally designed to assist search-and-rescue organizations, allowing humans to lift a dog onto a chairlift, truck, or out of harm's way. Newer uses for the harness include skijoring, rehabilitation, and as a secure leash attachment for dogs that manage to get out of traditional harnesses and collars – your furry little Houdini will find it nearly impossible to escape the Web Master.

Great Harness
October 24, 2011

XL harness perfectly fit deep-chested shepherd-mix 75-pound dog. He is prone to back out of harness at times, and this harness so far prevents that. The reflective material and application on harness is absolutely fantastic. The dog looks like a giant firefly when light is directed onto him. The handle is a great feature also; gives a last-ditch effort to grab dog excited by wildlife.

Good for old dogs
December 05, 2011

I got this harness for my elderly pooch, who has arthritis, and difficulty walking. I always marvel at how many people I see walking their arthritic pooches around with no assistance. This harness gives him full-body support, so when I gently lift as he walks, he can have less pressure on his achey bones. Consequently, he is able to go much farther, and not stumble. I can take very long walks with him, whereas without it, he can only go for a block or two. Its a great product, and my neighbor has already ordered one for her own ancient pooch. The only drawback is that it's made for rough-and-tumble outdoors use, so it's stiff, and consequently, not the best for 24/7 wear, since it is undoubtedly not the most comfortable to lie around in.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Ease of use, Lasts forever, Performance, easy to put on, Cons: pretty stiif (not the best for 24/7 wear)

Perfect for the active dog
May 21, 2012

This is a fantastic, sturdy harness for active dogs and owners who like to have their four-legged friends accompany them into the great outdoors. The build quality is excellent and I expect this will hold up for many years. Ideal for hiking since the red makes my black dog more visible and the handle gives us a means of boosting him up over large obstacles or steadying him on tricky terrain. The rear-most straps seem to make it pretty escape-proof as well, so this harness is my first choice anytime we need to feel like he's secure -- we use it with a seat-belt attachment in the car and anytime we need to tie the pup up (always under supervision). Anyone who has owned earlier versions of the Web Master should check the sizing charts as Ruffwear has changed them a bit. There seems to be a smaller range of adjustment than with older versions, which is a disappointment since our dog is still growing, but if he outgrows the current size, we won't hesitate to purchase another.

COLLIE HELP
February 09, 2012

WE HAVE AN 8 YEAR OLD COLLIE WITH FOOT PROBLEMS. WE USE THE HARNESS TO ASSIST HER IN AND OUT OF THE CAR, AT TIMES SHE HAS A HARD TIME GOING UP AND DOWN HER RAMP INTO OUR SUV'S. SHE DOES NOT LIKE TO WEAR MOST OF THE ARTICLES WE HAVE TRIED (BOOTIES, RAIN COATS AND HATS ECT) HOWEVER, SHE DOES NOT MIND WEARING THIS HARNESS. IT IS COMFORTABLE FOR HER AND (ONCE ADJUSTED) FITS WELL. AS SHE GETS OLDER I AM SURE WE WILL USE IT MORE AND MORE TO HELP HER, I WOULD NOT HESITATE TO LIFT HER IN THE HARNESS AS ITS DESIGN EVENLY SUPPORTS HER WIEGHT. THIS IS A GREAT PRODUCT AND VERY WELL MADE.

Bought this harness for one of our dogs, who pulls out of a "typical" harness -- this is not only escape-proof, but fits perfectly, is comfortable, easy to put on, and even has a handle for picking up the dog (great for getting in the car, etc) -- subsequently, bought it for my other three dogs, plus one of my "granddogs" -- will be getting two more when my other two "granddogs" grow through the puppy stage. Many other dog owners have commented on the harnesses and wanted ordering info.

We have two deaf/blind Bull Terrier mixes and find this harness to be the best for them. We use this harness for it's durability; we like the fact they can't slip out of it; we also like the padding and protection it affords the dogs; the handle works very well for lifting them into the vehicle and securing by a strap attached to the headrest. We participate in many dog walk events and frequent dog friendly restaurants and the handle makes it very easy for taking them up/down stairs. I recently ordered the small size for Charlie who out grew his XS. He weighs 34 pounds and the S is perfect with the adjustments and the belly straps are wider offering more comfort for him. Thank you.

We love this harness. We have a small terrier who can get out of every harness but this one. The biggest problem we have is that she's a chewer and she's gone thru four of them. But we keep buying because we really like it. We also have the packs that basically uses the same harness and no rub marks and fits very well.

Better suited to cooler temperatures
May 19, 2012

I think this would be a great harness for winter walks or short coated dogs. However, we picked it up in spring for our large 75lb black lab and I can only guess he was too warm because he spent most of our run rolling around in the grass. Not typical for him. Otherwise, the harness is extremely well constructed and I presume durable.

Our mixed breed has found her way out of EVERY harness or collar we have put on her, until now. She is 45 lbs, fairly lean, and her head comes a little above my knee (I'm 5'4), and the small fits perfectly. The front right leg strap is a bit awkward to get on the first few times, until you're used to it. The quality is fantastic and provides control when she pulls. The strap on top is very handy when the leash doesn't provide enough control. All in all, I would definitely recommend this harness and I am very pleased with it!

Awesome!
September 09, 2011

I have a 6 month old border collie that was having some issues with laying down on our walks. He wants to get into the herding position with every bike, car and person that we pass. I have had this harness for 2 weeks now and have almost completely rehabilitated him. He now sits nicely at my side when he gets anxious about a moving object. The handle really helped with this as I was able to get him to a sitting position without having to really touch him much. Before he was getting upset if I interrupted him. This harness is really nice and has great padding. He loves wearing it and prances around the house. It fits great and he has room to grow in it - we got it in Medium.

A Life-saver!
October 12, 2010

I got this harness for my tri-pawed MinPin who is very high-energy and "impulsive" on walks. Since losing his right front leg, he has "walked out" of 3 different styles of harnesses and 1 collar. This product looks tiny when out of the bag, but the fit is absolutely perfect due to the ability to adjust to fit. It is durable, easy to put on, and provides the most comfortable, safe means of walking that I've ever used on my dogs. The handle has come in very handy on numerous occasions, and the soft lining on the straps prevents chafing and/or discomfort. Bravo!

Sizes are odd for a reason?
February 20, 2012

After checking out a few reviews that recommended going with the smaller size if in doubt, I ordered a medium. It was a very snug fit and I believe it is because of the build of my dog. The site says a medium fits 23 to 36 inch girth and large fits 32 to 48 inch girth which I thought was odd to have such an overlap. My dog is a 75 lb coon hound/lab mix. Her girth is 33 inches. She is very athletic with a very large chest and in great shape. The medium was too tight in front and very loose in the back. I had to return it. The harness was very well made and my dog responded well when I tested the use of the handle to restrain her (sat right down). But overall it was too tight in the chest and I think it would chafe the dog during her extended runs.

This product was an excellent solution to our newly rescued dog who had fears of EVERYTHING, and the 3 strap support system was a great solution in coaxing her along to walk with confidence, other 2 strap harness' pulled too much on frightened torso. She is more comfortable and confident everyday; eventually we hope to use the harness as designed for great hikes!! Thanks!

Got this for my whippet who tugs at the leash. Actually I bought the harness for the looks more than anything else. This harness is super functional. Get a Small for a whippet. It is very easy to adjust and has soft padding on the underside. The handle where you can pick up the dog is pretty neat too and is not uncomfortable for the dog. If you buy this, you will be happy with it. I got a red one with a matching EZDog leash to go with it.

Great harness for an escape artist!
August 19, 2011

I never thought that I would find a good quality harness that my little girl couldn't escape from, I finally found it. I took her camping, and hiking, she tried to back out of it a few times at first and found that she couldn't. It didn't take long for her to get use to it and now she looks forward to putting it on because she knows she is going out for an adventure. The harness is very well constructed, it has a good fit, even for a small dog. My dog seems very comfortable in it as well. I had to use the handle to pick her up when a large dog ran up to her and scared her, although I don't plan on making it a habit of picking her up that way, it was easy and didn't hurt her due to the way this harness is constructed. I highly recommend this harness, now I can feel at ease when I take her out knowing that she won't slip out of it. It also has a reflective trim which is a great safety feature.

Very useful dog accessory
April 06, 2011

This is about the most useful dog accessory I've purchased. It make it easy to get my 90lb arthritic dog in and out of cars and everywhere he wants to go when we hike. The only issue I have is an end of one of the adjustment straps just will not stay in the padded cover and ends up catching on stuff or collecting burrs. It makes him easy enough to handle that I can pick him up in the harness completely and with ease. It's padded so he has no complaints about rubbing or irritation. It's also washable, so when he swims I can throw it in the washer and get rid of the algae/wet dog smell.

Amazing harness, be careful sizing for a male dog.
February 21, 2012

I have purchased this harness for two dogs now and I am convinced it is truly an amazing harness, the best I have found by far. The first was for a female and we followed the sizing quidelines provided and had no issues at all. The second was for a male and although the harness did fit around the chest, it is too long and covers enough anatomy that he is unable to urinate while wearing it. I am going to have to return it and I'm still deciding whether to try the smaller size and see if it will work. I don't recall if the sizing information gave lengths but it would be good info to have based upon our situation.

Great Harness, Runs Small
March 24, 2013

I have a 45# Border Collie who measured 2" smaller than the largest measurement for a Medium, so I ordered a medium. I have all the straps on their longest length, and it fits fine, but there is no room to spare. It also just overall looks a little small on him. On the upside I love the design, it's easy to get on/take off, as I love all the Ruffwear products, and would buy again - in the next size up.

This is the best harness ever! I bought this for my Chihuahua. He was able to escape from other harnesses. There is no way he can wiggle out of this one. This harness is so adjustable it fits him perfectly. This harness has made taking him for a walk a real pleasure! He can not wait to put it on. There is no pulling on his throat . The handle on the back is great if I need to pick him up over an obstacle. Well worth the price. It is made so well, it should last for years. Glad I found this harness!!

Great harness...but...
November 10, 2010

The harness quality is excellent, and I liked the style, but it was too long for my dog. The rear strap fit too close to her back legs for comfort. She is too big for the extra small, so I had to reluctantly return the harness.

May 20, 2011

so far so good on the webmaster harness. overall, I like the product. The dog seems to like it but then again, he loves anything that gets him outside and/or on a car ride. Fit is a little small, I measured my dog at a 29-30 inch chest and got the medium that should fit up to 36 inch chest. It fits him fine, but I really don't think there is an additional 6 inches of strap adjustment available. But it does fit fine on his deep chested, narrow waist build and after several days of use, including one long hike, he hasn't gotten any rubbed areas or irritated spots. Biggest annoyance is that the straps loosen on their own, slowly but surely. I have kind of tied them at the right sizing but then the strap ends stick out and I don't want the knot to rub the dog's side either. Good design as far as handle and leash clip placement and general ease of use.

Secure Harness
July 30, 2012

Great harness. I have a 70 lb Chocolate lab and Golden retriever and I bought this harness for both of them. It fits them very well, I got them a Medium (they are 31'' chest). It is a very adjustable harness and make sure you adjust all straps before thinking you need a different size. I thought I might need a Large before seeing how much adjusting there is, and I am glad I did not get a larger size. There is a lot of adjusting but it is worth it because it is such a secure and good fit once you have it all fitting snug. Expensive, but is very good quality. My dogs are young and usually pull a lot, but these harnesses help me control them.

Great harness, handle is awesome
March 15, 2013

I bought two of these for our mini aussies. They look great (red) and are highly visible. The harness is relatively easy to put on and take off. Other than the visibility and great look/design, the biggest thing this has going for it is the handle. The handle is awesome when helping them around, teach them how to get in the car, and just giving them a secure feeling when going over obstacles. It's also a great way to grab and go when you need to move fast and the pup is being stubborn. :) One of our pups has outgrown the small that I purchased so I'll be selling it and getting a palisade version next. I would get another web master but need the packs. Overall I think this is a five star product, however, she chewed through just a small portion of the front chest strap in a very short time. Because of how easy it was for her to make the small tear, it gets four stars.

Pros: Great design, Performance, Ease of use

A lifesaver for my disabled Golden Retriever
February 21, 2011

I purchased this harness after borrowing one from our vet following my Golden Retriever's recent episode with vestibular disease. If you don't know what that is, vestibular disease is a general category describing an inflammation of the vestibular nerve, which controls balance. My 95-pound Golden Retriever developed this very suddenly one night, which led to a visit to a vetrinary emergency center where he spent a couple of days. Getting him in the car was harrowing, considering his weight, his complete inability to walk and the fact that we were in the middle of a winter storm. Our best solution was to harness him with a blanket and just about slide him out to the car. When he came home, he was able to walk, but navigating stairs and slippery surfaces was a real challenge. This sturdy harness, with its wide straps and top "suitcase-like" handle made it easy for us to steady him as he walks and give him confidence going up and down stairs. Without this harness, I don't know how we would have managed him at home, and if he's ever againi unable to walk and we ever have to get him out to the car, this harness will certainly do the job without injury to him or to us.

Web Master Dog Harness
July 25, 2011

I have a 60 pound LabraBull (mix lab/Eng. bulldog). She is an older girl with arthritis in her rear knees. We have been using it for approx. a month now. We ordered a small and it is a good fit even with her barrel chest. It took her about three walks to be comfortable with the change from neck control to the middle of her back (pull is more evenly distributed). She loves the harness! I can honestly say she seems happier without the pull around her neck and I am too. I have tried other harnesses and they rub her fur away and she is able to back slip if desired. Other harnesses had a tendency to shift when she pulled or zoomed. Web Master does not shift more than a half inch if properly adjusted. This harness has a sturdy build, light weight, and a great handle for additional support if needed. I paired this item with Knot a Leash and am not disappointed. I leave the leash attached to the harness and then saddled her up when we go for a walk. A friend recently ordered the same harness and leaves it on her dog all day--her dog recently had a rear leg amputated. Cons: As other reviewers have said the strap adjustments do slip and need to be readjusted/checked regularly--haven't found this to be a huge problem. Also, not huge, but the dog has to step one paw into the harness before securing to them. Thank you for a great product.

I recently purchased this for my girls because both of them have been able to get out every collar and harness I have ever bought for them. I have had the harnesses for about three weeks and they have even stopped trying to get out of the harnesses. In fact they sit and wait for me to get one of them dressed. They are very easy to put on and stay fastened the whole walk. The walks are much less stressful. They no longer pull and they can't get out of their harness so they are completely safe. Very pleased with our purchase of the Ruffwear Web Master harness. We actually have one of these already that we purchased many, many years ago for another dog, who passed on several years ago, but the harness is still in use today by our current dog (thanks to the very adjustable fit.) We have always known this was a great, functional and durable product, but were pleased to see the little upgrades and improvements that have been made to the product which really make this a wonderful item. I was also very impressed with how quickly it arrived. The new addition to our family feels very special in her nifty red Ruffwear.

GAGGING GONE FOREVER
September 03, 2010

I have bought 3 different harnesses, and none of them worked. Most are poorly made, very flimsy, but then again, you get what you pay for. This harness may be a little pricier than others out there, but it will last a lifetime. It's construction is durable, good for any weather, but most of all, my dog feels comfortable in it and doesn't choke. It also fits true to size. Great Harness, wish I had bought this one before I bought the other ones. In the end, I wasted money.

Great for safety and peace of mind
February 05, 2013

I have a 9 month old Jack Russell Terrier who goes a little wild when on a leash. He has backed himself out of a couple of harnesses and has gotten himself into some pretty scary situations. I did some research and came across this harness. There are two buckles on this one. The way the harness is designed it's pretty much impossible for him to escape which gives me some peace of mind when walking him near busy streets. He is about 13 pounds and currently wears the XXS, but I am about to purchase another one but a size larger (XS) because this one is getting a little tight around his neck area and he tends to pull so hard he gags himself. This harness is top of the line and worth every penny!

This is a great harness for dogs that spend time outdoors. My aussie isn't very big, on hikes the handle on this harness makes it easy to help him up rocks and over larger trees. It is very durable and adjusts in all the right places for a perfect fit. It is also great for bike riding, It doesn't choke like a collar and the padded straps don't cut in and rub. The only con is that my dog happen to fall between sizes, the larger works well, this seems to be common in ruff wear. Highly recommend as I do with all ruff wear!

Great for escape artists
July 20, 2011

I purchased this harness for one of my dogs who tends to slip out of all other harnesses - this works great! She cannot get out of it. The handle is a lifesaver because she is a very shy, nervous dog who tries to bolt; with the handle, I can help her up rocks and over streams that she would otherwise be afraid of. She seems to be more willing to walk with this harness, as well. I ended up getting 2 more for my other dogs. I would definitely recommend this product. Despite their appearance they are quite easy to put on and get off. Be aware that the straps need regular tightening, but it's easy to do. Also, follow the fit guidelines - they may seem small, but they're accurate. Don't buy a harness that is too big for your dog!

Best Alternative to a Collar
November 06, 2010

This harness is the best out there. If you have a dog with a high prey drive he won't choke himself and it's actually easier to control your dogs with this harness than it is with a collar believe it or not. The handle will allow you to get your dogs out of sticky situations without injuring them. There's nothing that compares to this harness in the marketplace.

Great Harness
January 09, 2012

Not only does it look great, but works great as well. I've been using the harness for a few weeks now. In the past, I've purchased many harnesses that didn't fit correctly and chaffed my dog's armpits to the point where the skin was rubbing off. After doing some research, I found this one and it fits and works extremely well. The padded belly straps and the 2nd belly strap works very well to secure the harness and the overall fit is very snug and secure. It takes a bit of time to strap him in, but all things considered, that doesn't really matter much.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, padded straps, 2nd belly strap, Cons: could use the same metal clasp as the collar

Great Harness!
October 17, 2011

So much easier to control my dog, and I can stop other dogs we meet on walks in their tracks when I pick him up by his "handle" to get him out of situations before they escalate. The other dogs just don't know what to think. When I turn, it turns his whole body, and because his feet are off the ground, he is no longer in "fight" mode. Works well as a calming tool during thunderstorms, as well, by hugging his entire midriff...don't know exactly why this works...but it does! Excellent!

WebMaster Dog Harness
October 04, 2011

I would have given this harness 5 stars except for the straps. I have to readjust them several times x day because they loosen up and the harness becomes ineffective. There has to be an easy fix for this. I have a 14 year old, 35 Lb English setter with degenerative nerve damage in her hind quarters. Her coordination is getting progressively worse and she falls all the time. A regular harness didn't provide the rear end support we needed to help her get up or to support her as she goes up and down stairs. The Webmaster fits far enough back and has a great handle at the back end which works perfectly. It also takes the pressure off the neck area. The padded strap covers add extra comfort. There's a handy ring for a leash. It's smart looking and built to last. I leave it on her all the time but unsnap it at night so she doesn't have to lie on the snaps and it's a bit too warm on hot days. My sister calls it: "Angel's suit case."

I bought the harness for our Golden Retriever who lost her sight. It is easy to put on the dog and fits her 65-pound frame comfortably. The handle on the top easily allows me to help her up or down steps. The leash hook on the top facilitates guiding her. Overall, this is an excellent product.

Rock Star Hiking Harness
October 10, 2011

This Ruff Wear Web Master Harness rocks. Im using it for my dog for hiking, nosework training and all around city life. I love the handle on the back. I have a super sporty athletic dog who lives to explore and climb walls(literally). This harness does not get in the way and fits great. BUT you have to make sure you get the right size. I have a 20 inch(at the withers) 46 pound dog with a long back and a lean build. The medium was waaaay too big. The waist strap hit him in a personal area. The small fits great! My only con might be that I would want the strap pads to be waterproof. My dogs always find water when we hike.

Ruff wear web harness
December 08, 2011

I use this harness for my 11 lb minpin (xxs). She rides on my motorcycle with me. I have used a regular dog harness and if she were to fall off I fear she could slip out. With the Ruff wear Web Master harness, she is secure and can not slip out. I love the handle on the harness, I can pick up my dog comfortably as her entire body is supported by the harness. I bought a second harness from Altrec for my other dog. By far the best dog harness ever made. The delivery from Altrec was FAST. Already recommended to a friend for her dog (a 57 pounder).

G-R-R-Reat purchase for my dog.
April 03, 2012

I love this dog harness and so does my German Sherpherd. I use it on some of our more rugged hikes when he might need a hoist up (the handle on the harness easily does the trick) or when I'm helping him into my canoe. I also use it as a "base" upon which I can put his dog-back-pack. Keeps the load from chafing his back. I especially like the "fitability" of this harness. It's easy to get Jake into it and adjust it. I had been using a different harness that didn't have sufficient adjustments so it often ended up akilter by the end of the hike. All in all, I can't think of anything I would improve upon.

Good purchase for Houdini dogs
July 26, 2012

I purchased this harness for my youngest bulldog, who had been able to escape from all the others I tried (about 5 different types). She has not been able to escape from this one yet. The only reason I gave it a 4 instead of 5 is, like others have said, the straps keep slipping/loosening and constantly have to be re-tightened. Surely there is an easy fix for this. There's nothing besides an elastic piece holding them in place.

I bought this for my dog who had just undergone rear leg surgery. It is a fantastic product for carrying her up and down stairs and loading her into cars. It doesn't pinch or bind and is easy to put on and take off. I've had it for two weeks and but I can already tell that it is very well built. My dog weighs 55 pounds and the medium was the right fit. It is not ideal for supporting the rear legs on walks; the carrying handle is in the middle of the back. But for lifting and supporting it is fantastic.

February 15, 2011

I recently began taking my dog (chihuahua) hiking with me, and I couldn't get the idea of him falling off a steep cliff or hill out of my head. I thought that with a traditional leash and collar, even if I were to hold onto him and pull him up, it would be dangerous for him to be hanging by his neck. So I ordered the smallest harness available so that if he did fall, then I could safely catch him. This product is good quality. It has a useful handle on top so that I can pick up my dog like a suitcase, comfortably for him and I. Another added bonus is that the trim material is reflective, for anyone taking their dog out at night. The canvas seems very durable and there is even a stiff spine in the back that keeps it steady and prevents the straps from sliding around on the dog when picking him up. All in all, I was a little dismayed by the full price of the harness. It is worth every penny. My one complaint is that it just fits my dog on the smallest setting.

Perfect for Dogs with Arithitis
December 19, 2011

My beautiful 10 year golden retriever has arthritis in his hips and has difficulty jumping into his medium size SUV. Now that he has the Ruff Wear Web harness, he knows that I can easily and painlessly, help him into the vehicle by holding onto the handle then carefully hoisting his back legs into the car as he jumps into his seat. My golden wears a size Large and after adjusting the fit, it is slightly too big. However, he needs the Large as he has a long back and long legs. I think most goldens and labs could fit into the size Medium. I might add that he is a perfect dog when putting on his harness. He simple stands still and noses his head through the harness, lifts his front right leg for the strap to go under him and bingo he is set to go. I don't know how many times I have been stopped by other dog walkers and asked “where did you get that harness”? Please Ruff Wear bring out more colors e.g. a bright safety yellow or orange.

November 21, 2011

For years we have been looking for a dog harness that was both comfortable for our dogs, standard poodles, and was designed so that they could not pull/back out of it. We are very pleased with our web master dog harnesses and our dogs now are able to enjoy their walks so much more without wearing choke collars around their necks. Given that the harness is securing on our dogs, we have good control and the grab handle on the back of the harness is great for grabbing hold when our male decides he wants to run along with a passing jogger. We also like the reflective stripping on the harness. In the winter we are ofter out walking after dark and this offers our dogs an extra level of safety as it shines brightly in headlights. I highly recommend this product. You and your dog will love it.

Perfect for our aging greyhound.
May 04, 2011

Our greyhound, Sophie, is turning 14 next month and is having trouble getting up and going up and down stairs. Our vet recommended a ruff wear harness, and I ordered one from altrec right away to ensure fast shipping. I wasn't sure about it at first as Sophie is a very long dog, and I thought the product might not be long enough for her. She is quite skinny, and I ordered a small as suggested in the size/ordering instructions. After the vet assured me that it fits her correctly and Sophie has had time to get used to it, I have to say, it's a godsend. She wears it almost around the clock, and it gives her confidence getting up and around. I am able to let her go up stairs on her own, and lightly have my hand on the top handle in case she slips. As opposed to carrying her (which I was doing before), she is able to get around on her own and is gaining confidence and increased energy as a result. Just having the security that she won't fall has helped her tremendously. I highly recommend this product!

Awesome Quality
September 08, 2011

This is no ordinary harness! This is a super harness! We bought this harness for our upcoming RV trip and it fits our Jack Russell great!! The quality is top notch. We also bought the leash with the bungie to help make hitting the trails with our puppy a bit easier. This is also a good idea because the clasp on our regular leash is too small for the beefy hook on the harness.

Very sturdy harness
October 06, 2010

I love my new Web Master Dog Harness, which I ordered for my dog who has a neck injury and needs support especially on stairs. It allows me to help her climb stairs, even while her rear legs are weakened due to a neurological problem. (Note: My dog may need to avoid stairs altogether soon, so do not take this as a recommendation in case your dog is injured.) Easy to put on once all the adjustments are made so that it fits dog perfectly. I searched far and wide through the regular pet supply websites for a harness like this and was so grateful to be told by a friend to search sporting websites. My one recommendation--don't choose a size that is right on the cusp. I got the small, which is supposedly big enough for my dog's girth, but I would have done better with the medium. (The sizes overlap.) It's very handsome, by the way!

A lifesaving purchase!
October 04, 2010

I have 3 Italian Greyhounds. I just adopted a new one 2 weeks ago and on her 2nd day with us, she slipped out of her harness and took off. I luckily finding her 20 minutes later. I desperately looked on line for a better gripping harness and came upon the Ruffwear harness and the reviews. I bought 3 of them and they have changed my life and have made walking my dogs a much more relaxed experience They seem more comfortable in these harnesses as well as they wrap nicely around their barrel chests. Thank you for making a great and reasonably priced product that has changed our lives!

My dog and I are thrilled with this harness!

I got this harness to help my aging Brittany dog with his hip dysplasia (both hips). We're both happier - I can help him up and down stairs and he's not so anxious about stairs any more, knowing that I'm guiding him. And because he can't get into and out of cars, the harness helps me lift him in & out. He wears it all the time and is quite comfortable in it.

Great Harness!
February 05, 2011

Our 6 year old Newfoundland/Great Pyranees girl hasn't figured out that she's getting old, and ended up tearing her CCL. To fix this we had to have a TPLO procedure done. This harness has been AMAZING!! She is a tank, and likes to be the boss, this harness keeps her right by my side, helps us ease her into the truck, aid her up and down the couple of stairs to go in and outside, and pretty much just make our lives a million times easier. Thank you! Once the harness is in place, it doesn't move around too much, and it is VERY sturdy. Our pooch weighs about 130 lbs, and you can pick her right up off the ground with the handle. Also, the reflective tape is a great feature. LOVE THIS!

Great for a 3 legged dog
December 31, 2011

I was contemplating adopting a 3 legged dog and wanted to see what type of harness was recommended, if any. I searched and this one came up. After reading all of the reviews I decided to order one. Most of the reviews referred to using the harness for older, arthritic dogs or dogs who just had some type of back surgery. My new dog is missing her left front leg and this harness does the trick. She is a 20 lb terrier mix with a 20" girth. I ordered the XS after reading about all of the adjustable straps. Well, it fits perfectly and she does not mind wearing it for our walks. The construction is great and easy to put on her with the type of closures across her belly. I rated the cost as a con for now but if it lasts as others say, then it is well worth the extra money. Thanks for a great product, Altrec.

Great Harness!!!
November 22, 2010

PROS- After a few months of using this harness, it is the best harness out there even though it costs quite a lot. Instead of using it for mountain climbing and such, it is used as a daily harness. Having a small-med size dog and getting the smallest harness; the harness fits great around the neck, chest and lower stomach area. Also GREAT for lifting like a suitcase when needed to move or carry the dog. Have gotten numerous comments on how great the harness looks. CONS- BUT the horizontal strap from the triangle below the neck connecting to the chest area cannot be adjusted tightly all the way because of the design that maxes out with little adjustment! It kinds of sticks out but does not affect the harness overall.

My wife and I use this harness for our 75lb American Fox Hound. The size was a little big but it still works very well for us. She is a puller and the harness helps keep her on our side when she decides that she needs to follow her nose. The handle also works wonder for getting her into the back of my FJ. The harness is well constructed and the material is heavy duty and will last a lifetime.

A big help
September 27, 2011

Our big greyhound had a partial stroke 5 years ago. He had a remarkable recovery but was left with some one-sided weakness and as he's grown older (now almost 11), the stairs in the house had become daunting for him and frightening for me because he couldn't control his descent and I had nightmares of him fallling and breaking a leg or worse. I ordered a medium harness for the 90# boy and it fits him quite well. I'm very glad I didn't go with a large which was my first thought until reading other reviews. The first day, he wasn't too crazy about it but I leave it on him almost all of the time and he doesn't seem to mind it a bit. It has been an absolute godsend for helping him with stairs. He waits very patiently until I have my hand on the harness handle and then we walk slowly down the stairs. Even when he jumps from the last couple of steps, I can still control his descent very easily. My only complaint is that the adjustable belts tend to slip and have to be re-snugged every day but that's a small complaint because it's very easy to do. I'd highly recommend this for any one who has a dog with problems going up and down stairs.

Upon reading the reviews on this product and the chain leash I had around my dog's neck wasn't working. I would highly recommend this product for anyone who is considering purchasing one.

My dog seemed to know right away he had a new harness even though he has never worn one before and as soon as it was fitted properly he wanted to take it for a spin, he loves it. Now whenever I pick it up he gets excited to go. The fit is perfect and very easy to adjust. He is a very active Aussie and it does not seem to slow him down and its as if he is not wearing it. It comes in handy especially on walks where he is prone to pull or lung when he see's or hears anything on 2 wheels or skateboards.

Dog harness
May 09, 2011

The harness is well made. Ruff Wear says to order the size smaller if you dog is in-between sizes. I don't recommend this. My dog was two inches smaller in girth than the recommended size and it was still too tight. Going to have to pay extra money to get it altered to fit properly. The padding is also not made to hold in place for comfort on your pooch. Both Pads that are supposed to add comfort to the under side of the dog slide out of position and offer no comfort. Granted the size larger might have accommodated my dog. Too late for that now though since I followed Ruff Wear's directions.

finally a harness fit for italian greyhounds !!!
April 29, 2011

I have 2 italian greyhounds that up till now have backed out of every harness I have tried. And believe me I have tried many. This is not only terrifying but extremely dangerous as this breed chases anything that moves and recall is extremely difficult. Their heads are so small everything just slips over them. This harness has an extra stap that goes under the belly which makes it virtually impossible to back out of. FINALLY I can walk my girls without fear. I bought extra small for them, one is 9 lbs and the other is 11. I would say the fit is as good as you can get given their peculiar body type. Nothing would fit perfectly unless it was custom made for the breed. My only complaint, and believe me I am ecstatic with the product, is that one of my dogs is a puller and she does choke a little as the front breast piece hits her just below the throat. If the piece was a little lower on her chest this might be better but again, I will live with it as this is one awesome harness. Thank you so much for solving what was a real problem for me and the safety of my dogs. This harness is a bit pricey but well worth the cost for the peace of mind it provides.

Great Dane with Wobblers
June 12, 2011

I purchased this harness because my Great Dane was recently diagnosed with Wobblers. I choose this harness because it puts absolutely no strain or stress on the neck which is the most important thing with Wobblers. But, I also decided to order this harness because of the handle toward the back of the harness thinking it would help me assist my Dane in walking especially up and down steps. So, far so good! I would be great if the handle were a little bit further back on the body, but I realize this harness was not designed for the purpose I am using it. But, I have already found that having the handle there period has been quite helpful to both me and my dog in dealing with his walking issues. I also love all the additional padding which I know is adding additional comfort to my dog who is learning to get used to wearing a harness for the first time. I would definitely recommend this harness to other dog owners who have large/giant breed dogs with any walking issues!

Fabulous
April 11, 2012

This harness is a great product! My two dogs love to put it on. I find that this harness is alot easier on my dogs body due to the padding and distribution of pull. This harness gives you the ability to grab onto your dog if you need and the piece of mind that your dog is secure. I find that my dogs don't pull as hard when they have this harness on versus other harnesses we have tried. Also, my beagle mix can't chew thru this one :). It is a truly unique product and we get questions about how we like it and where we got it from all the time and of course we tell everyone how much we love it. My older dog has had her harness for about 4 years now and it still looks and functions great!! It is also great paired with the knot-a-leash that has the locking carbiner closure.

This is my second harness. I made the mistake of leaving the first one on when I let the dogs play outside (he doesn't like to climb icey steps and this was the only way I could get him to come back inside).
